Fulton Trailer Winch - F142306

For your toughest pulling demands, Fulton single-speed winches are long-lasting, corrosion resistant. Solid drum-gear construction prevents corrosion between the drum and gear. Includes a 20' strap. 1,800-lb Capacity.

    • Lasts longer than a riveted drum gear

  • Z-Max 600 finish provides superior rust resistance
  • Comfort-grip handle makes cranking easy
  • Convenient design is for use with either rope or strap
    • Strap with snap hook included

Specs:

  • Handle length: 9"
  • Gear ratio: 4.1:1
  • Number of gear teeth:
    • Large: 48
    • Small: 12
  • Drum storage:
    • 20' x 7/16" Rope
    • 20' x 2" Strap (included)
  • Capacity: 1,800 lbs
  • 3-Year limited warranty

Fulton single-speed winches feature efficient gear ratios, full-length drum bearings, oil-impregnated shaft bushings and "Comfort Grip" handles. High-carbon steel gears are strong and long-lasting, and stamped carbon steel frames ensure rigidity for gear alignment and a long cycle life.

This winch features solid drum-gear construction, which means that the drum and the gear are 1 single piece. Unlike other winches that have a drum and gear that are riveted together, which leaves space in between, this winch's solid construction ensures there are no spaces that water or debris can get into. Because water can't get in, there is no risk of damaging corrosion between the drum and gear, ensuring years of worry-free operation.

Video Transcript for Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch Review and Installation

Jake: Hey guys, this is Jake here with etrailer. Today we're going to take a look at and I'm going to show you how to get in place the Fulton trailer winch. Now this winch is going to be available in a few different sizes. Just see etrailer for your correct fitment. This is going to be a one speed winch, which means it's going to have one gear paired with the outside gear for the spool itself, so it's going to have one speed to bring the strap back into itself rather than those two speeds that may be a little bit more complicated to use. Although you might get a little bit faster pull out of them, they have more things on them to break. The body of the winch itself is going to have a heavy duty steel construction with a zinc finish, which is going to help resist against that rusting corrosion that this winch may be susceptible to because of the amount of water it's going to be exposed to.It's going to have a seven inch handle which is plenty of handle to give you enough leverage to tighten up your boat to where it's secure.

This knob here on the end is pivoting so that you have a comfortable grip when tightening that down. This winch is going to have three different directions. You can have it in forward like we have now, which is when you're pulling your boat towards you. Reverse is when you flip it all the way down and this is going to allow you to have a controlled release of your boat, or you can shift it into neutral, which is in the middle of the two. This is going to make it a lot easier in the neutral position to be able to pull it out to a full length without having to uncrank it all the way. With this winch, you are going to get a 20 foot strap.

That's going to be really, really handy in those cases where your motor on your boat might die and you don't have any other option to get it up onto the trailer. You can simply unhook this, shift it into the neutral mode, tote it back to the back of your trailer, hook it up and crank it all the way up onto the trailer. Now that we've gone over some of those details, let's go ahead and take a look at how easy it is to get installed. To get your new winch installed, you're going to start by inserting your hardware. Now you can reuse your old hardware, but ours was so rusted that we went ahead and got some new hardware. You will have to supply this yourself.

The kit does not come with any. There we go, and now we can go ahead and tighten those two nuts down. Now to get your handle in place, once you have your winch all tightened down, take that nut off, insert your handle, and replace nut. Here we go. Once you have the nut tightened down on the handle you can go ahead and clip it into your boat and crank it down. You do want to give it a few cranks just to get this spool tighter than what the factory has it at. There we go, that's tight enough. Now once you have everything all tightened down and your boat secured, you're ready to hit the road. With all that being said, that's going to do it for our look at the Fulton trailer winch..

ETrailer has filled several orders for me since I began customizing a used boat trailer a couple of years ago. They have fulfilled every order speedily and accurately, and their products have more than met my needs. This time it was the winch to be replaced, and I am very satisfied. 594665

Winch was a direct replacement for the existing broken one on my boat trailer. It was important that bolt hole pattern matched up. Mfg has extended length of handle by 2 inches, which doesn't work for me,as my hand will hit boat when cranked tight.I just took shorter handle off the old one and am gonna use it unstead. 544184

The winch didn't fit my application..too large a diameter. Got a hold of Mike at etrailer and reordered one that would fit. Very helpful. While I was on the phone, I ordered additional parts to retrofit the "trailer project". Got the return all set-up. Excellent customer service! 187888

Had an older version (Fulton T1801) of this winch that needed a ratchet repair kit. The ratchet repair kit changes the winch functionality from two way to one way. Therefore, I went with the newest version of this winch. Visually, you could see some components are beefier than the old T1801 model. Its ratchet is beefier and of a different design too. The winch is a direct bolt in for the old unit. In today's times it can be difficult to obtain good customer service as many companies tend to cut corners in this area. Not in this case as I received great customer service from William B on this product. Jerry 652378

  • Recommended Replacement Winch for a Fulton T1801
  • I have a solution for you. The Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch - 10" Long Handle, w/ 20 FT Strap - 1,800 lbs, # F142306, is the winch I recommend for your application. This winch uses a 2-way ratchet system and has a solid drum design which is much more corrosion resistant than the typical riveted drum and gear assemblies on other winches. This winch is a replacement for the T1801Z0301 that was originally the replacement for the T1801 Fulton winch.

  • Ratchet Repair Kit Needed for Fulton T1801 Single Speed Boat Winch
  • I believe you need the Ratchet Repair Kit # F501117 as it is for the Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch # F142306 which is the only 1,800 lb boat winch available. The Winch Ratchet Repair Service Kit # F1596S01 that you referenced is for the 1,600 lb F2 Fully Enclosed Trailer Winch # FW16000101. If you have a different winch just send me a picture of it and I can reach out to my contact at Fulton to see if there is a different kit for your application.

  • Recommended Fulton 1500 lb Hand Winch for Boat Trailer
  • Since you currently have a 1500 lb capacity winch, I'd recommend staying with that capacity, as long as it's working well for you. Since you're using the winch to pull a boat up on a trailer, I'd recommend using a winch with a strap, rather than a steel cable which can corrode over time. You probably don't need a two speed winch or a brake winch because you're not hoisting anything up in the air. I'd go with the Fulton Single Speed 1500 lb capacity winch, part # F142201. This winch is...

  • Mounting Base Dimensions for Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch # F142306
  • I went out to our warehouse to take some measurements of the mounting base on the Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch # F142306. The plate itself measures 6 inches long and 4 inches wide. The mounting pattern features a few oblong holes that allows it to match various patterns. I have attached an image with their dimensions below. Please just let me know if you need any additional measurements and I will be happy to take them.

  • Can Handle Be Moved to Opposite Side of Fulton 1.8K Trailer Winch F142306
  • In order to move the handle to the opposite side on the Fulton trailer winch # F142306 you would have to flip everything from the drum to all of the shafts upside down. It can be done though. To be clear though the handle is already on the right side of the winch. The straps pays out in the direction away from the paw/switch.

  • Does New Mounting Hardware Need to be Used When Mounting New Winch
  • The Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch # F142306 that you referenced does not come with mounting hardware as it has a variety of mounting options due to the locations of the mounting holes. As long as your old mounting hardware is in good shape it is okay to use it. I have attached a review video for you to check out. Our team member goes through the various mounting locations at the 3:00 mark.

  • Mounting Hole Distance for Fulton Boat Winch
  • I went out to the warehouse to measure the distance between the mounting holes on the Fulton Fulton Single Speed Trailer Winch # F142306 and found the distance between the center hole and left hole to be 3/8". The holes on the Fulton are elongated as you can see in the accompanying photo and are standard for mounting holes on winches.

  • Recommended Replacement Hand Winch for 1996 EZ Loader Boat Trailer
  • Fulton no longer makes the T1602 winch, it's been replaced by the F2, part # FW16000101. If you're happy with the way your old one performed, it would be good replacement. If you wanted to go up to an 1800 lb capacity, you could use the Fulton # F142306 that you referenced. Choosing a winch with capacity to spare is never a bad idea. For more information about hand winches, take a look at the help article I've linked you to.

  • Recommended Hand Winch to Pull Up a 3,500 Pound Vehicle onto a Tow Dolly
  • There are a few options I recommend when using a winch to pull a 3,500 pound car onto a tow dolly. The Fulton single speed hand winch # F142306 has a 1,800 pound capacity. A winch can pull a rolling load that exceeds its rated capacity, but an incline, like the ramps on your tow dolly, adds some resistance. To find the amount of load that can be pulled up an incline, multiply the winch capacity by the factor shown in the chart (see the help article on hand winches I included). For example,...
