What are the Trailer Suspension Parts to Upgrade the Suspension on a 2021 GD Imagine 2600 RB?

Updated 11/19/2025 | Published 12/29/2024

Question:

I have 2021 GD Imagine 2600 RB. I am currently waiting for Lippert tech to replace the a frame, it is bending. With the frame/suspension issues they are having, do you think I should upgrade my shackle bolts to a wet bolt system? Also, anything else to replace to avoid problems in the future?

Hello Ron,

I am very sorry to hear that your frame is bending, but I am happy to hear that the people at Lippert are getting you taken care of!

Upgrading the suspension is always a great idea! In my search I see that the 2021 GD Imagine 2600 RB is equipped with 2.25" shackles. Looks like you already found the right shackle kit # MR46ZR. This kit is great, it will come with new shackles, wet bolts with the zerk fittings making them easy to lube, lock nuts, and even the bronze bushings. For keeping everything greased up you might want to grab a LubriMatic Professional Pistol Grease Gun # L30416 if you don't have one already, and some LubriMatic LMX Industrial Strength Grease - 14 oz. Cartridge # L11390.

If you are going to upgrade to wet bolts, you might as well change out the equalizers too. By having upgraded equalizers it will give you a better ride quality, which will help prolong the life of the trailer as well. In my search I see that the 2021 GD Imagine 2600 RB has a standard equalizer that is 5.75" from hole to hole. The Road Armor Shock Absorbing Equalizer Kit # LC696740 would be a great fit. They are 6" from hole to hole, the 1/4" will not make a difference in your suspension.

I would inspect your leaf springs to make sure they are in good shape. Because of the bending in your frame, it could have caused quicker wear. Having an uneven load on the suspension can cause serious problems to one side. If you do see some issues, please send me the measurement as unloaded as possible (you might need to jack up one side to get the weight off) from center eye to center eye.

Another thing to consider adding to your suspension is the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers for Tandem Axle Trailers - 3,500-lb Axle # RM-2450. I attached a great installation video that Dave did, he does an awesome job explaining what they do and how they will help before he jumps into the install.

Please make sure that you keep your brakes and hubs in good working order, make brake adjustments if needed, make sure bearings are lubed up in your hubs. When inspecting your hubs, I find it important to keep some grease seals on hand as they are notorious for breaking when you remove them, for a 3,500 axle you will want # RG06-050.

Lastly, tires. Make sure you are keeping your tires at the max psi listed on the tire, you are using the correct load range, and you do not let the tires get too worn before changing them out. You can't walk correctly with the wrong size shoes on your feet, same way with tires and trailers.

I have attached some videos for you to check out. We take a lot of pride in our content here. I feel like by watching videos it helps you get a good feel for the products before purchasing. If you see that you need new leaf springs make sure you comment the measurement, so I can get you the correct part number and a u-bolt kit too. If you have any questions about any of the parts that I have suggested please let me know. When you get the new set up on there, please tell us what you think as we love getting out customers feedback.

Happy New Year to you and your family! May 2025 be your best year yet! From, your friends here at etrailer!

Hey Ron, how did things turn out after upgrading your suspension on the Imagine 2600 RB? Did the wet bolt kit and new equalizers give you a smoother ride? Your update could make it easier for others dealing with similar frame or suspension issues.

@KateF So glad I installed the new wet bolts and shackles. It’s a big job by yourself, but trailer feels like it rides lots smoother. I would recommend doing this.

@RonR 100% Ron! Definitely worth the time to install, and you save a pretty penny doing it yourself as well. Glad things are riding more smoothly for you. Thanks for the reply!
