Soft or shifting surfaces can make ordinary jacks sink and tilt. The bow-tie base on this stabilizer spreads out the load for better footing in dirt or sand. Regular use and road exposure can wear out unprotected metal fast. This jack’s all-steel body is finished with a black powder coat that resists corrosion and stands up to weather and grime. The top plate features an 8-hole pattern so you can line it up easily on different frames or brackets. Bolt it directly to your mounting surface using the holes that fit best—no need for custom drilling in most cases. Once mounted, it stays put and provides reliable support season after season.
This jack is designed to stabilize a portion of your trailer's weight, not to support the full GVWR of your trailer. Do not use this jack to lift your trailer or RV. Doing so will exceed the capacity of the jack.

Well the modification to the mounting plate is a permanent fix. The only thing I have to worry about is driving across deep pot holes where the trailer would damage the stabilizer.

Ive now run this replacement stabilizer on 3 fairly rough , extended back-country trips in Western Colorado, one of them with winds of 50mph or more, all of them on very challenging roads and trails. I have custom brackets that allow me to remove the stabilizers in transit, then reinstall them in minutes. This stabilizer has worked as well as the OE stabilizers, so Im very satisfied with it. I still recommend it after some fairly rigorous field use -its well-built and does the job.
