Replacement Leaf Springs for 2022 Grand Design Solitude With 7k Axles

Updated 12/23/2025 | Published 12/13/2025

Question:

2022 GD Solitude with 7k axles. Long story short, the two front leafs on my 5th wheel blew apart on the way home from our last trip. We able to get it to a dealer for repair. They only replaced the front leafs and it looks like they used 26E-3500. 6 leaf 3500lb springs. I need to buy 2 more so all 4 are replaced. I see you have one that should be a match. Is there an upgraded leaf I could use? Id need to replace all 4 of course. My camper isnt that old but as you can see from the pictures the rear springs are very flat pic1. Pic2 is the new springs. I just dont know if I want to deal with this again in a couple years. Thanks!

Hey JT! Sorry to hear about your trouble with the leaf springs. Hopefully there wasn't a lot of damage and everyone stayed safe. From what I have found the 26E-3500 is the same as the Dexter 072-027-00. This is the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 7,000-lb Trailer Axles - 24-7/8" Long # DX75CR. I recommend double checking the measurements of this leaf spring to make sure they line up with what was put on, see the attached photo.

If you can find a 6-leaf double eye spring with a higher rating that matches the length you could upgrade to 8k leaf springs. However, anything we carry that matches would be 7-leaf like the # DX74XR so you would need to replace all 4 so they're the same height on both axles.

I see you were also looking at the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # SS26MV. These are a great way to help take some of the load off your leaf springs so you don't run into the same issue again. They will smooth out your ride and help with sway and roll as well. As long as you have 5-5/16" - 6-1/2" from the top of the spring plate to the bottom of the trailer frame you can add these to your Solitude.

Hi, I just had a follow up question, what is the difference between DX75CR and E89FV? I know one is 7 leaf and 8k, and other is 6 leaf and 7k, but the price difference is what I guess I'm confused about.

@Jt the # e89FV is our own brand. We're able to keep the cost down compared to Dexter leaf springs like # DX75CR since we source them directly.

@RobinH I'm so glad I asked and kept looking at your site. That seems like a great option. What U bolts would you recommend since these have an additional leaf? I currently have 7k axles so wasn't sure if the 8k U bolts would work or if there is something different. Thanks for everything, this has been awesome!

@Jt as long as 24-7/8" eye to eye is what you need the # e89FV will work then. You don't want the 8k U-bolts since those are for a different diameter axle. Your 7k axle will be 3" in diameter so you want U-bolts designed for 7k, just the right length. The ones in your picture look like they'll be short so I would measure those and go to a longer length, still for 7k. The extra leaf will add 3/8" to the height of the leaf spring stack.
