Expert Reply:
Your 2011 Toyota Highlander is compatible with hitch receivers from Curt, etrailer, and Draw-Tite. These three hitch receivers have a maximum tongue weight of 750 lbs and a maximum gross trailer weight of 5,000 lbs.
The difference from the center of the hitch pin to the edge of the bumper are as follows;
etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2", part # e98858, distance = 1 1/2"
Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2", part # 13534, distance =1 1/2"
Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2", part # 75726, distance = 0".
The differences between the three hitch receiver options are minimal, though the etrailer hitch receiver is made in the USA and it has a matte black powder coated finish. The other hitch receivers have a glossy black powder coated finish.
I have included product description links and installation videos below.
