Recommended Solution to Extend Boat Trailer Tongue

Question:
We need to extend the 2x3 tongue of our boat trailer about 2 feet. Do you see a galvanized extender that will work for us? I think the hitch that goes over the 2x3 member has an exterior dimension of 2 1/2x3 1/2. Thank you.

I may have a solution for you, but there isn't really a direct way to extend the tongue of your trailer 2 feet. However, you could potentially use the Fulton Fold-Away Coupler Hinge Kit for 2" x 3" Tongue - Weld On - Up to 5,000 lb # FHDPW230300 and then swap the coupler to a different length of trailer frame that is the length that you need it to be.
This would really be the only way to accomplish what you're wanting to do, but it will work. You'll want to make sure that the steel tongue piece that you use is the same grade of steel and thickness as your current tongue.
