Video Transcript for Feature Breakdown: Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket, Heavy Duty Zinc Steel

Today we're going to show you Optronics Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket, part number LP15SB. First off, with our bracket this is an all-metal construction. In its typical application, this license bracket is designed to sit behind the bracket that holds your taillight in place. In this case, we're on the driver's side or left-hand side. Typically they will line up with the studs on the lights. You can mount this either way you'd like, but typically you want this underneath so it sticks underneath the light on the bottom for the license plate. Let's go ahead and install it. Pretty simply.

Let's go ahead and remove these two nuts. Most of the time it's going to be a 7/16. In certain situations, it won't fit like this, so you can flip it around and install it that way as well. Of course, we realize that not as much light will go onto your license plate, but it will still work just fine. Then you can go ahead and install your license plate; 1/4" hardware will work just fine for that.

This hardware does not come with it as well. Since it is recessed inaudible 00:01:14 back, let's go ahead and turn off the lights and try it out and see how the trailer light illuminates the license plate. Even though it's recessed, it's still doing its job. That will finish it for a Optronics Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket, part number LP15SB. .

Nice upgrade from original equipment

by:

Standard bracket. Fits as advertised. Price was great!

by:

Thanks for the prompt service and product is what I needed.

by:

Much better than old the plastic Tag Mount bracket.

by:

Made of heavy gauge material, zinc coating. Way better than the stock plastic OEM.

by:

Can't beat the price, value, and quick convenient delivery!!!

by:

Exactly what I wanted. What is more amazing was how quick the package arrived. Etrailer is a good retailer to deal with.

by:

I've restored my 12 ft double axle trailer after it was damage in a fire. The trailer was restored and the finishing touches were supplies by e trailer. Fast and prompt delivery, Thx so mix.

by:

I am completely confident that I'm not being taken advantage of. This business is awesome. I haven't yet asked for help but I would bet they would have the answer your looking for. Love the videos and grateful that you made them for everyone. If any requests, make a video on how to replace a spindle... Thanks

by:

I was glad to find a solid zinc license plate holder for my trailer. I was very satisfied with the order and the product.

by:

Received within a couple days of placing order, good communication from etrailer.com, good design, great price, expect it to last much longer than plastic.

by:

Great replacement for the cheap OEM plate holders. Ended up working out better than I thought it would. Bolts directly where the plastic one did on a 5 x 8 Carry-On trailer. Painted it black to match the trailer. Looks like it came that way from factory.

by:

The product I ordered is exactly as described, and meets my needs perfectly. The price is quite reasonable. I had looked for several months at local retail outlets to find a sturdy steel bracket but all I could find were the plastic variety. Plastic does not hold up well when exposed to constant rushing air (as in 65 mph on the Interstate). I am very happy to find a license plate bracket that will do the job without failure!

by:

the zinc plated trailer license plate bracket is a 100% improvement over the flimsy plastic one that came with the trailer .I needed to make some adjustments to fit the trailer light but everything else was what I wanted

by:

This is one of the best license plate brackets I have found for boat trailers. The metal helps keep lights grounded and is worlds above plastic in terms of strength.

by:

I have been looking for this product for awhile to replace two flimsy plastic license plate brackets on trailers we own. In fact I recently lost a license plate due to a plastic one that broke on my utility trailer. I am amazed at the high quality and very low cost of this product. Placing the order on-line was super easy and I couldn't have asked for more reasonable shipping cost. It arrived much faster than I would have suspected. I would definitely do this again and appreciate your service. Etrailer is "top-notch" in my book!

by:

Anyone that first buys a trailer knows that plastic license plate holder is flimsy. And sometimes you can lose your license plate. This is steel sturdy and well made

by:

Very satisfied. It fits snug on the trailer and the plate attaches perfectly.

by:

Exactly the license plate bracket I need for my trailer

by:

It is a very nice tag bracket. Metal!

by:

I have never went wrong with etrailer. This product was no different. Product is well built and sturdy. Fast shipping and would deninatley recommend it if you're looking for a trailer tag bracket.

by:

Are you kidding? This metal license plate mount is rock solid and under $2. The holes are set up perfectly to fit the mounting bolts on my driver side trailer light and the position of the license plate when mounted allows it to be lit by the clear lens on the bottom of the trailer light when the running lights are on. Also, the bracket allows the mounted license plate (and frame) to just clear the rail of the flat bed trailer itself. Yeah, it's a perfect fit. Thanks, trailer!!

by:

Very sturdy and did the job

by:

I received my license plate brackets yesterday. I installed one of them on my boat trailer this morning. Installation was easy and it looks great. The license plate brackets are heavy duty and seem to be well manufactured. In the past, I have purchased lighter metal brackets and polymer brackets. Both of these types of brackets finally breakover a period of time and usage. Thanks for having a superior license plate bracket!

by:

This part was perfect for my liscense plate for my trailer . Thanks

  • Recommended Hitch Adapter To Use With Thule Bike Carrier And Provide Clearance For Taillights
Using any adapters in the trailer hitch on your Rogue will reduce the hitch capacity by 50 percent. Since you are using your hitch for a bike carrier you may still be within the weight capacity of your hitch. If you have a 2-inch receiver opening I recommend an adapter like part # RM-076. This adapter offers a 6-inch rise or drop and may give you the needed clearance for your tail lights. We do not have an adapter with a rise or drop like this for a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.

  • Would the Optronics Trailer License Plate Bracket part # LP15SB Replace a Wesbar 003201 Bracket
The Wesbar license plate bracket part number 003201 that you referenced is a universal license plate bracket just like the Optronics Trailer License Plate Bracket part # LP15SB. To see if the mounting holes would line up check out the dimension picture I attached. If the dimensions don't match up you could still make the bracket work pretty easily.

The Pro Series carrier, # 63153, does not have an alternative shank that will allow it to fold. For a license plate bracket, there is not a specific bracket made for the carriers but you can use # LP15SB. Self-tapping screws (not included) can be used to attach it to the carrier.

If you dont mind drilling a few holes you could get the LED Mini Trailer License Plate Light # LPL31CB to work with a Steel Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket # LP20SB. But I pulled both these products from our warehouse and the holes of these products do not line up, but if you used the # LPL31CB as a template you could drill the correct dimension holes in the # LP20SB above its current holes. With the Curt cargo carrier, # C18145, installed, you should not have any problems opening the rear hatch on your 2006 Acura MDX. To be certain, you can take some measurements. Measure from the top of the receiver opening up 5-1/2 inches, and then out 6 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole. This is where the nearest part of the carrier will be to the vehicle when installed. I have included some links on the Curt carrier for you. Given the position of the license plate holder on...

  • Troubleshooting Left Taillight Malfunction When Right Taillight is Working a 4-pole Wiring Harness
There are several possibilities that an contribute to why you have one tail light working but not the other. The first diagnostic approach is to isolate the cause of the problem, it could be the vehicle or the trailer. Then once that is isolated you can proceed accordingly. The first step that I recommend is to check the connector on the vehicle. If the connector appears to be in good working order and is free of corrosion or road grime, then I would use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993...

I checked with CE Smith and license plate holder # CE26053A does not have the holes in it to mount a light. The picture in question is meant to show the tread plate construction. For a similar metal license plate mounting bracket that does have additional mounting holes go with # LP15SB.

  • Can the Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket, Heavy Duty Zinc Steel Be Flipped
Yes, you can flip the orientation of the Trailer License Plate Mount Bracket, Heavy Duty Zinc Steel part # LP15SB so that the license plate sits above the tail lights and not below. That said, you'd be securing the plate using the lower set of holes with this method. I don't believe this would violate any laws or regulations but I also can't inform of this for every state so you will need to check with local officials if you have concerns of legality.

That is an interesting issue. What I would do is use a secondary bracket for the plate, # LP15SB. You could secure it to the underside of the tray so when folded up you will have a bracket there. A quick and dirty solution would be to bungee cord it to the carrier with some bungees like # EM06664 which is 19" . That may not be pretty but it would work.
