Question:

How do you get this sumo spring to work on a Curt axle on a Grand Design fifth wheel. It has the regular top plate but there is a device I think it is anti lock sensor on the axle hub that prevents the inside clamp from fitting down on the top plate. Is there a fix for this. A different inside clamp part with a void to allow for the object blocking normal install clamp. Or, can I grind out the center of the clamp to fit around the obstruction? This must be a Curt axle issue as I had these installed in a previous Grand Design fifth wheel with no issue. Love these sumo springs. Need them on our new fiver.

That is a great question. Curt (formerly Lippert) has very recently started offering ABS axles for newer Solitude models. We have not gotten a chance to attempt to install a Sumo Spring kit like the # SS26MV on an axle with the anti lock braking system. It certainly will be an issue with these Curt axles going forward. As of right now it we cannot say with certainty what will fit and what won't.

That said, we do not recommend modifying the clamps or brackets in any way as this will void your warranty. If you are able to provide a few pictures showing the anti lock sensor and how it obstructs the clamp we are happy to take a look and see what can be done.
