Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Dometic water heater door conversion kit. So, this is going to help to fill in some of the gaps around your water heater. Specifically, will work with the Dometic six gallon electric and gas water heater that you see on the screen there. So, because that water heater is a little bit smaller than your larger Atwood water heater that you're probably working to replace.
This is going to help fill in some of that cutouts that it has nice snug fit. Now, I do have that water heater here. So, we can kind of see a little bit better how that's going to fit in place. So, this is obviously sold separately but you can find it using the part number that you see on the screen there. So, because this is a smaller unit than our Atwood, we are going to have these side flanges here that will mount in place once we pull back the flanges on the sides that are bent in for shipping.
That will allow us to use some of these included screws here to get those mounted in place. So, then it's gonna be a little bit wider for us. On both sides, we'll have that. And then, our door is going to fit right in place on top, so that our vent is still able to vent out properly. We'll also be able to pass our locking tab through once we have all those flanges bent in.
That will line up with our hole here in our doors, so that we can lock the door closed and then twist it to open it up again. We will use the two hinges that are included with and those will mount right onto the door on the sides here. Pass right through. Very easy to get put in place. And then, we'll screw those down onto our heater.
And these will allow the door to open all the way up to this point. So, it's not gonna fall completely open. It's gonna provide a little bit of resistance before it gets to that 90 degree angle. But it will allow us to then hinge the door up to close it once it's mounted in place. So, if you do have a larger Atwood water heater that you're replacing and that cutout is a little bit larger than you're gonna need for this new water heater, this is gonna be a great option to ensure that you still are able to have a nice clean finished look. And you're not gonna be seeing gaps around it and that sort of thing. So, really nice kit here to help cover up those gaps and help you to convert to that new water heater. So, that's gonna complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

Conversion trim kit to fit the WH-6GEA water heater into a larger Atwood water heater cutout. White finish.Happy with etrailer. NOT happy with the product.
I replaced an Attwood 6 gallon heater and the new door kit is larger than the opening. The wings that adapt the heater to the Attwood cutout are fine but I won't be able to use the new door without cutting a larger opening in my RV. So I'm retrofitting the old Attwood cover by moving the exhaust port screen as far as it will go to the right and then cutting a slot for the spring catch that holds the door in place.
This is a very nice water heater. I replaced my old 1999 model with this. The conversion was easy and it fired right up!
the order came in quickly and not damaged well order more from etrailer
Everything was perfect, just as advertised and promised. etrailer is Great.
