Picking Out Andersen Weight Distribution System And Adjusting It For A Level Truck And Trailer

Updated 05/07/2025 | Published 05/06/2025

Question:

I noticed my trailer is pretty level, but the truck is not completely level. The sway does seem to be better though. Is this correct for the Andersen?

Hey there Michelle!
While weight distribution systems are supposed to get the truck and trailer as level as possible, they are not complete miracle workers and won't make both 100% level in all situations. In fact, Andersen has a section of the instructions where they go over this exact topic as you can see in the image below. Basically it says that it's okay if the rear of the tow vehicle is slightly sagging and the trailer is level, just make sure the sag is not dramatic.

One thing we can check is if you have the correct system for your vehicle and trailer, and if you have the hitch adjusted properly and on the correct rise/drop setting. I attached another snip it from the instructions that covers the adjustments.

As far as the correct system goes, you'll want to make sure your trailer's tongue weight and overall weight falls in the range of one of the systems below, and also match up the rise/drop with your trailer and tow vehicle's receiver to get them as level as possible before adjustments.

-Andersen 10K GTW, 1.4K TW with 4" Rise/Drop # AN88VR (2" Receiver)
-Andersen 10K GTW, 1.4K TW with 6" Rise/Drop # AN28VR (2" Receiver)
-Andersen 14K GTW, 1.4K TW with 4" Rise/Drop #AN53VR (2" Receiver)
-Andersen 16K GTW, 1.6K TW with 6" Rise/Drop # AN33VR (2" Receiver)
-Andersen 14K GTW, 1.4K TW with 6" Rise/Drop # AN69VR (2-1/2" Receiver)
