Hand tightening at the hose connection can seal well, and included plumber's putty/tape and screws can speed the job. When tightening a 1/2" adapter on the back, hold the plastic 1/2" MPT portion to prevent it from rotating inside the flange. If you want long-term durability, compare designs with more metal structure versus plastic.
