Specs:
Gain is the maximum amount of power that will be applied to your trailer's brakes. How much braking output you need is determined by the weight of your trailer; a heavier trailer will need more power to bring it to a stop. You want to go as high as you can without the trailer brakes locking up. Use the gray rocker switch to adjust the gain on a scale of 0.5 to 9.9 in increments of 0.5.
Once you have the gain set, you can fine-tune your braking by adjusting the load control on a scale of 1 to 9 using the black rocker switch. This controls the aggressiveness of your trailer's braking, meaning how quickly the brakes reach the maximum braking level. If your vehicle takes too long to come to a stop, increase the setting. If it stops too abruptly, decrease the setting.
The LED display on the TriFlex is large and easy to read at a glance. You can adjust the brightness or trigger night mode so it won't glare obnoxiously on your dash. It also will give you error messages you can use to troubleshoot.
The TriFlex offers key safety features to prevent damage to various components of your towing setup. This starts with built-in protection against shorts and positive and negative power reversal, as well as continous diagnostic checks to alert you to any potential problems as they come up. To minimize the drain on your vehicle's battery, the TriFlex will automatically go into sleep mode after 5 minutes of inactivity. Sleep mode will turn off again the moment you press the brake pedal.
Automatic leveling means your mounting options are limitless, so long as you can still easily access the controller and the manual override. The included bracket is designed to mount the brake controller flush to the dash so it takes up almost no space at all.
The included custom-fit adapter plugs into the port on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness, which you'll typically find behind your dashboard. Once you're plugged into the factory port, just plug the other end of the adapter into the TriFlex. No hardwiring needed!
Note: If you don't already have a 7-way plug at the back of your vehicle, take a look at our exclusive 7- and 4-way brake control installation kit (ETBC7 - sold separately).
Proportional braking means that your trailer brakes mimic your tow vehicle's brakes. If you slam on the brakes in your vehicle, your trailer brakes will activate with the same intensity; if you brake lightly, your trailer brakes lightly too. The trailer's braking is in proportion to your vehicle's braking. This saves wear and tear on the tires and the brakes on both your vehicle and trailer.
The TriFlex uses an internal 3-axis accelerometer to sense how your vehicle is braking so it can send the right amount of braking power to your trailer. It measures the inertia of your tow vehicle and activates the trailer's brakes to slow at the same rate. The result is uniform braking across your towing setup. No push-pull action - just smooth, proportional braking every time.

Hi, I'm Daniel with etrailer and today we're gonna be taking a look at our Curt TriFlex NEXT brake controller on our 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor. If you're somebody who's gonna be using your Bronco to tow, maybe a boat down to the lake or even a camper to the campsite, then you're gonna want a brake controller to make everything safe while you're traveling down the road. As you can see, this brake controller is pretty flush to the vehicle. A lot of people say that they may knock it with their knees and they're getting in and out of their vehicle, but this one you don't really have to worry about 'cause it's so flush, very low profile. Now this brake controller has proportional braking, meaning that it will have real time braking for when you hit the pedal, it will brake the same time on your trailer. So now let's get into some of the settings on this.
As you can see, we got this gain function here. So you can set that for the emergency button. You can set that for all the way up, to 9.9 is the highest. So that means if you're, you know, on the highway you're needing to brake fast, you can push this button slowly and fully depressed, it'll be that 9.9 value there, braking the most. So our next function is our load so that you can set for when you just are pressing the brake.
You can set that higher or lower, (display clicking ) as you can see. And our next function is just brightness. You can change the brightness of the screen, you can change it to day mode or night mode. And that's just about it. Now, something to keep in mind is this is an inertia-based device, so you are gonna wanna mount it.
That's why it comes with the mounting bracket. You just wanna make sure it doesn't, it's not sliding around 'cause it won't be functioning properly. So first off, you're gonna wanna determine if your vehicle has a seven-way plug to tie in your trailer lights. We do have one on our Raptor here, but if you don't have one, feel free to check out our dealer locator and we can get a professional to install it for you or check out a video and do it yourself. You're gonna wanna find the plug for your adapter here, it should be right up under your dash.
So ours on this one is just stuck into the frame here with a fastener and you can pull that right out like that and it will have a dummy plug on it, just to protect the the plug. So you just take that off. And with that off, you can plug this right in there. Now you go and plug the other end into your brake controller like that. And now we can go ahead and mount it. So this is just for demonstration purposes, so we are just going to tape it to our neighbor's vehicle today. But as you can see here, you've got these two holes where you will be screwing into the dash to get this mounted. But once you have that mounted with the two screws, you can just go ahead and slide this right into place and then get your wires all tied up and you're good to go. So now the only way to really test this out is to get your vehicle moving 'cause it's inertia based. So you will have to be moving for it to activate. We do have a tester box here and I'm just gonna press this button. And as you can see, this is attached to the seven pole connector and it is functioning. If you decide to get a Curt brake controller for your Bronco, please let us know what you're using it for. I'm Daniel with etrailer. Thanks for watching.
