Rear Suspension Support

SumoSprings helper springs are great for pickup trucks. Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the truck's weight. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

SumoSprings Rebel installed showing separation of 2-piece springs

The innovative 2-piece design of these Rebel springs allows for unlimited suspension travel. This means that there will be more movement in your suspension when you're unloaded or off-roading, which makes your ride smoother and more comfortable.

Each spring has 2 pieces. One piece attaches to the frame of your vehicle. And the other piece attaches to the axle, typically above your existing factory leaf spring. The pieces come together to provide support when you are towing or hauling a heavy load. When you're unloaded, they separate so that they don't restrict the movement of your suspension. The closed-cell urethane springs also act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

SumoSprings compressing under load

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings expand and compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts, and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

This kit comes with custom-fit brackets that are designed to easily bolt onto your vehicle.

I put a small leveling kit in my 2500hd Silverado. I noticed afterwards towing my excavator or dump trailer I was getting some rear sag when I had my trailers loaded heavy. I considered doing air bags for the rear. Instead I installed the sumo springs. I installed them in about an hour. Very happy with them. No noticeable difference in ride quality while empty. And they keep my truck level when I’m hauling my trailers. 5 stars!

2015 GMC Sierra 2500

Upon arrival I noted the Sumo Springs parts were well made and came with excellent installation instructions. I'm installing the springs to mitigate rear squatting of my 2015 GMC 2500HD 4x4 Danali when pulling our 5th Wheel Camper.
During installation two issues were identified.
1) the (2) top plates required some rehemming as the (2) center holes on each plate would not line up with top spring mounting plate holes allowing easy bolt up.
2) recommend manufacturer look at the passenger side rear bottom plate J-hook location as it interferes with the emergency brake cable bracket mounting bolt location and barely clears rear shock absorber.
Bottom line, regardless of good installation instructions be prepared to use your mechanical skills to complete job.

I installed the Sumo Springs prior to a 7500 mile trip on my 22GMC 2500. We was pulling our 34 foot Travel trailer and I believe the springs made all the difference in ride stability as well as control while pulling.

by:

Just as advertised. Easy install and doesn’t affect the ride. Will purchase again

Front and rear Sumo Springs installed. Have not had a chance to hit the highway as yet. Locally a very good ride. Thanks to Joanne K. for all of her help.

by:

I installed these front Sumos on my 2023 Ford F53 chassis Class A Tiffin for several reasons. The factory bump stops had fallen out so something needed to be installed. I decided to invest in the Sumos to provide suspension support and get all the benefits of Sumos. I installed them, test drove the coach and am pleased with the results. They help cushion the front end and provide anti roll assistance. They work well with the Konis to soften the natural harshness of leaf springs. I’m very pleased with this addition.

by:

Installation hardware did no work for my F53 chassis

by:

These springs made a big difference in the handling of my Newmar Baystar 31' motorhome. Much improved ride compared to the factory suspension.

by:

I put front sumos on my 35’ class A MH in 23. (22k F53 chassis). I noticed reduced front sway and better tracking. Especially improved when semis pass. I then put rear sumos on along with a 1-3/4 sway bar on the rear this year,24. Improved handling and ride all around. Nothing more to do. All for under $[XX].

by:

Installed front first and then took a trip on a curvy mountain road. I found they made a significant change in the ride and the sway. Very good update to a 2019 Ford F53 25000 chasis.

by:

I haven't had the springs under load, yet. I'm sure they'll perform as expected. I was not able to adjust the driver's side springs so that they align correctly. (see pic). The bottom spring does go into the top spring, but it's off enough that over time it will be an issue. Passenger side is spot-on! I have a 2024 F350 Tremor

  • Recommended SumoSprings Rear Helper Springs for 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500
We have two options of SumoSprings for your 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. The # SSR-203-40-2 is rated for 3,000 lb. capacity at 50% compression and the # SSR-203-47-2 is rated at 5,000 lb. capacity at 50% compression. The 3,000 lb. rated # SSR-203-40-2 are typically adequate for most and my recommendation needed for lighter towing or have light or mid-size fifth wheel trailers. If you need for heavier-duty application such as towing a larger 5th wheel or toy haulers, I suggest you...

  • 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD SumoSpring Recommendation for Towing a Trailer with Weight Distribution
We have 2 different SumoSpring kits that fit your 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD: - 1,500 lb Capacity # SSR-207-47 - 3,000 lb Capacity # SSR-203-40-2 With an ideal weight distribution system you won't need any kind of suspension help so I recommend choosing the one that best suits your needs when you aren't towing. If you only plan on light duty loads in your truck bed then the 1,500 kit is the better option, but if you plan on loading up your truck bed pretty heavily then I recommend...

The best SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs for a 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 are the Rebel's, part # SSR-203-40-2 for 3,000 lbs or part # SSR-203-47-2 for 5,000 lbs. These are both great bolt-on options which will assist with load leveling while towing/hauling. They will also help to reduce sway and absorb road shock/vibrations. Please note, I don't recommend just going with the highest rated option as it's best to be in the middle of the spring's capacity as this will allow them to provide the...

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement To Level A 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 Out While Hauling A Trailer
Hey John, If you're referring to the SuperSprings # SSA13MXKT you wouldn't really be getting much of an improvement over the RAS system since they operate the same way and both have similar capacities. Air springs would allow you tor adjust the height quite a bit more precisely but require a maintenance and you'd need an air compressor to adjust the psi levels. You could increase the capacity of your jounce springs to ones like the # SSR-203-47-2 but that could affect you unloaded ride...

  • Difference Between SumoSprings Rebel and Solo Suspension Kits for 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500
Hey Justin, for your 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 the big difference between the SumoSprings Solo part # SSR-207-47 and the Rebel part # SSR-203-40-2 is the weight capacity of either. The Solo can provide up to an additional 1,500 lbs of support and the Rebel 3,000 lbs so you'll get a lot more with the Rebel. So if you'll be towing a lot of weight closer to the capacity of the truck go with the Rebel but if you won't really get close to the capacity it would be better to go with the Solo....

The SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-203-40-2 are what I recommend for a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. These springs will be great for all recreational towing jobs whereas the higher rated part # SSR-203-47-2 will be more geared towards constant work applications. The reason you just don't want to go with the highest rated options is because the higher rated springs are stiffer and will have a rougher ride when you rated for them.

The SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SSR-203-40-2 are a two piece design so when you aren't hauling anything they wouldn't really compress at all. SumoSprings has told us that these will remain functional down to negative 25 degrees so as long as you are at that temp or above they would function like normal. Beyond -25 the Timbren would be the better choice part # TGMRCK25D as they aren't affected at colder temps.
