I have a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD LT. I will be towing a fifth wheel Trailer. GVWR is 14,000.00. Which Sumosprings would you recommend for the rear axle of the truck? Thanks.

That’s a great truck for a fifth wheel Albert. For your 2024 Silverado 2500 HD LT, I’d recommend the SumoSprings Rebel rear kit part # SSR-203-40-2. They are rated around 3,000 lbs at 50% compression and designed to handle the kind of pin weight you’ll see with a 14,000-lb fifth wheel. The Rebel springs give you progressive support, meaning they help keep the truck level under load while still riding comfortably when you’re not towing. The lighter Solo kit (rated around 1,500 lbs) is better for lighter loads. With a fifth wheel like yours, you’ll appreciate the extra support the higher-rated Rebel springs provide.

Keep in mind, SumoSprings don’t increase your truck’s official towing or payload ratings, they help control sag, improve stability, and reduce bounce when you’re loaded. Installation is bolt-on and maintenance-free, so once they’re on, you’re set.

To fine-tune things, what fifth wheel model are you towing, and do you usually carry extra gear in the bed like tools, a generator, or other equipment? it is a Montana high country 295RL 2024. what would you actually recommend for a better ride loaded and unloaded between the sumo Springs, Timbren or airlift 5000 bags? also, if you recommend the airlift springs, do you recommend the ones with the Jounce built in or without? I have heard that the ones with the built-in the right is harsh when unloaded.

@AlbertC Thanks for the extra details, that helps a lot. For your 2024 Silverado 2500HD towing a Montana High Country 295RL with three slide-outs, I’d recommend the Air Lift 5000 air bags (standard version without the built-in jounce) part # AL57341. That’s going to give you the best balance of support when you’re towing and comfort when you’re not. Between the Air Lift versions, I’d stick with the standard 5000 without the built-in jounce for the smoothest unloaded ride. The built-in jounce adds extra backup support but can feel slightly firmer when empty. That 295RL is a big fifth wheel, and with three slides your pin weight is likely in the 2,500–3,000+ lb range when loaded. That’s where adjustable air bags really shine. You can air them up when you’re hitched to level the truck and reduce sag and porpoising, then lower the pressure when you’re empty so the ride feels close to stock. If you’d rather keep it simple and skip air, I’d still go with the SumoSprings Rebel over Timbrens. The Rebels are more progressive and generally ride smoother unloaded. Timbrens are strong and maintenance-free, but they can feel firmer and create a pretty rough ride when unloaded. but for overall loaded and unloaded comfort, the standard Air Lift 5000 is the best fit. I know our website says part # AL57341is not a fit for your Chevy but I confirmed with Air lift that this is the kit you need as long your truck is not a ZR2 or AT4X model and has the factory fifth wheel hitch setup not an aftermarket. This kit will not fit with an aftermarket fifth wheel hitch setup that has brackets on the vehicle's frame. Let me know if you have an aftermarket fifth wheel hitch setup with rails in the bed.
