Rugged, Matte Black Finish

The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. This unique powder coating gives etrailer hitches a carbide-like appearance and a rugged look that sets them apart from traditional glossy hitches. In addition to being rust and corrosion resistant, the tough matte coating hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish.

Delivery, service and price are excellent. I only gave it a 4 star because when installing the trailer hitch the holes were off by about 1" and took some time to make everything fit.

I am glad that you got it to work out Jan. Sometimes hitch receiver brackets can be flexed and need some bending back into alignment. There is more about it in this help article:

So easy to install and it arrived on the very day it was promised to arrive!! It’s a perfect fit for our 2013 Toyota Highlander. Thanks so much, to the fine folks at etrailer.com! I would recommend this site to anyone in need of a trailer hitch receiver.

Fit perfect! Arrived pretty quick too! I'm not a pro at any of this and I only had a small tool set that made everything easy. I did it by myself with the help on my medicine ball as a leverage on the other side so I could bolt in 1 side! Don't laugh but it's true. Only thing I haven't done is cut out the bottom panel of the driver side. Everything else is bolted and ready to go!

Purchased this for hauling mtb bikes on the back of our old highlander. Etrailer was recommended by a popular local hitch shop as they had no stock in inventory for our vehicle. Package arrived quickly, the box was a bit beat up, but the hitch was in good condition with no obvious blemishes/issues. Started installation on passenger side and found driver side bolt holes to be off by as much as 1.5". Followed instructions on [etrailer], using a 2x4 and car jack to spread out mounting brackets and after futzing for a bit, fit no problem. Some pointers.. much easier to install with 2 people; measure gaps before starting to force spread mounting brackets so you don't have to check by 'fit test'; only had to cut a small amount out of driver side plastic underbody panel to get back on, passenger side didn't need any; overall plan on 2-3 hours start to finish. Took a star off because of dealing with re-aligning mounting brackets, otherwise looks good and is solid.

Box arrived via UPS and was ripped open at the corner. I was worried that the hardware was missing but eTrailer was smart enough to tape the hardware into the receiver so it was all accounted for. The hitch is sturdy and seems well made. You definitely need two strong people for the install and either use a lift or ramps so you have more room to work. The only issue we encountered was that the middle hole on the driver’s side was a hair off which would have made the bolt go in sideways. With a lot of muscle we were able to get the hitch aligned to insert the bolt. Having to seriously struggle with the middle hole on the driver’s side for about 20 minutes made my rating 4 stars instead of 5. In total it took us about 2 hours to complete and we have some mechanical experience. All in all, the price was good, quality seems good, I would recommend this hitch.

Delivery was quick. Placed order Sunday arrived Thursday. Four day delivery fee $x.xx. Nice! Videos of what was involved was spot on for my vehicle. I had two people helping, a floor jack and a scissors jack to help position the hitch. It would seem that during shipping the box was dropped at some point as the holes did not line up perfectly and I ended up using a scissors jack against the spare to splay the hitch slightly to get the final bolt to start by fingers. Overall very satisfied.

Very nice hitch. Looks and works great on my 2012 Toyota Highlander. I had my mechanic install it since he was doing a bunch of work anyway. But he said it was really simple and didn’t take very long.

I am still very happy with my trailer hitch. My car is a 4 cyl so I cant tow anything, but I have been able to take my family on numerous bike and camping trips during COVID, which has been great. Its very sturdy and no doubt could handle much more than I do with it. Great value for the cost!

What I loved about this product was how it was designed exactly for my vehicle. I also appreciated etrailers awesome installation video which, if you are at all handy, tells and shows you exactly how to install it. What was not great was that the product was slightly warped meaning that the bolt holes did not line up the way that they should have. I was forced to install one side and push with all my might with my legs while lying on my back to bend the entire thing about 1/2 inch so that my son could quickly get the bolts installed. That worked well, but should not be necessary.

I dont know what to rate this since it came and the holes don't line up to the vehicle frame holes. etrailer says this is common but I really wonder. It doesn't seem like I should have to try to bend this just so it fits.

E trailer's branded hitch for the 2008 highlander seems to be made of quality materials and came in at a great price, however it didn't exactly fit my vehicle. There was no damage to the box during shipping so I don't think the misalignment was due to damage. Once I got the side over the muffler loosely bolted in was able to use a clamp and pull it into alignment with the bolt holes on the drivers side. Not an easy install but managed to make it work.

2013 Toyota Highlander

The hitch seems well made and sturdy. I plan to use it for small trailers, a hitch cargo rack and a bike rack. Installation was fairly easy and straight forward. I put the rear end up on ramps for accessibility. A second person would have made it easier, but I was able to make due with jack stands. The front drivers side bolt hole did not line up, but I was able to solve the issue with a 4"x4" wedged against the spare tire. The diagram for cutting the drivers side under panel was a little off and I has to cut the hole larger than shown. The passenger side panel required no cutting at all. Good value for the price.

The product worked great. Installation instructions were helpful, and it it took me less than hour to install it. Good price and quality product that has made it through one New England winter and still looks good as new (finish seems to be better than other hitched I have had.

The hitch arrive in good time. Nice sturdy build quality. All mounting hardware was in the package. Harness adapter was easy to install. Only cons was the hitch had to be clamped in place to align the bolt holes. And the 10amp fuse that was supposed to be included was not in the harness box

- e98858
by:

Great product - it did arrive "flexed", but that was easily resolved following the instructions provided on the site for previous customers - 2x4 and jack did the trick. I have a 2013 Hybrid and LESS trimming was required for the cover panels than stated. A couple of small cuts in the driver side and none on the passenger side.

- e98858
by:

The hitch was delivered on time and appears to be of excellent quality. The only problem I had was the bolt holes did not line up with the vehicle bolt points. It was off about two inches and I spent most of the installation time trying to pry, bend and stretch the hitch to get the bolts in. I'm sure I lost a year or so off my life from all the stress. This IS NOT A ONE PERSON JOB and should only be attempted by someone who is mechanically handy with lots of tools and patience. I'm fairly sure I'm going to hell from all the curse words I shouted as I struggled with the installation. I used a bottle jack and a two by four to spread the flanges and had to install and remove the hitch several times before I was finally successful. It was exhausting by myself. If a buddy owes you labor then call him first. Good luck with your hitch installation.

- e98858

Great product. Fitment was okay just needed to get a pry bar to bend it a little so it would line up with the wholes. Very sturdy and works great. Doesn’t look bad either

It was not the best of my experience to install this hitch. I thought it was a direct connect to install it and then when and tried it the holes did not line up. I contacted etrailer to provide me instructions and mentioned that it should fit only I need to flex it (this is hard steel - not easy). I tried to flex it on the floor with a jack and I could see that the material had some flexibility but once the the jack was removed the part went to the original state. I decided that once I had it semi-mounted I used a hydraulic jack to flex it (thinking back it seems that it was not a safe process) I had to use another jack to support it. The process worked. Installation and rework process about 6 hours. Probably this not the best feedback for this item, but hopefully the design can be improved or a test step can be added prior shipping these type of hitch.

The etrailer hitch was a snap to install on our 2012 Highlander. I had installed another brand on our 2008 Highlander and the drivers side panel was not aligned when it was welded (what a pain). In contrast, the etrailer model e98858, went it in perfectly. One person operation in a bout an hour. Was using it the next day to haul 4 bikes on our Hollywood SportRack 4 all purchased from etrailer. The receiver works great! The flat black powder coat finish looks amazing in person. Photo's on the website do not do it justice. Thanks again etrailer, you're the best and I will continue to recommend you!

It didn’t line up with the holes on my car very well. It seemed like it was built slightly out of square. I had to bend it open about an inch to get the holes closest to to front of the car to line up(it wasn’t the easiest thing to do).

Hitch fit nicely with no drilling as advertised. Instructions were pretty good although I missed something when it came to trimming the piece underneith to fit around the mounting ear. Used it many times in the last year with no worries.

2013 Toyota Highlander

This is a good quantity hitch. It starts from being properly packaged for shipment. I’ve ordered other hitches before and they arrive with paint chipped off. The hitch is stout, I like the flat paint vs shiny and quality mounting hardware. I would recommend adding a crowbar to the list of tools to install. No matter how I attempted to line things up to get the bolts started it required prying on one side or the other to get the holes to line up. Last, the instructions and video showed trimming the plastic panels. Only after cutting the right side did I realize that I could have cut less and had it held in place by an extra bolt. Those two issues kept me from giving it 5 stars but in general this is a very good hitch.
