We have a Grand Design Reflection 5th wheel with the refridgerator on the rear wall, and we kept having issues with the fridge doors coming open during bumpy travel, so we installed the Sumo Springs based on a number of other reviews that indicated it would restrict the trailers bouncing. Total success, we have not had the doors open since the install, and generally feel less bouncing as we travel. The trailer also has less bounce when stationary, an added benefit.

No problems at all, everything I said in first review remains, the refrigerator doors stay closed, despite some very bumpy roads, and we travel about 6 month each year in 5th wheel!

@John We're happy to hear that, thank you for checking back in!

My toy hauler when loaded maxes out the 2 8000# axels. These Sumo Springs stop the over travel of the suspension and stops the spring sag that these trailers are noted for. The ride is more under control and there is less effect on the contents.

We purchased these SumoSprings for our 2019 Heartland Fuel 250 knowing that they would not fit our leaf spring top plates, but I knew I could modify the mounting bracket to accommodate our RV. For anyone who has Dexter axles with shocks, you most likely have a 5-1/2” wide leaf spring top plate. If you are handy and have an acetylene torch or map gas you can simply heat and bend the inside bracket, drill a 1/2” hole and through bolt it to an existing hole in the top plate. I actually think this is a more secure install. Overall, it would be nice if there was an exact fit for our Rv, but it was an easy fix. Great product.

etrailer provides quality products you can trust. Sumo springs made a big difference in the ride quality of my fifth wheel going down the road. It helped with chucking and takes some of the roughness out of the roads. Items in the cupboards are still a mess when we get to our destination, but less of a mess. Highly recommend!!

Installed on 2022 Jayco NorthPoint 310RLTS. Took them on their maiden voyage east on 138, south on 15 and 215 into Santee Lakes, Ca. Appears they have mitigated some of the rebound caused by springs, however don't expect it to eliminate all. There was still at times significant "bouncing" when transitioning bridge gaps or wonderful LA / San Bernardino Freeways.

Having had Timbren springs on my last truck and really enjoying the support, wondering now if I should have gone with them?

Bottom line, they WORK, just less than I would of expected. But then again, my expectations might have been too high.

If you own a camper, and you are planning on towing it on the crappy roads in America, you need these springs to cushion the ride and protect your investment. Install is fairly simple and straight forward. Just take your time and don't rush it.

by:

Very easy to install. The rough and uneven road and ride on our fifth wheel is vastly improved.

Still working great.

I bought these believing I needed them for the leaf springs. I had set them aside so I could return them. Naturally, I forgot about them and a year later I contact the company and they tell me they won’t return them and suggest I sell them on social media. I have bought two leaf spring kits and due to my recent interactions I will never buy another set or recommend them to anyone. Very disappointed.

by:

A must have for additional support for the leaf springs and makes the towing experience much smoother

by:

The springs do work I'm not sure how much they help. I take a trip across the USA every year. (10K miles) The roads are rough. I might be expecting too much, still have cabinet doors come open. I do feel they support the suspension.

by:

Installation was very simple. I didn't need to relocate a gas line which made the job even easier. It took me longer to crawl under the trailer than it took to install them. I have not towed yet, but I'm confident they will make a huge improvement on the trip from Michigan to Texas.

by:

Very easy to install plan taking big trip in a few months can’t wait to see how they handle. Update to follow.

by:

I love my SumoSprings they work and they were easy to put on

by:

Sumospring are the best solution for fifth wheel and highly recommended, it's help to reduce bouncing on leafspring and save the water tanks won't cracks or failure due to bad highway conditions and keep the trailer level when you make right or left turn, I really happy with it, amazing every fifth wheel owner should have.

by:

So far so good. Easy install. Used trailer jacks to give me the 1/2-1” of lift required to install these. Definitely feel the difference in stability/lean when going around corners and hitting bumps. Will be putting a few thousand miles on this summer and these will provide some peace of mind knowing the suspension system isn’t taking as bad of a beating. A little pricey for rubber springs especially since I need four, but sometimes peace of mind comes at a price.

by:

Only used them for one trip
ended up
installing larger slipper spring set up

by:

Be sure to measure BEFORE ordering or face a minimum $25 return shipping fee! Per Supersrings, you need a minimum of 6.25” from the top of the base plate to the bottom of the trailer frame. I only have 4-4.25”. When I called Supersprings, I was told I could probably get away with a minimum of 5.5” but anything less would cause too much compression and cause damage.

by:

They were easy to install. I added them before our trip from East Tx to the UP of Michigan. Didn’t really have a comparison road, but some of it was pretty rough. We had fewer incidences of Velcro-hung wall decorations falling down than previous trips. Grand Design 310 GK. I also put a set on the front of my F350 4WD to try to reduce front end wear and delay the onset of death wobble. I don’t really know if that is working.

by:

Great purchase! Arrived on time and installation was simple. Pull a 42' 16.5K 5th wheel and noticed a big difference in how much it bounces around after hitting bumps in the road.

by:

Couldn't believe the difference in the ride of the trailer. I would highly recommend this product

by:

added these to the RoadMaster comfort ride system. just a little insurance as well as added a little ride height increase.

by:

I have a 37' bumper pull toy hauler weighing 13,000lb and the Helper Springs are amazing. Less sway and my coffee machine does not fall off the table during traveling anymore :)

by:

I have had the Sumo Springs for over a year. At first I did not like them because they made the trailer ride too rough. I could tell after a trip because the inside storage items were all messed up. I read on etrailer web site that you could "cut" the Sumo Springs to fit, which is just what I did. I measured the distance from the bottom of the frame to the top of the Sumo Spring bracket, then cut the springs using a hack saw to fit. I cut approximately 2 to 3 inches off each spring. After doing that about 6 months ago I noticed a huge improvement. The 5th wheel does not sway side to side when going around corners or with crosswinds, it is much more stable now. I have not broken any more spring leaf's, and the ride is much improved because the inside storage items are not messed up at the end of the trip. I would recommend these for any trailer or 5th wheel.

by:

It took longer to thaw out my hands than it did for the actual installation, Once I put the 1st one on to figure out how many pucks I needed to add (All 2 for each) and pre-assembling the other 3 the rest was easy. I read several reviews that some went on crooked, there brackets that mount to the spring plate with numbers stamped in them one ending in a 1 and the other ending in a 2, the parts look so similar they can get mixed up by ignoring those numbers, I had to take one apart is how I know. Other than that the 30 degree temperature was the only other hard part!

by:

These SumoSprings have improved the rid of my 5th wheel tremendously! I am so happy I purchased these and had them installed!
