Fifth wheel hitches like the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider # RP30051 aren't specific fits so you could use it in any truck bed. The base rails are what are specific fits. To install the # RP30051 in the bed of your 2016 Ford F-150 XLT 6.5' bed you would need rails like the Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP56034-53. The brackets in this kit are a custom fit for your frame and will use the factory holes for installation instead of having drill new holes in your frame.

You're definitely right to be wanting a sliding hitch since your bed length is less than 8'. This will help provide extra turning clearance and will help prevent the nose of your 5th wheel from coming into contact with the cab of your truck. The # RP30051 is a great base level sliding hitch but you may experience some binding with the square tube slider. It will get the job done but if you're a more avid camper I recommend spending the extra money for a round tube slider like the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round Tube Slider # RP30075. This will provide a much smooth transition when in the maneuvering position.

You most likely have industry standard rails in the bed of your 2016 Ford F150 XLT 6.5' bed, which the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Square Tube Slider - Dual Jaw - 16,000lbs # RP30051 would be compatible with. You'll just need to measure the distance from center to center of your rails to confirm. If you find you have a 22" distance then you have ISR rails and will be able to mount the # RP30051 to them.
