Fully welded vehicle trailer hitch is strong and durable. Draw-Tite's Tested Tough guarantee ensures that this hitch exceeds industry standards. The combination of an e-coat base and a powder coat finish provides excellent rust protection.

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I wanted as heavy duty a rack as I could get for the new ebike and heavy rack the ebike made necessary. I probably should have asked questions before I installed it on my 2021 Legacy; all the reviews and comments I saw were for Outbacks, which have a few more inches of ground clearance. For anyone else considering installing on a Legacy, the installed hitch face is tucked under the rear bumper by 2.5". The bottom of the hitch is 6" off the ground. Both of those numbers work for me (watch out for really steep driveways and very tall curbs when backing) but they may not for you. We installed it in the driveway, no ramps or lift. Took 2 hours; we decided to pull both mufflers (4 bolts total) to simplify the installation of the hitch, heat shield, and re-installation of the mufflers on the hangers. I highly recommend that to simplify the installation.
Trailer hitch looks very good quality but was bent both connecting ends were bent in I had to put it in a press to straighten them they wouldn't even go past my spare tire bucket or whatever you want to call it. Added some time to the installation unfortunately they should pack them a little differently maybe put something across the two mounting frames to support them for shipping. I needed the hitch for this weekend otherwise I would have probably returned it. Luckily I was had access to hydraulic press was able to straighten them out.
Installed on a 2020 Subaru outback 4cyl turbo. Directions were clear. Watching the video helped. It took half the day to install.
Biggest problem was reattaching the rear most muffler mounts. The brackets on the mufflers are too close to the hitch! It needs another half-inch at least on each side just for the rubber mounts to fit. I wasn't able to bend the muffler mounts, but I did manage to wedge them one at a time with a block of wood to get the rubber mounts to line up and then a very large channel lock to push the rubber onto the mounting post. I hope this tension doesn't hurt the seals where the mufflers connect to the Y-pipe.
The Y-pipe was just replaced a year ago with an OEM replacement as it was rotten. No aftermarket part was available. When the mufflers need replacing it will probably need spacers on each side. There's less than 30000 miles on this car.
Both heat shields had 2 rotten holes. They just pulled off. Had to use Zep45 to get screws out without ripping off the U shaped supports. I just used some tin patches when reinstalling.
When feeding the guide wire through to fish the bolts, I used a pickup magnet to catch the spring side. Also, when pulling one of the front bolts through, the rectangular support got wedged sideways in the frame channel. I was able to jiggle it around to get it to sit correctly. I used a floor jack and block of wood to support the hitch when installing the nuts.
Hitch sits over 3.5 inches behind the bumper. Can’t install bike hitch. Now I just have a paperweight installed on my car. Box did come in good condition but the hitch had multiple paint chips all over.

Why can you not install your bike rack? Is the shank too short? Do you know the part number for the rack you have? A lot of hitches sit recessed like this and it is very normal. If it is too far for the shank on your bike rack, you could use an extension like the Trailer Hitch Extender for 2" Hitch Receivers - 8" Long # e88YR. Just keep in mind that these do cut your tongue weight capacity in half.
Pretty straight forward install. I was able to do it myself in a few hours, taking my time not to mess up. It works great and looks real nice on our 2025 Subaru Outback. Very solid construction.

I am glad the install went well for you! If you do it quick, but wrong then what was the point of rushing haha. It looks great on the vehicle, what do you have planned to use the hitch for?

The instructions say 40 minutes to install it...if you've done it before, know the tricks and have the right tools. It took me almost 2 hours. There were several areas on the plastic wrapped hitch that the paint came off. The corners should have been wrapped better with foam. I tried to paint it. I hope it doesn't rust too quickly. Other than that, I like it.

Painting it was a good thing to do - especially if it's rust resistant like Rust-Oleum paint. I'm glad the rest of the install went well!
Easy to install the hitch and wiring The quality was very good
Have a auto lift made the job much easier

Works very well it was a good fit and easy to install plus I didn’t have to remove the bumper

Solid product, easy install on my Outback. Box arrived taped and damaged, but all was well with the hitch

Well, Judith, I'd say you nailed it! :) Glad to hear the hitch was all there and that it went on easily. You look pretty comfortable in the photos - do you do a lot of this type of work?
Item arrived with forward attachment flanges torn through the cardboard(see attached photos taken immediately upon delivery). Seems this could be prevented by using extra reinforcement on the inside of the box. Fortunately the powder coat was not damaged. After unpacking the left and right mounting arms did not appear to be parallel, and upon measurement were found to be slightly spread apart. I had read other reviews that claimed this occurs during shipping, but I disagree. This is made of heavy metal that does not bend easily. If this had occurred during shipping my hitch would have been broken out of the box and heavily damaged. Anyway I managed to straighten the arms to an acceptable tolerance to me. The mounting holes are a bit oversized so there is some room for error. But this problem definitely occurred at the assembly jig when the hitch was welded up. After all that the installation went according to the instructions and the video. I had installed a similar hitch on my 2014 Outback, so the procedure was the same and I knew what to do. I did the installation in my garage with a couple of pieces of 2 by lumber under the rear tires for a little extra room underneath. Used a floor jack with some help from my wife to raise the hitch in position and bolt it up. The hitch fits well and looks good under the car.

Well Ronald, I am certainly glad you were able to get the job done despite the hitch being bent!
The good: It appears to be well made and installation was fairly simple. The box can be cut up and used to lay on the cold cement..
The not so good: The paint is very thin and chips easily, this was made worse by the shipping’s method used. The shipping box appeared to be exploding but couldn’t due to the amount of randomly applied boxing tape..
That said I’m happy with my purchase and the communication from etrailer customer service. Thank you
Great product, very solid. Hitch is flush with bumper. Install video is a must to watch! For the DIYer a second person is a must if you are crawling under car!

Fantastic

Took about an hour for me with no assistance. Directions are accurate- a little shaky on the references to rear/ forward but can be deciphered well enough. I do wish there was about 2 more inches of length on the snake wires. Grab a can of gloss black spray paint tho, this ships loose in box and there were a fair number of spots missing finish. Overall super happy about not having to remove bumper, and a standard hitch is a good length, flipped as a rise, my 5x8 trailer sits perfect.
We were in need of a trailer hitch for our 2023 Outback. David from etrailer pointed us in the right direction and we purchased the Drawtite class 3 hitch. All has splendidly worked out. Our installer completed the work easily.
Great Hitch Receiver for the Outback. Stick with the hauling limits of your vehicle, and this performs as advertised.
Install was fairly simple, holding up very well after a year of use.
This is a great aftermarket Trailer Hitch Receiver option as it fit perfectly on my 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness! I saved several hundreds of dollars rather than paying for the Subaru factory trailer hitch receiver and installation cost. The Draw-Tite was easy to install, even by myself as I first removed the mufflers, which on the Subaru Outback is not hard at all. With the mufflers out of the way made the installation a breeze and had it done in less than 2 hours. I can highly recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver for the 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness due to ease of installation, its robust construction, and it does not impact the ground clearance of the Wilderness edition.

Nothing beats savings like that, Dan! I'm glad that the install went so smoothly for you. What have you been using the hitch for?
Dealing with the dual exhaust and the fishing wire was the hard parts.

Thanks for including photos with your feedback Benjamin, this is valuable insight for future shoppers!
Pretty straight forward and accurate to the video with no surprises, excellent job! Very ingenious using the wire to thread onto the bolt allowing it to be pulled into place. After I torqued the 4 7/16 bolts to 50ft lbs I doubled it up with stainless steel nylock thread nuts for piece of mind (didn't torque those just good'n tight).
Also smart that you shrink wrapped the instructions and nuts/bolts bag to the hitch to prevent it from getting lost during delivery (it would have fallen out of the box due to the hitch punching a couple holes in the box).
Thank you for a well done job in providing great tutorials and a good hitch.
I've recommended you guys before and will continue to do so.
The hutch fits great and looks really good in the truck, BUT…. What sets etrailer.com apart is their service! The instructional videos are great and really make the install a breeze. I would buy from them even if I found it cheaper elsewhere.

Thanks for sharing that, Shaun! We like to do things different from the rest so I'm happy to know that we are doing things right!
The installation kit and instructions, along with the video, made the installation very easy. (Except for holding it up while getting the nuts started.) I really appreciate that the installation didn't require cutting any of the rear bumper moldings, and that it fits below but up close.
E-Trailer is excellent with the sales, service, installation and all the things that have kept me coming back. My one gripe is the poor packaging on the hitch. Every one I have purchased has broken through the cardboard and knocked off the paint (in multiple locations). Shipping could be better, but otherwise an excellent company.
Pros: the hitch seems well made. It also doesn't mount to the bumper area which seems to cause some issues in extreme cases with aftermarket hitches. It doesn't require cutting the plastic bumper, which is a relief. Finally, the pull wires seem like they will be fiddly, but work super well if you go slowly.
Cons: IMO, the instructions are geared towards having the car on a lift. They're not super helpful if you're doing this in your driveway, which I found to be super challenging initially. Unless the car is in the air, getting the hitch around the two mufflers is nearly impossible. My advice: for the sake of two 14mm bolts, remove the mufflers! You'll have perfect access. It's also much easier to refit the exhaust rubber once you have the hitch mounted with the mufflers unbolted. The OEM kit comes with new gaskets for the mufflers. I did this on a brand new car, so I wasn't particularly nervous about this. I'm sure the car would pick up on increased backflow with the mufflers off so definitely don't start it while you're working. You could also just drop the negative terminal off the battery. Also, take your own measurements for cutting the heat shield. Mic up the heatshield and make a small indent by pressing the very thin metal onto the hitch bolt and then use that as a guide to cut. This will come back much cleaner than using the wonky measurement you get in the instructions. Last thing is that the innermost exhaust rubber will sit right on the hitch once it's installed. I don't love this, but I'm not sure if it will cause any issues.
There is a lot of sharp edges in the area you'll be working it, so be careful not to cut your hands, especially when prying off the exhaust rubber!
The receiver arrived two days early and unscathed, despite the box being somewhat mangled.
The unit looks quite substantial and fit was absolutely perfect, considering it had to go around exhaust hangers, a heat shield, and muffler.
The installation instructions were accurate, complete, and easy to follow, with no issues experienced.

The hitch receiver is still well attached to the Outback. However, it is only used to mount a bicycle rack rated at 200 lbs max. How it would perform towing a 2K lb trailer is unknown, but due to it’s robust construction, I imagine there would be no issues.
The hitch fit perfectly. The instructions and installation videos were very helpful and made the installation steps very smooth and flawless. HIGHLY RECOMMEND watching the video before installation. The hitch is heavy and awkward so you will need to support it on a jack on rollers and/or have a second person available to help. The hitch is robust and works perfectly. Great affordable alternative to OEM and Service Center installation at a fraction of the cost. It tucks out of the way and is barely visable. Highly Recommend
Works great on my 2024 Subaru Outback. I installed it myself with 3 ratchet strap, a pair of plastic wheel ramps, and a hole saw. I mainly use it to carry a hitch mount bike rack, haven't tried anything heavier yet. I'm definitely glad I chose this over the more expensive OEM hitches.
So far so good. It is much tighter on the receiver than my last hitch, making for less bounce with the hitch and with our bike carrier. Install was good. The bolt wires could have been just a little longer. I did it on the floor of my shop with my wife helping to lift it. Perfect fit for my Subaru. The install videos are very helpful.

Its a GREAT receiver, but I wouldnt recommend it on a Legacy. Id put it on an Outback, but its just too close to the ground on my Legacy.
