A very good product

by:

Five stars given based on the lightning fast shipping process, as I have not yet used the items ordered. If possible I’ll follow up with my opinion of the ez lube grease gun and grease I purchased for my Holmes single axle trailer.

by:

The highly recommened " red" bearing grease! Perfect for
boat trailers that are put into water from timevto time

by:

Good stuff

by:

Just repacked bearings with new seals on my 4' x 8' folding utility trailer. Customer service was great in helping me with selecting the right parts including cotter pins. All is good now. I have been ordering from etrailer for 10 + years. Great place with great people!

All is great with red grease and bearing buddies

by:

Keeps everything that needs lubricant on our 40ft gooseneck operating smoothly.

by:

I have put over 4,000 miles on my 7,000 lb travel trailer since I replaced the bearings and lubricated them with Lubrimatic LMX grease purchased from etrailer.com.

The bearings have performed without any issues. I have since done a minor re-tightening of the bearing castle nuts. Of the 4 wheels, only one needed re-tightening.

I recommend this product without hesitation!

by:

just received and have not used it yet. I will use on all my equipment as I get ready for spring work.

by:

Worked very well. On a difficulty scale of 1-10, with 10 being the hardest, this was a 3.

by:

I just received and used the Lubrimatic LMX grease, so I can only comment that it looks like a high quality product. I did want to comment that I was using it to pack 4 Dexter 3500lbs EZ-lube spindles/bearings, and 14oz was barely adequate. I was short a couple pumps of the grease gun. So my advice is to figure on 3 spindles per tube, or maybe to be more precise: number of spindles you can do = 4 x #LMXtubes - 1. You may need some extra for maintenance in any case.

by:

The connection (wire to taillight) for this trailer light kit is extremely flimsy and clearly not intended for external mounting. I ended up reordering submersible tail lights to get a more rugged connection. The wiring harness is fine and the tail lights work but the connection is flimsy.

It's very inexpensive but a few dollars more for a more rugged set of lights is probably a better buy.

by:

All parts arrived quickly and fit perfect! I bought a used car trailer few months ago and brakes quit working. Pulled drums and needed new magnets, it was missing spring on one side, prior owner must have got some bad service. E-Trialer hooked me up with all the parts, also ordered hub seals and grease and repacked bearings. Thank you !!!

by:

As always fast in great condition an it works!

by:

Perfect replacement for my trailer. etrailer is only place I buy trailer related parts from. Always excellent service. Fastest shipping in the industry.

by:

Haven’t had a chance to use the grease but it was recommended by a Rv mobile tech I know. The 5 star review is for eTrailer’s customer support. I ordered two tubes and one of them arrived with the top crushed. They sent a follow up email the day after it arrived wanting to know if I received the package and was pleased. In my reply I explained what happened and sent a pic asking if they could help. Within a week I had a new tube of grease at no cost to me! Sure don’t find customer service like that too often these days. Thanks eTrailer….you guys rock!

by:

Its grease that works well. Notes from etrailer indicate you need one of these per wheel for filling fresh from the factory. I only needed one per axle (½ per wheel) . Looks like I have a lifetime supply of wheel grease :)

by:

Will was super helpful in tracking down the correct grease seals for my old Coleman camper. It was great to be able to talk to a live body and get real time advice. Products arrived promptly. Score another win for eTrailer.

by:

Grease came quickly and in time for a bearing job swap. The tube I ordered had a small ding which didn't allow me to use my grease gun but Carol and the team at eTrailer took care of me and sent out a different tube quick. Crisis adverted. Thank you much! The grease itself is of high quality and I wouldn't use anything different.

by:

Picked up a few tubes of Red LMX grease for my EZ Lube hubs on my camper. They were recommended by etrailer as a good grease for wheel bearings. I have used Lubrimatic grease over the years and had good luck with it. The red color will make it easy to see when the old grease is flushed out.

  • Can Nylon Bushings Be Replaced With Bronze Bushings And Wet Bolts
Hey Charles, Yes, you can replace nylon bushing with bronze bushings/wets bolts, you'll just want to make sure the useable length matches for both the bolt and bushing. The Step Wet Bolt for 1-3/4" Double Eye Springs # 34007-187-00 you were looking at has a 2-1/4" useable length so it would work with up to 1/4" thick shackle straps. For the bushings you can go with part # K71-291-00. You'll also want to make sure that you're keeping up with routine maintenance so that the bushings don't...

  • Bear Aluminum Boat Trailer Replacement Axle and Suspension Parts For 3,500LB Tandem Axle Trailer
I reached out to Bear and they were able to confirm that your 3,500lb axles use a #84 spindle. This will allow you to use the Hub Bearing Kit # BK2-100 on each of your axle hubs. The kit includes new inner and outer bearings and races, a grease seal, cotter pin, and tang washer for one hub. The Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors # BB1980A-SS can be used if your axles do not already have the EZ Lube spindle. They were also able to tell me they use a 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e54SR. I reached out to my contact at Dexter and was able to get the wheel bearing numbers you need for your 1999 Jayco Pop-Up Camper. The inner bearing is # L68149 and the outer bearing is # L44649. I recommend getting the complete kit which is Bearing Kit for #84 Spindle, L44649/L68149 Bearings, 10-19 Double Lip Seal # BK2-100. This kit will include the inner bearing and race, the outer bearing and race, the grease seal, the cotter pin, and tang washer for EZ-Lube applications. I've attached...

  • What is Normal Temperature Rating for Trailer Hubs
Yes, the temperatures you mentioned are normal. If you were getting over 200 degrees that would be a bad sign. But typically if all of the hubs are the same temperature you're good and it's only really an issue if one of the hubs is hotter than others and that axle isn't the sole brake axle. If you have a tandem axle setup and only one has brakes the one with brakes will get a lot hotter.

  • How to Grease a Dexter EZ Lube Axle
EZ Lube axles like the item # T3584F-EZ-8974 come from the factory with just a little bit of grease in the bearings. The first time you use the EZ Lube feature to fill the axle, it will take a lot of grease. You will probably use 3/4 to a full tube for each wheel. You will need the Performance Tools Heavy Duty Grease Gun - Lever Action - Aluminum item # PTW54290 to pump the grease into your axle. I have personally owned this grease gun for years and I have never had any issues or blow outs...

The Lippert 5,200lb axle under your 2015 Open Range Light 311FLR 5TH Wheel is going to need 2 Seals # GS-2250DL per axle. We do have the Bearing Kit # BK3-300 which will contain the races, bearings, a seal and cotter pin for one hub. This would be good to keep on hand incase you find out any of the bearings and races are worn/damaged when you go to replace the seals. Oil bath seals and dust covers on the hub are perfectly fine to use with a grease setup Don. All you really have to do is remove all of the oil and then pack the hubs with grease instead. I recommend using grease # L11390 and cap # F001520 instead of doing the oil bath simply because if a seal fails you can melt your bearings and cause more issues than what grease would allow. Then for the electrical aspects, I recommend the HydraStar Electric-Hydraulic...

The # L11390 LMX Red grease is exactly what I'd recommend. It's what our installation crews typically use here at etrailer.com HQ. I contacted Jayco regarding replacement grease seals. They were able to tell me that their part number for replacement seals is 0713491, but they couldn't provide the inner or outer diameter. If you look at the outermost part of the spindle on your axle there will be what is called a grease zerk or grease gun fitting. It will look like a tiny round ball which is where you can attach a grease gun to grease your spindle. If your spindle has a zerk on it then you have an E-Z lube spindle and you will want to use either the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K if you have drum brakes or the part # AKIHUB-545-35-EZ-K if you don't have brakes. • How to Convert Oil Bath Trailer Hubs to Grease Hubs
Actually all you really have to do is remove the oil from the hub and then pack the hubs with grease and then get the correct bearing buddy to match the threaded hub bore. You will need to measure the inner diameter of where the old grease cap installed on your hub to pick out the correct bearing buddy. If that measurement is 1.98 then you would wan the # BB1980T-SS, if it's 2.080 inches and has 12 threads per inch then you'd need part # BB2080T-SS, if it's 2.44 inches you'd want the part...

  • Replacement Hub for Tracker TrailStar Boat Trailer
Overpacking the trailer hub with grease is the number one reason for grease seal failure. For a boat trailer I would recommend re-packing the hubs by hand with grease once per season and you'd be fine. I don't like recommending people use Bearing Buddies or EZ lube spindles as this commonly causes over-packing. Based on everything you mentioned the hub you'd need as a replacement is the Dexter part # 8-258-50UC1-EZ which matches the bolt pattern, the bearing you mentioned, and the capacity...

  • What is the Best Grease for Trailer Bearings
Even though I cannot comment specifically on the grease you used because I am not familiar with it, I can tell you the best grease for trailer bearings is a a grease with a rating of GC-LB, which just means it is made to withstand very high temperatures (like what occur on a trailer hub that has massive RPMs when travelling, even at slower speeds) so it will continue to lubricate instead of quickly dissipating like you see with lower rated greases. The best grease for trailer bearings...

These will only require you to adjust the brakes to ensure they are set correctly when you install them. After that they will self adjust themselves as the brake material wears away. Red bearing grease is a very common grease used in trailer hubs which for that we have the Lubrimatic LMX Red part # L11390 which is Lithium based. This is the same as what you have now and since it's considered to be the best grease for trailer hub applications it's your best choice.

  • Do Trailer Bearings Need to be Cleaned When Re-packing
I would remove the hubs and clean the bearings and the inside of the hubs. Just adding grease will allow any impurities that have entered the hub to remain in there with your bearings. Water, sand, salt and other road grime inevitably work their way into the bearings and will eventually cause damage if the bearings are not cleaned. You also get the added benefit of being able to inspect the bearings, races, hubs and brakes for wear or damage. Knowing that your trailer is in good shape...

I reached out to my contact at Dexter regarding the numbers you gave. They couldn't match anything and suggested that you most likely have a 8-91A, which is a 4 on 4 bolt pattern. That is a very basic trailer hub assembly and the replacement part is # 8-91-05UC1. This assembly comes with the L44643 bearings, the grease seal, the lugs and the grease cap. I'd suggest a bearing packer like # PTW1218 and the Industrial Strength Grease # L11390.

  • Recommended Grease Conversion for Dexter 12k Oil Bath Axles
The Dexter 12K oil bath axles can be changed over to grease without any issues. The oil does keep the bearings lubricated well, but there is a much higher risk of leaking which leads to a much higher risk of failure. I'd personally move to grease # L11390 and make sure it is packed well into the bearings using # PTW1218. This will allow you to use your same bearings and oil cap, but you will need to replace the seal once removed to pack the inner bearing. For that you can use # 10-56.
