Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the replacement universal caliper for Titan 10" brakes. Now this unit replaces the caliper on your Titan 10" passenger side brake. The replacement caliper for the driver side brake is sold separately and available at etrailer.com. The unit is made from a durable construction, nice steel construction and it does feature a rust and corrosion resistant design. The pads are already installed and they are included. Mounting hardware is included as well.
This point right here is the brake line inlet port. And then located right here is your bleeder screw. Again, overall, nice design. Easy replacement. Easy installation with the included instructions and the included hardware.
That's going to do it for today's look at the replacement universal caliper for Titan 10" brakes. Again, this one is for the passenger side brake.

Replaces the caliper on your Dexter 10" brakes. Passenger's-side application.I have an older galvanized tandem axel trailer. Several years ago, I converted the single axel drum brakes to tandem axel disk brakes using a kit to install disk brakes on all four wheels, replace the actuator on the trailer tongue and to replace all brake lines.
About a year ago, the brakes began to bind. At first, they would drag for the first few hundred feet and then seem to clear. Then, they would not release at all.
The initial problem was one caliper. I tried to find a replacement caliper for the 10 inch Titan T4841200, but it did not seem to be available. I then found the Dexter K71-773-02 at e-trailer. I originally only purchased the one caliper.
I removed the old Titan caliper and found the problem. The caliper was all rusted up and the piston was not able to retract. It was not even worth attempting to rebuild. When I went to install the new Dexter caliper, I discovered that I needed to remove the bracket that I previously had to install for the Titan brakes. This new Dexter caliper attached directly to the flange of the axel. I like this installation much better. After I removed the wheel hub and removed the bracket and reinstalled the wheel hub (with new grease), I was able to easily complete the installation of the new Dexter caliper.
The new Dexter caliper seems to have much better corrosion resistance than the older Titan calipers.
I then began to experience slight dragging of the other axels. I then ordered three more calipers and replaced the remaining calipers with Dexter calipers K71-773-01 for one side and K71-773-02 for the other side.
I have now had them on for a year and I have been very happy with them. I usually launch in fresh water, but occasionally launch in salt water. The new calipers seem to be holding up much better than the Titan calipers did. Plus, I am also happy with the corrosion preventative coatings and I am happy with how they mount to the axel flange without using a separate bracket.
So far so good.

I was asked to evaluate my Dexter calipers after a year of use. I still usually launch in fresh water, but I occasionally launch in salt water. These Dexter calipers seem to be doing very well and I have not experienced any problems. They activate when braking just like they did when I first installed them I am still very happy with them.
