Rugged, Matte Black Finish

The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. This unique powder coating gives etrailer hitches a carbide-like appearance and a rugged look that sets them apart from traditional glossy hitches. In addition to being rust and corrosion resistant, the tough matte coating hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish.

Video Transcript for etrailer Class III Trailer Hitch Installation - 2019 Honda Passport

Hi there, Honda owners. Today on your 2019 Honda Passport. We're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install, etrailer's Class III, two inch Trailer Hitch Receiver. And this is what our hitch is like when it's installed. You'll only be able to see the receiver here sticking out at the back, but the cross tube is gonna be hidden behind the facia here. So you won't even know that it's there.

The receiver is a two inch receiver and it's class three rated. So it's gonna be great for all of your towing needs whether you're wanting to use it for accessories such as bike racks and cargo carriers, or if you're wanting to use it to do a little bit of towing and maybe get some work done, or for recreational purposes you'll secure your accessories to your hitch using a five ace hitch, hitch pin and clip. Now one doesn't come included with the hitch but we've got plenty available here at eTrailer. And then I'd also recommend locking one so you can protect your investments. On bottom, you have style safety chain loops with a very large opening that should accommodate just about every shape, size and style of safety chain.

This hitch offers a 750 pound tongue weight, which is the force going down on top of our receiver and when 750 pounds available to us, that's more than enough for a four bike platform rack fully loaded up with four bikes. It's also enough for the largest cargo carrier that we have here at eTrailer, fully loaded up to the max. And you wanna keep in mind, your tongue weight is the weight of anything put in the receiver. So that would be the weight of the bike rake or cargo carrier plus any weight that's put on it. So if it was a bike rack, that'd be also the weight of your bikes or your cargo carrier.

However much gear you're gonna put on it just calculate those together. But the biggest cargo carriers we have here at eTrailer are only about 500 to 550 pounds for their max carrying capacity which gives you plenty of head room with this hitch here. You should never even hit that with the cargo carrier. It also offers a 5,000 pound gross towing capacity which is how much you can pull behind it. And with 5,000 pounds available to you you can get quite a lot of stuff done.

There's quite a lot of boats that you can pull with 5,000 pounds. Popup campers should be no problem. There are some smaller campers out there you should be able to pull. Utility trailers whether you're wanting to get some work done. I mean, there's all kinds of things you could do with that 5,000 pounds. Now, if you are working with a camper, that's really close to that, or maybe just exceeding that a little bit. This hit is rated for use with the weight distribution system and when using a weight distribution system your tongue weight will remain the same but the gross towing capacity is gonna increase from 5,000 up to 6,000 pounds. Now weight distribution system will help take some of the weight that's sagging down the back of our vehicle here and redistribute that to the front axle, help them level out our vehicle and restore some lost handling and breaking performance. We've got a lot of different weight distribution systems available here at eTrailer. So you can pick through those to find the best one that works with your vehicle and trailer combination. Now, as always, I recommend that you verifying your vehicle's owner's manual and ensure you don't exceed any of its towing capacities. So now I've got some measurements for you to help you when deciding on accessories. From the center of our hitchpin hole to the edge of the rear bumper we're looking at right at about four and a half inches. This is important when determining if your accessories will contact the bumper when inserted and if they can be placed in the upright storage position without contacting the bumper. And from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube here we're at right at about 16 inches. And this is important when determining either a drop, a rise or ray shank on your accessories. Now that we've covered some of the features of our hitch here. Why don't you fall along with us in the shop and we'll show you how to get it installed. This is gonna be one of the easiest hitches to install. It's something you could probably do in about 15 minutes. I would recommend a buddy just to help you lift it up there but it does go on very quickly. We'll begin our installation here underneath the vehicle. This is one of the easiest vehicles to throw a hitch on. Cause we've pretty much gotta lift it up there and just bolt it into place. But since this vehicle is a couple of years old now, dirt, debris and stuff like that can build up into the well nuts underneath. So we're gonna take a bristled brush and some rust penetrant and we're gonna clean them out before we throw it up there. Cause we don't wanna bolt to hang up and cause us any issues. So here we can see our weld nuts in the bottom of the frame and it's the exact same on the other side of the vehicle. we're just gonna put some rust penetrant up into the hole and use our bristled brush here clean out any dirt and debris. If your vehicle's older, more than a couple of years like this then you might need to take it a step further and use a tap to clean it out. If it's severely rusted and you can get tap and dice that's available here at eTrailer, but in most cases you can just kind of clean it out like this and you should be good to go. I would recommend taking one of your bolts after you clean them out and just thread it in there by hand just so you can get an idea of how difficult it is going to be to thread your hardware in. If it's difficult then you might want to go follow it up with the tap. So we're just gonna pick a hole here and it threads in nice and easy. So we're good to go. We're gonna grab the rest of our hardware. It's not a bad idea to check every hole to make sure but this vehicle really wasn't that rusted. So we don't really need to go any further with it. We're gonna prepare each piece of hardware, take your bolt, pan your conical tooth washer slide the washer on it with the teeth facing away from the head of the bolt. So that way they dig into our hitch. You'll have a total of six of these we're gonna prepare. Now with an extra set of hands, we're just gonna lift our hitch up. Line it up with the holes in the hitch with the weld nuts in the bottom of the frame. And we're just gonna lift it up and get one bolt started on each side. That'll hold the hitch up making it easier to install the rest of your hardware. So now our hitch is hanging by the one bolt that we put on each side. You can see how much easier it is now to just come up in here and thread your hard brand. You don't have to worry about holding up that heavy hitch because it is a little bit heavier than it looks. It's not insanely heavy but I would say it's heavy enough where you really are gonna need that extra set of hands to help you out lifting it up there to get each a bolt started on each side. Get them all three in that side, and then we'll just head over to this side and get them in over here. One of your bolts has started in there. We can go back and run them down with a 22 millimeter socket and then we can go back with our torque wrench and torch them to the specifications outlined in our instructions. And that completes our installation of eTrailer's class three two inch trailer hit receiver on our 2019 Honda passport..

2020 Honda Passport

I have a 2020 Honda Passport and this trailer hitch receiver is really easy to install. I installed myself using a floor jack. Installation took me about 30 minutes. Initial placement took about 20 minutes. Extra 10 minutes was to Loctite and secure each bolt (6) with a torque wrench. Installation video was very helpful.

Etrailer has a great website which is easy to use. Plus the instructional videos make what seems a daunting job, really easy. I use Etrailer for all of my hitch needs and the service and turnaround time is second to none. I think the hitch that I just received arrived at my home about 3 days after I ordered it. Top notch company and service and I highly recommend to anyone needing a hitch or related equipment.

Had some trouble with the 6 holes .
Had
to rotary file the holes a little.
Finish was not great, paint was scraped in 3 places.
Other than that, it’s a really sturdy hitch!

Our new trailer hitch arrived within a week of ordering, although the box had some shipping damage, the product inside was in great shape. We literally were able to get it installed within 15 minutes. It was a direct Bolt-in process without any complications at all. No drilling, no cutting and no hassle. Easily can be done by any weekend warrior.

Review from a similar Trailer Hitch 13421 in Trailer Hitch

Ordered this hitch for my new 2022 Passport Trailsport on a Saturday night and received it the following Thursday. Packaging was great and there was no damage to the hitch.
Took about 30 minutes to mount it. Highly recommend a second person to thread the first 2 bolts while you hold it in place. After that put some orange loctite on, spun the bolts in with an impact wrench and followed with my 1/2" torque wrench.
The hitch is strong, well built with nice welds and a nice finish. Bolts provided are high quality 10.9 grade with some beefy washers.
Very happy with this purchase and know I can get that last dump load run in before winter.
