This hitch pin's unique design improves the towing experience by protecting the vehicle's powertrain and safely minimizing that annoying "clanking" sound. Engineered to fit 2" ball mounts, it features an anti-rattle nut enclosure that slides inside the ball mount. A 5/8" stainless steel threaded pin clinches the nut securely to the side of the receiver tube, reducing "wiggle room" between the tube and the ball mount. This is my second purchase of this well-designed anti rattle hitch pin. I needed to buy a new one because the lock went missing while on a trip. Not sure if someone else had a key (and tried to take the hitch while parked at a bike park), or I failed to ensure the lock was completely engaged. In any case, this works very well. Just make sure the lock is completely engaged, or it may fall off.

I use this lock on the my Brophy 7 inch hitch adapter that is on my bike rack. Works! Easy on and off. No rattles or play after a year of use in rain, snow and sunshine cause it is so rugged. And I don't see how you could cut it off. You would need a torch. So it gives me security peace of mind on the road and overnight in hotel parking lots.

receiver you use, the hitch pin may do an excellent job in controlling sway : vertical and horizontal. What I am not entirely happy about: Depending on the hitch and receiver you use, the hitch pin may do an excellent job in controlling sway on the horizontal but not as much on the vertical. Also be careful about over tightening the bold to the anti-rattle assembly. It can twist the rubber stabilizing assembly a little bit. I think that may be the reason for the lack of vertical control. The problem is, my specific pin holes are a bit deep so I can't grab the assembly to line it up correctly. Also the lock sleeve maybe a little big for the pin hole so don't completely tighten the pin so you have a little wiggle room. However it is much better improvement over the standard pin with clip.

Im still using this anti-rattle locking hitch pin with my 2 inch hitch pulling a 14 foot aluminum trailer. The lock and pin looks and functions as new after a year of use. It is still the best anti-rattle locking device by far.

Excellent product. And as always great customer service. I had to customize mine a little bit because of my specific application using an adapter to use 1in 1/4 accessory on a 2-inch hitch. I just had to shave a little plastic off of the nut holder.

a trick to getting this little guy installed. Get the bolt near tight, where you still have play in the hitch. You need the play to get the silver shield on the top of the lock to enter the receiver so the lock can lock onto the pin. Once its locked onto the pin, tighten up the bolt and you are done. No wobble, nice and secure.

I haven't been able to use this yet since it wouldn't work with the hitch extender that I purchased. Make sure your hitch extender has a hollow shank if you plan on using a locking, anti-rattle hitch pin. I will be purchasing a hollow-shank hitch extender that this locking anti-rattle pin should be good for. The lock seems very substantial.

Quality construction. The bolt is stainless and much thicker than other entitle pins of this design. The holder for the nut was a little large for my accessory but it’s plastic so it was easy enough to trim with tin snips and a sanding block. Does an excellent job of stopping any rattle or movement of the hitch accessory.

Item arrived before arrival date. Part was very easy to install and worked better than expected. Took all the rattle away. Still need to test it with a loaded trailer to confirm the bolt doesn’t loosen up.

I wanted to wait to review this until I actually installed it in my bike hitch. I tried it on my 2013 Ford Truck and our 2013 Lexis. I was concerned in that the lock actually fit into the hitch hole and wanted to make sure that it did-- and yes, it did on both. Perhaps it is not important but I recommend that you install the lock before you tighten the bolt all the way. The lock has little tolerance for movement so if the bolt is a little off to one side, you might not be able to get the lock on. It’s all good however; you will only make this mistake once. It would be nice if the nut was more secure but I experienced no problem with it which most likely is why they did not do more to secure it. I had an idea that I would just weld a nut to the inside or the hitch and not have to deal with the black plastic holder until it occurred to me that the black device allows this to be self centering. A very good idea. My wife is the one who wanted the bike rack so I let her install it without any advice. She did various things wrong but figured it out. She did not push on the bolt hard enough to get it into the centering of the nut (another good design item) and she tightened the bolt before putting the lock on and it was off center just enough so the lock would not push into the hole. Once she loosened it a bit, it went right in and she retightened just fine. It secures the bike mount to the hitch very well. I would, and most likely will, buy it again. Good value I rate my wife a 5. Nothing else The video is priceless. Play it

Exactly what I needed. Even though my receiver cargo carrier fits pretty well, there is an slight unavoidable wobble. This pin provides great security and the ability to tighten the tongue to the receiver hitch eliminating ANY wobble. Great device!

Works exactly as described. Secures my Go Rhino bumper step, and keeps it from rattling. Only problem is I wish the bolt head was 3/4". Most socket sets don't go beyond 3/4", so you'll need a 7/8" box wrench or Cresent wrench to install/remove it.

Hi Tom! The Softride Stainless Steel Locking, Anti-Rattle Threaded Hitch Pin for 2" Trailer Hitches # SR25219 uses a 5/8 “ pin with 11 threads per inch, so it is 5/8-11 UNC. The diameter of the threads is 15.7 mm (or .62”). The 5/8" pin is standard for the pin size, but the threaded part will change depending on the manufacturer. I'm not sure what Capstone uses, but you could take the pin to a local hardware store and they should be able to measure the threaded portion for you. If you...

Hello again, Rob. I have heard of certain hitches having limited clearance which can be a problem for certain hitch locks. I do not have any drawings of the OEM Subaru hitch to reference, so you will just want to make sure there is space on the driver side of the hitch receiver for the lock core and the key. Hey Charles, it sounds like you are wanting to use the hitch lock part # SR25219 as just a hitch lock and not use the anti-rattle portion at all. This is doable and would work fine but over time you might damage the threads and it wouldn't be able to be used as an anti-rattle device going forward.

The Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device, # THSTL2, is the only hitch pin lock that can be used with Thule bike racks. We do not carry the Xport brand here at etrailer but I did speak to my contact at Hollywood Racks who is familiar with the low-cost Xport racks and he advised that there is a Hollywood Racks replacement part that should work for your platform carrier. Drilling a hole in your hitch will void the manufacturers warranty. That being said you can purchase other styles of anti-rattle devices that will work very well and you will not have to modify the hitch to install them. To install the Softride # SR25219 anti-rattle hitch lock, you'd run the bolt down all the way. This pulls the shank of the bike rack tightly up against the inside of the receiver tube, preventing the bike rack from moving around in the receiver tube. Fulton does not carry a repair kit for your 2" ball coupler. I recommend replacing your coupler with one easier to use like the Demco A-Frame Trailer Coupler # DM14793-81.
