Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Rhino-Rack Cable Core Lockdown for Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars and Pioneer Platforms. It's available at 71 inches long, part number RR43207, 47 inches long with part number RR43206, and 23 inches long, part number RR43205. Deter would-be thieves by securing your gear to your roof rack. The Rhino-Rack Cable Core Lockdown fits into your roof rack's T slot and it's perfect for securing your gear or accessories that don't come with their own lock. The braided steel cable is 8 mm in diameter, it's difficult to cut, and it features a PVC coating, so it's weather resistant and it won't harm or scratch your gear. The lock core is master key compatible, so you can key it alike to all your other Rhino-Rack accessories. Now that we got all the features, I'll go ahead and show you hot to get it installed. Now this is going to work with most aero crossbars with T slots.

We're working with the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars. First thing we need to do is go ahead and remove our end cap. We'll also go ahead and remove our rubber stripping here. Now ordinarily, you would remove it, slide in your lock, and then you could cut your rubber stripping and reinsert it around your lock, but for demonstration purposes, we'll go ahead and leave that out. Now it's going to come preassembled. We just need to make sure that the nut here is loosened up just enough that we can slide it on.

We can slide it on this direction or this direction, whichever way we prefer. Go ahead and slide mine all the way where it meets up with the other rubber stripping. Now as you can see, in order to tighten this up, the screw is actually down within the lock and it requires a special tool to get it tightened down. Now once we have it in position, we'll take our included tool to tighten it down. Get it nice and secure, that way it doesn't move. Now we can replace our end cap, and we're ready to load up whatever it is we want to keep safe.

Now we'll just be loading up a kayak today. Now our kayak here actually has an anchor point, so we'll be passing the cable through there. Just going to bring it up and pass it through. Then I'll actually go underneath my bar. We can go ahead and lay it back down. Bring it through the loop on the cable, push it down in the lock.

What the cable's doing when it's plugged in, is it's covering up our hardware so it can't be accessed. Once we've got it plugged in, lock it up. As you can see, no one's going to be able to remove our kayak. Now if this we're a bike or something else, we could just pass it through a secure point and run it back to the lock and then it'd be locked in. The only thing left to do is to strap down our kayak and then we're ready to hit the road.
