  • Includes brass lock with rubber dust cover to block out debris

Reduced rattle and swinging of the motorcycle carrier, have similar concept on my Thule bicycle carrier but this one is so much cheaper and does the same job but seems more solid actually

by:

Arrived quickly. Easy to install with the excellent video and instructions. I installed on my 2012 Forester with the Curt hitch I had previously purchased from etrailer. The locking hitch pin completely stopped my hitch rattle.

by:

Its awesome, works great and no more noise in camper receiver.

Still love it

What I like: Depending on the hitch and receiver you use, the hitch pin may do an excellent job in controlling sway : vertical and horizontal. What I am not entirely happy about: Depending on the hitch and receiver you use, the hitch pin may do an excellent job in controlling sway on the horizontal but not as much on the vertical. Also be careful about over tightening the bold to the anti-rattle assembly. It can twist the rubber stabilizing assembly a little bit. I think that may be the reason for the lack of vertical control. The problem is, my specific pin holes are a bit deep so I can't grab the assembly to line it up correctly. Also the lock sleeve maybe a little big for the pin hole so don't completely tighten the pin so you have a little wiggle room. However it is much better improvement over the standard pin with clip.

by:

This hitch pin is easy to use, although you need a wrench, and provides a much quieter towing experience than the typical hitch pin which is held in place with a cotter pin. My only criticism is the lock appears to be low quality with a very simple key and provides minimal security. I bought it to minimize the rattling of typical hitches and am very happy with it.

by:

Exactly what I needed. Even though my receiver cargo carrier fits pretty well, there is an slight unavoidable wobble. This pin provides great security and the ability to tighten the tongue to the receiver hitch eliminating ANY wobble. Great device!

by:

I wanted to wait to review this until I actually installed it in my bike hitch. I tried it on my 2013 Ford Truck and our 2013 Lexis. I was concerned in that the lock actually fit into the hitch hole and wanted to make sure that it did-- and yes, it did on both. Perhaps it is not important but I recommend that you install the lock before you tighten the bolt all the way. The lock has little tolerance for movement so if the bolt is a little off to one side, you might not be able to get the lock on. It’s all good however; you will only make this mistake once. It would be nice if the nut was more secure but I experienced no problem with it which most likely is why they did not do more to secure it. I had an idea that I would just weld a nut to the inside or the hitch and not have to deal with the black plastic holder until it occurred to me that the black device allows this to be self centering. A very good idea. My wife is the one who wanted the bike rack so I let her install it without any advice. She did various things wrong but figured it out. She did not push on the bolt hard enough to get it into the centering of the nut (another good design item) and she tightened the bolt before putting the lock on and it was off center just enough so the lock would not push into the hole. Once she loosened it a bit, it went right in and she retightened just fine. It secures the bike mount to the hitch very well. I would, and most likely will, buy it again. Good value I rate my wife a 5. Nothing else The video is priceless. Play it

Al, one smart fella there! And good marks for etrailer too.

by:

Great product, fit and finish. There is a trick to getting this little guy installed. Get the bolt near tight, where you still have play in the hitch. You need the play to get the silver shield on the top of the lock to enter the receiver so the lock can lock onto the pin. Once its locked onto the pin, tighten up the bolt and you are done. No wobble, nice and secure.

by:

Just bought a new Tacoma ... wanted one of these for when I have to hitch up a trailer ... haven't towed anything yet, but sure does keep my hitch cover tight! Was very easy to install ...

by:

Excellent product. And as always great customer service. I had to customize mine a little bit because of my specific application using an adapter to use 1in 1/4 accessory on a 2-inch hitch. I just had to shave a little plastic off of the nut holder.

by:

This lock is a real quality item. I am looking forward to using it to secure my new bike hitch rack! My only complaint is with the shipping company who took my part all over the country before delivering it ten days later. I'm used to much faster service.

Comments
It has been great! I have had no problems with it not opening easily or becoming hard to lock. I would buy it again!

by:

Well-made and works great.

by:

I've had this hitch lock for a year now and it works perfectly. Stops trailer rattling in the receiver completely. Some reviewers stated that the lock didn't engage for them and came off. They are doing it wrong! The lock has a pin sleeve that needs to go through the receiver hole to snap into place and engage the lock. If the bolt pin is fully tightened before locking, a misalignment in the receiver hole can make things more difficult to go through the receiver hole and fully snap on to the pin. Thread the pin but don't tighten down, engage the lock over the pin and then fully tighten the threaded portion of the pin. Works just right and always secure.

by:

The lock is a great fit for my rack and feels good quality. It was easy to install as well and anti-rattle bolt works great!

by:

It fits as advertised, no more rattle when I pull my 22' boat.

Comments
It works so good I even forgot about it. No rattling, no noise, no movement. I love it.

by:

Perfect for 1/2 tons! 10k rated with security. It made towing my single axle 6x12 with a 4wheeler feel 100x better than without the anti rattle feature. Fit my 2012 Toyota Tundra like a charm..

I do recommend following the instructions and other's recommendations to add the lock before you tighten the bolt.

by:

Hitch lock works perfectly for our bike rack.

by:

Great product, no rattle. etrailer shipped on time, great company to deal with.

by:

Good solution to the security problems found in other hitch locks. The anti-rattle feature works extremely well.

by:

This hitch lock was easy to install and works as advertised. No more rattle. It makes it slightly more difficult to connect the trailer chain hook but it's not a problem.

Comments
After a year this hitch lock has worked flawlessly. I have not even needed to tighten it up.

by:

Excellent my trailer is quiet now!!

by:

Very easy to use.

by:

I'm just repeating myself ;)

by:

Works fine.

by:

This fit my Alpha Tow bar and it tighten up very well. The lock and bolt are well made and the bolt had a lock washer for the bolt end. You could access the lock easily and I found that the lock should be added before doing the final tightening for the bolt.

Comments
Still working fine, I did have to retighten once, but that is all. I will check on occasion to make sure it does not work loose. There is no slack or rattle when tight.

  • Too Much Sway while Towing a Bike Rack and Using a Hitch Adapter
I am glad to hear the hitch installation went smoothly, but sorry to hear you are unhappy with the adapter. When using adapters, the play you are experiencing is a common problem. When using accessories in a trailer hitch, sometimes they are a perfect fit, sometimes they are a little loose and other times they are so tight that you must file the accessory down a bit. Because, there is not always a perfect fit, there are anti-rattle devices made. You may have noticed that your Yakima bike...

  • Softride Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock Should Work on Any Hitch
The Softride anti-rattle hitch lock, part # SR25219, is threaded to match the padlock portion of the lock. A nut placed inside the receiver opening aids in clamping whatever hollow accessory you are using to the side of the receiver opening. It should work on any hitch, including your factory installed Jeep hitch.

Drilling a hole in your hitch will void the manufacturers warranty. That being said you can purchase other styles of anti-rattle devices that will work very well and you will not have to modify the hitch to install them. I would recommend the SoftRide anti-rattle hitch lock, part # SR25219, this lock has a nut that installs inside the hollow draw bar or shank of the hitch accessory and then, when the hitch pin lock is threaded into the hitch, the ball mount or shank is wedged to the side...

  • Solution for Installing SoftRide Hitch Lock in Multiple Hitch Accessories
Since additional nuts and retainers are not available as separate items the best option you'd have would be to buy multiple sets of the # SR2519 which you could use entirely for each hitch accessory you have or you could use just the nut and retainer and use the one lock and bolt. I checked our other similar hitch locks and none of just the portion of the lock that fits into the shank of the hitch accessory.

  • Installing Softride SR25219 Anti Rattle Threaded Hitch Pin and Lock
To install the Softride # SR25219 anti-rattle hitch lock, you'd run the bolt down all the way. This pulls the shank of the bike rack tightly up against the inside of the receiver tube, preventing the bike rack from moving around in the receiver tube. When the bolt is tightened, you can then install the lock. If you click the provided link, you can see a product demonstration video showing how the lock works.
