Video Transcript for etrailer Scissor Stabilizer Jacks with Handle Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Scissor Stabilizer Jacks with Handle, part number TJSCHD-24. That's for a kit of two with the tool. If you'd like to pick the jacks up individually, you can pick them up with part number TJSC-24 or if you just need the tool you can pick that up, part number TJSC-24-HD.These jacks adjust from 5 to 23-3/4 of an inch to help you level and stabilize your trailer. They have a weight capacity of 5,000 pounds, that's 2,500 pounds per jack. However, keep in mind they're not designed to lift your trailer, just to level and stabilize. Not only can they be used for your travel trailer, but they're going to be great for horse trailers, fifth wheel trailers, and enclosed trailers.

They're manual jacks. The handle tool operates the drive nut, which allows you to raise and lower your jacks. The included handle tool is 27 inches long. It easily swivels so you can operate the jack from a safe distance. Now we're on fairly level ground, so we don't need to level our trailer, but we do need to stabilize it. We're going to simulate a family of four.

Come on in. Now, this is without our stabilizers engaged. Now, as you can see, between walking around and doing other things in the trailer, it's moving pretty good. Now with all of our jacks down, as you can see, it really tightens up the trailer and there's a lot less movement. When looking through some of our customer comments, one of our customer James B. says, "We installed these jacks on an older travel trailer that had been using only jack stands for stabilizing.

These we're simple to install and they operate flawlessly." One of our other customers Tom says, "Stabilizers are well constructed. These will add good stability for our RV." Customers on our site are comparing these to the Ultra-Fab Ultra Scissor Jacks, part number UF48-979002. These have a 24 inch lift and a 6,500 pound weight capacity for the pair. Now, when choosing a stabilizer jack it's important to know how much lift and weight capacity you'll need to support your trailer. There's no need to overspend. Now that we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get them installed.

Now, we're here at the front of the camper. You can use the same procedure to install them at the rear of the camper. We're going to head underneath. Now, on our jack there's a few different hole patterns. You'll want to use whatever works best for your camper. For us, we're going to be using the outside holes. What we want to do is get it lined up where we want, and then mark them out. Now, we're going to be mounting our scissor jack with some self tapping screws. That's how our old one was mounted and that's how most scissor jacks are mounted on travel trailers. To get it started, you can either drill a pilot hole through each one of your holes, or you can take the self tapping screw itself and get the hole started, whichever works best for you. You will have to provide your own hardware. Once you get it started, you can back it out and start on another one. I'm going to start two and then mount my jack. With two holes started, I'm going to take my scissor jack and put it in place. You will want to make sure that the drive nut is facing outward. I'm just going to hold it up, and then I'll finish up with my other two self tapping screws. With our last one in place, we can test it out. With this side being done and we know that it's working properly, you can repeat the same process on the opposite side. If you need to, you can pick up two for the rear, but then after that you're ready to level and stabilize your trailer. That's going to complete our look at the Scissor Stabilizer Jacks with Handle.

As always this product from etrailer was as good as expected. I have a 2015 Jayco 1209 SC Tent Trailer and the jacks that came with it folded like paper when I went to stabilize the trailer (I did not attempt to use them for leveling). I ordered these from etrailer and they came quickly and were perfect. They self tapped onto the frame of the trailer easily and when I used them they leveled the trailer out and stabilized it with such ease. I would also like to note that even though I can buy trailer products in Canada, when I really need something I need to be a sure thing I always go to etrailer and I am yet to be disappointed. 578220

Product arrived as promised, on time and in excellent condition. I am eighty years young and I have a tough time mounting my luggage rack to my Honda C RV trailer hitch receiver. Thus the need for the scissor stabilizer jacks. I mounted 1 each on the left and right side of the luggage rack, then with the ultra-fab stackable stabilizers, I use at the front under the rack tongue, the other under the back of the rack. Now, when I am ready to load or unload the rack I simply use my 14 volt drill motor with the ultra-fab speed socket power drill adapter to raise or lower the rack to the receiver height and just pull it off or push it into the receiver. Over-kill? Yes. But it serves my needs! The jack handle works great too, but that's work and I'm not used to it. All is well. 539422

Review from a similar etrailer Scissor Stabilizer in Camper Jack

These folks are terrific! This is my third order with them and I have been very impressed. Their website has videos on many of the products which are filled with details about product and product use. My only gripe is that if you want to return a product you have to pay for shipping. I understand this but it does make me think twice before ordering. I would recommend this business. 509948

Its almost an identical replacement for our 2016 Heartland stabilizer jack. It mounts the same to the frame has the same size (3/4") jack screw. Slightly different cosmetically and has a 100lbs less lift capacity from the stock. 2500lbs vs. 2400lbs. 612883

Cathy T was most helpful with all my questions. I ordered the RAM 2,500 lbs. jacks to replace my OE jacks on my 2018 Sonic 200VML TT. My OE jacks BAL were poorly designed ,and cheaply manufactured using very thin materials (flimsy) , The RAM jacks use thicker materials ,and bolts in manufacture. RV does not wobble now. 577642

This is a good quality jack, better than the one that was originally installed on my R-Pod. I selected this jack based on etrailer vehicle (RV) selection matrix. It wasn't an exact fit so I had to modify the trailer bracket to install this jack. 503176

My enclosed car trailer had two of these installed from the factory to serve as supports for when a car is being loaded . Unfortuantely, I ripped one off of the bottom of the frame by going over a bump. Fortunately, etrailer.com has many of the parts that came on my trailer, including this one, which makes replacement fast and easy. This is an exact duplicate and will make repairing my trailer a snap. The price is right too! 362512

This trailer jack was manufactured with heavier materials than the one that came on the trailer when we purchased it. It is a much higher quality jack. In addition, we ordered it on line with regular shipping. We were notified that they expedited shipping with no extra charge to us. Ordered it on a Friday and had it on Monday. We will definitely order from etrailer in the future! 381834

Review from a similar etrailer Scissor Stabilizer in Camper Jack

I recently finished restoring a 1964 Impala SS that my Dad bought new when I was beginning high school. I didn't want to use the original bumper jack because of possible damage and scratches to the bumper. I bought this jack so that so that I could jack the car under the frame. I will have to make a little "U" shaped adapter to attach to the top of the jack, but it is going to work beautifully. Good, sturdy jack. 502364

Product was overrated. I was looking to replace a damaged "J-2500" off a Travel trailer. The "TJSC-24" body was made of thicker metal, equivalent to a "J-5000" jack. I removed the mount to accomplish my project. Mission completed. 391193

Review from a similar etrailer Scissor Stabilizer in Camper Jack

I recently wrecked one of the jacks for my Coachmen trailer and wanted to replace it, and another one which had been bent slightly last year. I got a pair of jacks for what one would have cost at an RV dealer and had them zippo quick on my front porch. I went out and replaced them both in an hour (at my advanced age) with a wrench and a socket. As I had read in one review, I believe they are better quality than the ones the trailer came with. Thanks for great service and a quality in what you sell. 505411

Review from a similar etrailer Scissor Stabilizer in Camper Jack

Hello Etrailer Staff & Campers, I had to replace the two rear jacks on my 28' travel trailer. Trying to back up with the original jacks extended down bent them beyond use .......... Opps! The two new jacks that I ordered from Etrailer.com came early, priced right, and were actually made better than the "original factory" ones! Fellow Campers: 1) Always raise you jacks to the "full up-right" position when moving your trailer; 2) Keep in mind that these jacks are designed to "stabilize your trailer" and are not designed to "support" the entire weight of your unit ! 3) Don't forget to put a little grease on the screw shaft..makes them run smooooth! 524444

Review from a similar etrailer Scissor Stabilizer in Camper Jack

This is a much sturdier looking stabilizer jack than the original one I'm replacing. The only possible issue is that the frame bracket where it mounts on the two plates is about 1/8 inch wider than the original. I was hoping to use my original plates but I think I'll need to use the plates that came with the new jack. Anyway, those plates are also different (slightly larger with the mounting holes spaced differently) than the original but it is a much better product so I will make it work. I used ground freight for shipping to reduce the overall cost and i still received this in a timely manner. I highly recommend this company etrailer. 671455

  • Will Stabilizer Jack Leg Fit in MaxxTow Adjustable-Height Ball Mount
  • I went to take some measurements for you and found the leg of the Square Drop Leg Stabilizer Jack # SJ-R208 measured 1-1/4" outside to outside of the leg itself and 1-1/2" for the mounting bracket. The tube portion of the MaxxTow Adjustable-Height Ball Mount # MT70068 that accepts the ball mount measures about 2-1/2" from outside to outside and 2-1/8" inside to inside. So the stabilizer jack leg would physically fit inside the ball mount; the only issue is that the pull pin from the...

  • Recommended Jack to Lift a Trailer to Change a Tire
  • Trailer stabilizer jacks like # TJSCHD-24 are not designed to be used to lift a trailer and hold it up for maintenance. Their purpose is to stabilize the trailer while it's parked and no more. What you're looking for is a jack to hold the trailer in the same fashion one would hold your car to change the tire. For this we have several options like the Buffalo Tools # BTEJ212 which has a maximum lift of 14 inches and can support up to 2,000 pounds. If you need an option with a higher...

  • What is the Difference Between a Stabilizing Scissor Jack and a Leveling Scissor Jack
  • There is no difference, that is just what the manufacturer decided to label it as. They both do the same job. The only thing that you really need to keep an eye on is the weight capacity of each as these kinds of jacks are not meant to lift weight, just to hold it.

  • Can Powerbuilt Unijack Bottle Jack Be Used As Stabilizer For 24-Ft Travel Trailer
  • The Powerbuilt Unijack Bottle Jack, part # ALL620471 is designed to be use when you need to work on a trailer or change a tire, but is not designed to be used as a stabilizer. If you need stabilizers for your travel trailer I recommend Scissor Stabilizer Jacks like part # TJSCHD-24. When collapsed these jacks are 5-inches tall, and when extended the height is 23-3/4 inches. These have a capacity of 2,500-lbs per jack.

  • I did some checking and on scissor jacks # TJSCHD-24 the two closest slotted holes are 4 inches apart on center but since they are slotted you could mount them to a 3-1/2 inch bracket.

  • Scissor Stabilizer Recommendation for 2017 Wildwood Travel Trailer RKSS for Additional Support
  • If your trailer has stabilizers already and you are still experiencing movement the Scissor Jacks part # TJSCHD-24 could also be used to help brace additionally. Since you have such a small frame width though the part # UF48-979002 would be better since it can be welded on as well.

If this distance does not exceed 18-3/4" then you can use the Scissor Stabilizer Jacks w/ Handle part # TJSCHD-24. If this distance does exceed 18-3/4" then you can add...

Scissor type jacks offer a convenient and low-cost way to do this and you can see these on the linked page. I am sorry but I am not sure what you mean by c-arm jacks. For a smaller trailer the Ultra-Fab Stackable Stabilizers # UF48-979004 are a nice option. These DO NOT...

  • Recommended Stabilizer Jacks for a 2001 Fleetwood Wilderness Travel Trailer
  • In order to help stabilize your 2001 Fleetwood Wilderness Travel Trailer I recommend using two sets of the Scissor Stabilizer Jacks w/ Handle part # TJSCHD-24, one of each side of the trailer as this will provide the most stability.
