Recommended Suspension Upgrade for a 2025 Chevy Silverado 3500 w/ a In Bed Camper

Updated 08/15/2025 | Published 07/23/2025

Question:

Hi, I have a 2025 Chevy 3500 4x4 that I will be putting an approximate 4000 slide in truck camper on it occasionally. Im looking at the replacement bumpstops. I use the truck quite a bit empty and only load the camper when needed. so empty ride quality is important. You have 2 styles. Timbren recommends the severe service ones. My concern is the ride when empty, which the truck is most of the time. I have also already added the torqlift upper stabiloads, so I think this combination would increase ride harshness when empty. So my question is based on mostly empty use and occasionally using the camper and having the upper stabiloads, would the standard timbrens be a better choice?

Hey Jim, congrats on the new truck. I would strongly advise staying away from the Severe Service Timbren Suspension Enhancement System item # TGMRTT35D. You're really going to feel those when you're driving around without your camper. Those are for trucks like yours that have work beds permanently installed on them.

The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs item # SSR-207-47 are going to be a better option if you're just wanting to replace the bump stops. A better option though is going to be the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs item # SSR-203-40-2. These install on the inside of your leaf spring packs above the axle. They have a 3,000 lbs capacity that only engages when there's weight put on them.

What kind of in bed camper do you have?

Hey Jim, how's it going with the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs? Did they help with the ride quality when your truck is empty? I'm curious because it could really help others who are in a similar situation with their trucks.
