Question:

puck system for 2019 Chevy 3500 Apparently, I did not get the GM trailer prep package which as I understand in a 4 puck ? system 4 holes in the bed with corresponding brackets under the bed mounted to the frame rails. What are my options for obtaining one of these systems now?

For your 2019 Chevy Silverado 3500, the manufacturer puck system is not available in aftermarket but there is a very similar option to give you the 4 pucks. It is the Reese Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit for Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP30868. This system is a confirmed fit for your truck and if you want to also add the 5th hole for the gooseneck you can do that using the Reese Elite Series Under-Bed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Head Kit - 25,000 lbs # RP30158.

This puck system will not only work with the Reese M5 5th wheel hitch like # RP30921, but will also work with Ford Factory system compatible hitches and adapters based on the puck locations. For instance, my favorite hitch for this underbed system in your Chevy 3500 is the B&W Companion OEM 5th-Wheel Hitch for Ford Super Duty Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BWRVK3300 because it has 1 inch jaws for more king pin contact and less chucking and also is made in the USA. If you have a 6-1/2 foot bed, then you will need a sliding hitch like # BWRVK3370 instead.

Finally, I also recommend adding a 7-way to the bed of your truck. The Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness with 7-Pole Plug # 41157 is my recommendation to give you easy connection access and a clean look when towing your 5th wheel.

@KateF well it’s kind of complicated. I would like to have an offset ball for my short bed Chevy, but I need to puck system to stabilize it while it’s inside the fifth wheel hole.

You could install the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch w/ Custom Installation Kit - 30,000 lbs # BWGNRK1020 in your 24 Chevy 2500HD and then use the 4" Offset Ball for B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitches # BWGNXA4085, with B&W's unique square design it holds the ball in place better than the other brands typical round design. Having the puck system and being able to anchor down the gooseneck ball in the pucks is definitely going to be more stable. I am going to reach out to Curt and Reese to see if they have one that we don't have on our site for your truck. They aren't open today so I won't hear back til at least Monday, but I will let you know what I find out.
