Question:
Hi, I have a 2020 2500 HD towing a Travel Trailer that weighs 12000 pounds loaded. I bought your RAS system for my truck and I still have 3/4” squat in the back and 1/2” rise in the front. I have the RAS set to 2.5 MM spacing and also have regular sumo springs in place of the factory bump stops. I was planning on replacing the sumo springs with airbags but now I’m thinking about getting the Sumo Super Springs instead of airbags. I have a fiberglass cap on the truck box and my weight distribution hitch weighs 100 pounds. We also have Rock Tamers attached to the Weight Distribution Hitch. My tongue weight is 1400 pounds. What Sumo Super Spring do you recommend for our application. We do not tow frequently, but when we do I also carry around 500 additional pounds of weight in the back of the truck along with our camper. I will keep the RAS installed but I’m looking to add additional support to eliminate any squat in the rear.

Hey John,
If you're referring to the SuperSprings # SSA13MXKT you wouldn't really be getting much of an improvement over the RAS system since they operate the same way and both have similar capacities. Air springs would allow you tor adjust the height quite a bit more precisely but require a maintenance and you'd need an air compressor to adjust the psi levels. You could increase the capacity of your jounce springs to ones like the # SSR-203-47-2 but that could affect you unloaded ride quality in a negative way.
The 5,000lb capacity spring # SSR-203-47-2 won't want to compress much unless you're loaded up so if your front suspension isn't stiff enough you'll get a front-to-back wave feeling when driving. With you already using a RAS system I'd only go up to the 3,000lb capacity springs # SSR-203-40-2 to help with the sag. That being said you'd still likely have a little bit of sag, but 3/4" in the back and 1/2" up front is well within tolerance.
If you really want to even it out then air springs like the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2613 would be the best option. You can air them up enough to level the ride and then lower the psi when unloaded to prevent a stiff rear suspension.
