Question:

Hello, I have a 2026 Subaru Crosstrek WILDERNESS and Im struggling to figure out which type of hitch would work for my car. Some hitches mention that it doesnt fit the Wilderness model and others dont mention it at all. Is it possibly that someone could send me a few good options to choose from that would fit this specific model? I just hate to buy the wrong one and then have to send it back, ya know? Thanks!

Hey Jerit, congrats on the new car. We've got a couple of hitches that fit the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness.

The etrailer Trailer Hitch item # e98912 is going to be the most affordable option. This custom fit class III hitch has a 2" receiver with a 3,500 lbs towing capacity and a maximum tongue weight of 525 lbs. The main drawback of this hitch is that you see most of the crosstube when it's installed on the Wilderness models.

The EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch item # EH57CR has also been confirmed to fit the Wilderness model of the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek. This hitch also has the same towing and tongue weight capacities. The big advantage here is that the 2" receiver is completely removable and the crosstube is concealed behind the rear bumper trim.

I recently bought the ECO Hitch Stealth for my 24 Crosstrek Wilderness. It fit perfectly and the instructions on etrailers site were clear and accurate. The hitch fits perfectly and and works well. I love that it fits underneath the car and the receiver is detachable. When detached the hitch is not visible. Get the wiring harness while your at it. It is an easy installation.

I installed the Eco Hitch for my 2025 Crosstrek premium and LOVE it. I had mine installed by a recommended dealer through etrailer.com and was very pleased I ordered the harness and the hitch. It’s nice to be able to remove the receiver and put it back in during the summer when I’m hauling my kayak trailer. I’d highly recommend it and would buy it again in a heartbeat.
