Video Transcript for Review of Redarc Brake Controller - 331-TPSI-007

Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the mounting panel for your Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller control knobs. This is part number 331-TPSI-007. This is going to mount onto your vehicle's dash. It's going to make it look a lot more like it came from the factory when you install your control knob from your Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller.

This will work with several different models of Toyota vehicles. You can find the list on the product page. The way this works, you'll take your button. You'll notice on the top, you've got a little extra knob there, that will fit into the knob on your mounting panel. So you just slide that in, make sure those are lined up, then you'll mount the rest of your hardware. Put that little washer there, then this nut.

You want to tighten that nut down to the specifications in the instruction manual. I'm not going to do that now just for the demonstration purposes. And then you can mount your dial. Once you have this installed, click it into place, and it's going to look a lot nicer than some of the other options you have on mounting your control knob. And it will still operate, allow you to have greater control on your braking system. Now, all these pieces are not included with your mounting panel.

They are included in the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer system so you should already have them. The panel itself comes by itself. That's going to complete our look at the mounting panel for your Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller control knob..

I am very pleased with the Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Control Knob that I purchased from etrailer.com. Brittany was invaluable in helping me to figure out which part I needed. She was very patient while she answered my endless questions, pulling up diagrams and pictures. It was a perfect fit for my 2005 Toyota Tundra, and the installation was quick and easy. The control knob fit perfectly and easily into the center console, using the mounting panel that perfectly replaced the original, giving me a factory look. I couldn't be happier with it, the product and the service.

Hey Perry. The install looks great! I'll also make sure to pass on your kudos to Brittany! What are you towing with your Tundra?

by:

Extremely easy plug and play for 2010 tacoma w/ factory tow package. Took 15 minutes.

by:

Just finished the install and testing with my travel trailer in tow.
Works perfect so far. Easy install if you have the factory tow package with the controller connector. Plug and Play.
Love the factory installed look!

2015 Tacoma - Install of Redarc Tow Pro Elite - Mounting Panel fit perfectly in an unused slot on the left side of the steering wheel. Finished product looks like a factory install.

One note, the rounded face does not let you use the marker bezel that goes behind the nut on the Tow Pro controller - not enough room to allow depressing the knob/button. I don't find this to be an issue since the LED is at the top and illuminates the number on the dial.

A year and several trips later and I am very happy with how the Tow Pro works and looks. The bezel issue mention in my earlier review was never a problem. One of the best things is that with the hidden installation I never notice that it is there until I need to use it.

by:

I didn't use this, as it wasn't correct for my application.

by:

The Redarc Pro Liberty Brake Controller came with both types of mounting panels. So I have two extras of each type. Wish the description of the Brake Controller told us that. Both mounting panels work great and are an exact fit for my 2021 Tacoma.

by:

Ended up no using this Hole was wrong size for the Tekonsha controller. However it does snap right into place in the switch housing.

by:

Great option for mounting switch.

by:

I ordered this setup for my 21 Tacoma with the tow package. The harness mated perfectly with the Toyota receptacle under the left front kick panel, the mounting panel looks factory and fit in the dash on the left side of the steering wheel, and the module is mounted to the inside of the kick panel. It is a tight fit, but I was able to get it all in there. I have not had a chance to use it yet. That will be in a month from now.

by:

Did not fit. Ended up getting correct from Honda dealer

by:

Perfect fit in 2023 Tacoma

by:

This insert is not exactly identical to the factory switches. It's a little darker in color, a little more glossy, and a little more narrow. However, fitment is still good, and now that I'm looking at it again for this review, the differences hardly seem noticeable. When it clicks into place, it stays there nice and snug. There's basically no risk of it accidentally popping out, like what you get with cheaper, more poorly made switch inserts.

I would definitely recommend getting this for your Tow Pro if you drive a late 2000s/early 2010s Toyota!

by:

Panel fit great on my 2012 Tacoma TRD Sport. Recognize that this panel will fit on the left side (the slots near the mirror control), while this panel
fits the slots under the radio/above the cup holder.

I accidentally ordered the wrong one, but etrailer is great with quick shipping, and I'm sure if I would have asked someone when I put the order together, they could have pointed me to the correct part.

by:

Perfect fit

by:

Best aftermarket brake controller on the market in my opinion. I used one of the blank knock-out switches in my 2020 Toyota Tacoma for a factory-esque installation.

by:

Perfect in my 2004 4Runner

by:

Love it! Makes my Redarc Towpro Elite look like an OEM install.

by:

Fit perfect in my 2019 Tacoma. All you need is a trim removal tool to pop out the tray and switch panel no screws and no need to try to remove the dash.

by:

Looks and works perfect on my 2021 Tacoma along with the Redarc Tow-Pro
break controller
Popped factory piece out and this one popped right in

by:

2021 tacoma trd or piece fits both the harness and truck perfectly definitely recommend

by:

It wasn't the correct one and I didn't know and I broke it

by:

Great worked well

by:

Glad this product is available for the Redarc Tow-Pro for my 2020 Tundra. When installed it will look as if it came from the factory using the blank provided by toyota. Wish information for this product was included in the information for the brake controller. It would have save a week. Good thing I was not in a hurry for the completed installation. Pleasure using etrailer web site and service. Very effecient.

  • Recommended Redarc Mounting Panel for a 2022 Toyota 4Runner
Hey Grant! Thanks for all the kind words, we're happy to have you! I absolutely recommend picking up the Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob item # 331-TPSI-007. This was designed specifically for those extra knockout panels in your Toyota 4Runner. We had a customer send in a picture of it installed on a 2020 4Runner that I have attached below. This will save you time installing the item # RED82CR as well. If you have any additional questions or...

  • Correct Redarc Mounting Panel For 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Offroad
Hey Scott, thanks for reaching out. The correct panel for your 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Offroad is the # 331-TPSI-002. The main difference between the # 331-TPSI-002 and # 331-TPSI-007 is the different vehicle years they fit. Both of these parts will fit a Tacoma but the # 331-TPSI-007 fits a 2005-2011 Tacoma while the # 331-TPSI-002 fits a 2015 to Current Tacoma. This will go on the center console switch like in the picture below.

The correct wiring harness needed for connecting the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller, # RED44FR, to your 2020 Toyota Tacoma, is the Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness # RED99FR. I suggest then using the Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob, # 331-TPSI-007 to mount in your dash for what will look like a factory installation. This is confirmed to fit on the left-side dash of your 2020 Tacoma uising one of the knock-out switches. Note the attached image.

  • What Brake Controller do I Want for My 2006 Toyota Tundra 4wd SR5?
Hello Thomas, Happy to get the right brake controller set-up for your 2006 Toyota Tundra. I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness - Dash Knob - Up to 2 Axles - Proportional # RED82CR. Since your Tundra has the factory tow package, the # RED82CR comes with the vehicle specific pigtail for a much easier install. I really like how the knob installs on your dash, nice to have it at hands reach if an emergency situation were to happen so you can easily hit...

  • Can Redarc Tow Pro Liberty Be Used On 2017 Honda Ridgeline
Hello Joel, thanks for reaching out. It is possible to use the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty # RED52VR in your 2017 Honda Ridgeline, however, Redarc does not make a custom pigtail for the Ridgeline. So, there are two routes we can go here. The first, and recommended solution is to actually make your own Redarc Custom pigtail. To do this you will need to order the Tekonsha pigtail for the Ridgeline part # 3070-P. What you do is cut off the end for the brake controller, then connect the wires to...
