Today we're going to take a look at the Malone Lariat Universal Kayak/Canoe Cable Lock. Now this is a Malone Lariat Universal Cable Lock, which provides a theft resistant layer of protection when you're hauling your kayak or canoe on top of your vehicle. It is perfect for installation on kayaks and most canoes, and it's great for use when parked in parking lots, and other public places where theft can happen very quickly.Again, it's designed to install on touring, recreational and tandem kayaks, along with most canoes. Features these two-piece heavy-duty cables with built-in loops. The key lock and two keys are included. They are stranded steel construction, they have a nice poly coated outer sleeve to protect your kayak or canoe from any damage when you install them, and they do have these Velcro storage straps here that'll help keep your cables together.Dimensions, each cable is 10 foot long, it's 3/8 inch diameter.

It includes the two cables, one with the lock on it, has a nice cover over the lock to protect it, and the other cable has the plug on it that plugs into the lock, does include the two keys.Basically, when you go to install this, you'll take one cable. Let me just open this up, take the storage strap off. So basically what you'll do is take one cable, insert this plug through the end of the loop, and then loop the complete large loop around your kayak bow and then slide it towards the center. And then you'll take your second cable right here, open it up and same way, you'll take the lock end, insert it through the loop, and then loop the large loop around the kayak Stern, and then slide towards center.Once you get those on both ends, you'll be sliding the lock and the plug together here, and what you'll also do is you'll want to wrap both of these cables around the low bars of your roof rack so they are locked to that, and then tighten them to remove any slack. Then what you'll do is go ahead and push it and lock it together, and then you're all ready to go and it'll keep your canoes, or kayaks protected that are on your vehicle.

Then to remove it, just take your key, insert it in there, turn it, and you can pull the lock right out. Then you can slide these off of your canoe or kayak and then remove it from your vehicle, so it's a very simple installation.Again, it comes with these nice Velcro storage straps that are attached, so all you have to do is wrap it around there a couple times, and that'll attach it and keep it together, same way on this one, when you go to store it.
