Today we're going to be taking a look at the Valterra flash mounted telescoping gravity fill water inlet for Rvs. This unit allows you to add or replace or gravity fill water inlet on your RV. To open the unit all you've got to do is lift up on the latch, pull it out. You can fill the fresh water tank by pouring water into this area here and then when you're done, you just close it and then push that back down to latch it shut. It's a really nice design. That's the telescoping function of the mechanism.
The latch does snap shut but there is a small hole you can see right in there. It could be used to pass a lock through and lock it closed. It's not included where you could tie that shut someway so I just wanted you to be aware that that is there in case you want add more security to making sure the unit stays closed. The unit's got a feature, the appropriate seals for leak proof performance and if you look in the very top of the unit, it's hard to see from that area, but back here there's a connection point for air vent, so that's included. What that does is as you're filling your fresh water tank, a lot of times air gets trapped in there and if it doesn't have a way to escape, it's actually going to create a lot of pressure. That air vent would connect to the hosing on your RV and that allows air to escape as you fill the fresh water tank to keep pressure from building up. This is a flash mount installation.
It's got 4 mounting holes. A mounting hardware is not included. The mount holes on the unit are going to be separated on center by 2-1/2 inches and that's going to be the same distance between each mount hole going on center. A cut out is needed for installation. This area right here is going to give us a diameter measurement of about 2-1/2 inches. The unit is also going to have the air vent right here.
That's going to be a 3/8th inch fitting. Again, that's going to allow air to escape to keep pressure from building up inside the tank. One of the neat things I like about the unit is the barbed fitting right here is actually 2 sizes so if your RV is equipped with an 1-1/4 inch barb inlet, you can use this area right here and then you can see how it increases in size up here. It has the 1-1/4 inch barbed inlet and has the 1-3/8th inch inlet for connecting the RV plumbing to the gravity fill. The unit's made from a very strong durable plastic construction and the main housing portion is going to be white in color. That's going to do it for today's look at the Valterra flash mounted telescoping gravity fill water inlet for Rvs..
