Hello, neighbors and friends. Steve here with etrailer.com. Folks, today we're looking at our Hughes Autoformers Adjustable Cable Lock, and it's a 36 inch long, three eighths inch diameter. Now folks, this heavy duty security cable will help prevent the theft of your gear. It has a nice three foot length of cable. And you simply unlock it to then pull out the cable, and it'll give you the full length expanded.
That's that full 36 inch. Now it's very simple to use. You put it through whatever you wanna lock, and you can pull it as tight or as loose as you want. So you can go all the way down here. Once you lock it, it's actually locking that cable in place.
If you unlock it, you can make it looser, tighter, whatever you need. And it's really simple to do. And then you simply take the key out whenever it's locked. Now the cable can pivot here on this end, and you can make that longer or shorter as well. But you'll wanna keep this obviously locked into place if you need to.
You can pop that out. You can actually put this through that eye if you needed to, and that would give you another, kinda like a double thing possibly if you want to go that route. You get two keys. You simply hook it through the end of the gear like I showed you. And then again, it's adjustable, and it's a thick braided stainless steel, so it's cut and salt resistance.
Now the cable has a nice vinyl coating that's gonna keep the steel cable from scratching your gear. And it's also gonna protect it against corrosion itself. Has a nice one year warranty. It easy to use and locks things up. I have used it in freezing weather and had no issues. Great locking system.

Wish you could adjust the length. Some electrical boxes are too big to fit around.
I do not recommend this cable lock for the Watchdog Surge protector because it’s just one size fits all. The lock works fine and seems secure enough, but there is a newer model you can get directly from Hughes Autoformers that is adjustable in length. Maybe etrailer will start carrying it too. That seems way more useful to secure you surge protector to the power post. Otherwise you need to get creative to figure out how to shorten it to make it work. Still neither is perfect as there are times you need a longer cable than either of these. For the price $[XX] this is a fair value, while the new one retails for $[XX] but is much more usable.
Both etrailer and the Hughes cable lock are 5 stars. etrailer is our go to provide for Rv parts, great prices and wonderful customer service. Hughes makes an excellent lock for their EMS units.

I was expecting the steel cable to be 3/8 inch, but the total diameter is 3/8 or they say on package 10mm. So that means the cable is 1/4 inch or less.

Exactly what I needed in order to lock my surge protector and electrical cord to the power box. After adding a ring to the electrical cord which is identical to the one on my Watchdog surge protector,I no longer have to worry about them getting stolen when I leave my campsite.
