Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Wiring 18138 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number 18138. This is the Draw-Tite mounting bracket for a seven-way trailer connector. This is a right angle mounting bracket. It's going to accept a wide range of different style of seven-way trailer connectors. It's got pre-drilled mounting holes that go around the perimeter of the mounting slot right here. That way you can accept again a wide range of different styles of seven-way connectors.

It's going to conveniently mount at the rear of your vehicle whether it's at the bumper, on the frame, or on the underside of your hitch. It's got two mounting slots right here. It's going to come with four self-tapping screws and then you're going to get all the hardware that's needed to mount the seven-way trailer connector to the actual bracket. Now if you don't feel comfortable drilling into a location at the rear of your vehicle there is a no-drill option available. There's actually going to be a couple. You can purchase a short bracket or a long bracket.

Those are going to be sold separately. They can be found right here at etrailer.com, the short bracket, part number 18140, and the long bracket, 18136. That's just going to be able to give you a no-drill option and still be able to use this to mount the seven-way trailer connector. To go over a few measurements real quick, I just want to give you the measurement right here. This is going to be the mounting platform or the mounting area. This is going to about 2-7/8" long.

The width of that mounting space looks like is going to be about 1-3/8". Just want to give you an idea of how much room this is going to need in order to get it to mount to whatever surface you want to mount it to. The hole diameter that we have here, again this is designed to fit majority of seven-way trailer connectors out there. That's going to give us a diameter of 2-1/8". Everything that you need to get your seven-way installed to your bracket and the bracket to your vehicle is included. That's going to do it for our review of part number 18138.

This is the mounting bracket for a seven-way trailer connector. It's going to have a nice steel construction with a protected finish on it to help protect it from rust and corrosion. .

Now after reading at least 50 reviews which were mostly all bad reviews, I was really skeptical to buy from etrailer. There was some really great reviews also. I decided to give them a chance anyway and ordered a drawtite hitch, wiring harness, and a electronic brake controller. Product came in as promised and nothing damaged. Came with all instructions plus the videos from online. Installation was piece of cake. I didn't know that 4way/7way mounting bracket and adapter harness for brake controller(from vehicle to brake controller) didn't come with the order. I ordered them and etrailer gave me free shipping and arrived really fast. Also customer service experience was good. I recommend etrailer to friends and family! 388065

I read several reviews beforehand that stated the bracket is a little thin and would flex when connecting the trailer lights, so I ordered two of these and coupled them together to make it a stronger bracket. (Just have to open up the corresponding holes in one of the brackets so the screws will still feed through. Now it's much stronger and won't bend at all when making a connection. I decided to mount the bracket sitting on top of the bracket weld of my Draw-tite hitch so that it didn't hang so low below the hitch and risk getting damaged coming off a curb or hitting a low spot in the road. I have a 2011 Toyota Highlander and used an Exacto knife to cut out some of the plastic body panel so the harnessed wiring would fit through. Looks almost factory style to me. And it works great! 469941

Your products are excellent but your return items are very slow to process. When ordering products you are fast to hit the credit card with a charge. I returned a item on January 19th but no response by January 28th. At least you could acknowledge that you received the item. 64413

Comments
We do not charge for an order until it ships. If we charge quickly, it is because we shipped quickly. We received the returned item on 122 and started checking it in and processing the return. And today on 1/29 the request to issue the credit back to your card was placed. We always do our best to facilitate and process everything as expeditiously as possible, but returns take time since things have to be manually processed.

I modified the bracket to facilitate installation of 7 prong adapter on 2006 Expedition. Had to use some heat to change the angle to 45 degrees, and cut a couple slots for the clamps, but works when nothing else did. Clamped directly onto the tow bar, and still sturdy after 800 miles. 524369

Prior to ordering the wiring harness and mounting brackets for my truck, I called etrailer.com to ensure I was identifying the right products. The customer service person I spoke to was very knowledgeable. The shipment arrived on time. The wiring harness worked and continues to work well (easy install). The bracket however had a slight issue with fit. I spoke to etrailer.com again and they quickly rectified the issues and sent a new bracket at no cost. Things don't always go right, but it is how we respond to issues that matter. These guys have it together. Well done. 705227

The trailer light kit I got was very easy to install with the helpful video and instruction etrailer has. etrailer made it very easy to select the correct trailer accessories for my Frontier. They were helpful when I called and the website is very easy to use! I have made other purchases through etrailer because it is easy to use and they have what I needed all in one place. Wow, everything arrived in excellent condition and was packed very well! I appreciate including the rest of my order with the main box with the hitch, everything (harness and side bracket) was very well secured in a separate box in it. Thank you for all of your attention to detail! I will certainly recommend you to friends and family! 770733

The hitch went in without a hitch. The wiring harness plugged in easily. The mounting bracket for the plug-in didn't match the holes but a drill took care of that. Less than 45 minutes to install! All in all, nice. 764640

Does what it's supposed to do. I used this on my draw-tite hitch on my '17 Nissan Frontier to mount the stock 7-pin connector. In the past I had always spliced-in the wires when installing wiring for a trailer hitch on a vehicle, but never again after seeing how simple this kit makes the job. With weather proof connectors that snap together, it will be much more reliable than the old splice method. And, it is impossible to wire it incorrectly, which could happen when you're looking for the right wire to splice into (or so I've heard). 720923

Any of the three brackets you mentioned would work just fine as a replacement mounting bracket for the 7-way adapter that came with your # ETBC7 Brake Controller Install Kit. • Differences Between Available Trailer Hitches for 2020 GMC Acadia
