We really do not have any info or specs on the Knott brand brakes, but since it is all for a 3,500 lb axle the sizing should be standard. That said, we do have replacement disc brake calipers such as the Replacement Disc Brake Caliper part # K71-773-02 for passenger side or part # K71-773-01 for driver side.   If you are just needing to replace the caliper, like part # K71-773-01, then no you don't have to replace the caliper on the other side of your trailer axle. If you were replacing something that sees normal wear like the brake pads or the rotor then yes you would need to replace both.   Correct, the Replacement Universal Caliper part # K71-773-01 for driver side and part # K71-773-02 for passenger side have a 2-7/8" spacing between the two caliper mounting bracket bolts therefore will attach directly to the brake mounting flange on the axle so the flange you have now with 5" bolt centers will be discarded.
