Question:
Does Computer Need To Be Flashed When Installing Brake Controller On 2021 F150?
asked by: Gary H
Expert Reply:
The OEM brake controller requires your 2021 Ford F-150 to be flashed by the dealer. However, an aftermarket brake controller like the Curt TriFlex NEXT # C24VV does not require the dealer to flash your truck's computer. You will need Plug-In Wiring Adapter # C51436 to connect the brake controller to the factory plug-in on your truck.
Keep in mind, not all 2021 models have the necessary 12V going to the plug-in, so you may end up needing to install Power Wire Kit for Electric Trailer Brake Controllers - 12 Gauge # BRK-ELECKIT to get the necessary power.
