Video Transcript for Review of CURT Trailer Wiring - No-Drill Trailer Connector Mounting Bracket - C83DR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Curt Short Universal No-Drill Bracket for the 4-way, the 5-way, or the 6-way trailer connector mounting brackets. Now, this part attaches to your trailer hitch and provides a nice mounting point for your trailer's electrical connector bracket to attach to. Now, those electrical brackets we do sell separately on our website. This part here will offer a nice no-drill solution for mounting the trailer connector bracket to your hitch. Basically, it'll install around your hitch using this included hose clamp.

Basically, you'll wrap this clamp, open it all the way up, wrap it around the trailer hitch, and then through the hole here in your attachment bracket, and then go ahead and tighten this down and it'll hold this tight on your to your hitch. And then you'll bolt, you can see the holes here, you'll bolt your electrical trailer connector bracket right to this bracket using included hardware that they include here. This is constructed of a nice durable steel, you can see it has a nice black powder coat finish to it to resist rust and corrosion, and even on the hose clamp itself it has a nice black powder coat finish to it. Few dimensions on this, the width of the bracket is three inches wide, and the length of it is right at 3 7/8 inches long. But that should do it for the review on this Curt Short Universal No-Drill Bracket for the 4-way, 5-way, or 6-way trailer connector mounting brackets..

Very easy to install. Hardest part was getting the car threshold off and on but really only took me a few minutes.

  • Is etrailer or EcoHitch Better for a 2021 Subaru Ascent
Hey Sergi, thanks for reaching out! Go with the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e55ZR. There are some subtle differences in design but really what the price difference amounts to is the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7381 was really the first of it's kind on the market, but then other companies started coming out with their own designs like it and TorkLift/EcoHitch still thinks that their design is much more superior to everything else on the market...which it isn't. Then...

  • 2024 Subaru Ascent Best Parts for Towing a Trailer with Brakes
Hey Gregory, thanks for reaching out! I really like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e55ZR as well - I know you'll be happy with it! When it comes to wiring, a 4-Way is used for basic trailer lighting, but since you'll be towing a trailer with brakes, we need to get you setup with a 7-Way and a brake controller. Here are the parts I recommend for that side of your towing rig: - T-One Harness # 118790 (basic 4-Way) - Universal Wiring Upgrade Kit # ETBC7 (upgrades to a 4-Way/7-Way) ...

  • How to Add a 4-Way Trailer Connector with the 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2024 Honda Ridgeline
Hey Stephen, thanks for reaching out! You can either use the Hopkins # 30955 to give you both 7-Way and 4-Way connectors, or you can use the T-One # 118384 and Mounting Brackets # C83DR and # 18144 to mount the 4-Way separately from your current 7-Way. Either option plugs into the USCAR connector at the back side of the bumper on your 2024 Ridgeline.

  • 2025 Kia Carnival Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendations
Hey John, thanks for reaching out! I see you ordered the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C67ER from us the other day (thank you for that!) so for a matching wiring kit I recommend the Curt # C63RV if you have LED lights or the Curt # C32MJ if you don't have LED lights. These aren't plug and play, but they do tee in behind your tail lights so you don't have to cut and splice any wiring. I'm not familiar with your Trailer Prewire Harness, but feel free to send me any photos of what you found! To...

  • Is it Safe for 4-Way Trailer Plug to be Installed Permanently Near my Hitch Receiver?
Hey Brett, it's good to hear from you again! I personally like having the 4-Way mounted next to the receiver that way it's ready and waiting for when I need it. As long as you have a cover over the plug, like the Curt # C58200, you'll be just fine. I used the brackets # 18144 and # C83DR to secure the wiring connector on my vehicle. You certainly can keep it stored inside your trunk, but my main issue with that route is that you have to be more careful where the wiring hangs, so the trunk...

  • Hitch and Wiring Recommendations for a 2021 Chevy Blazer
Hey Richard, thanks for reaching out! The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e36YR is my hitch recommendation for your 2021 Chevy Blazer because of the matte black finish. This finish makes it more durable than the classic glossy black finish we see from other hitch brands. Then for wiring, the Curt T-Connector # C56325 is your best option, and I recommend securing it near the hitch receiver with the mounting brackets # 18144 and # C83DR. It looks like you'll be towing with your Blazer...

I recommend picking up the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e37KR and the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C55341 for your 1997 Toyota 4Runner. The etrailer hitch has a matte black finish that's more durable than the glossy black finishes we see on other hitches, and then the wiring tees in behind your tail lights. You'll also need the mounting brackets # 18144 and # C83DR to keep the 4-Way connector near your hitch receiver for easy access. I also recommend checking out the...

  • Can 2017 Subaru Forester XT Be Used to Carry 290 lb Dirt Bike
For max tongue weight you will need to stay under the least rated component so even though the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98839 has a 525 lb tongue weight rating, I looked in the online owner's manual for your 2017 Subaru Forester XT and it looks like the max tongue weight they list for a trailer is 200 lbs so I can't recommend using anything where the carrier and cargo exceed that limit. For your application it would be better to install wiring as well and then transport your...
