Today we will be showing you the performance tool bearing packer Part Number PTW1218. This is what it looks like after we force grease into our bearing. It's a good idea to re-grease your trailer bearings every few years. It extends your life of your bearing and keeps your wheels protected. Reduces friction, keeps the water out preventing corrosion and rust. Now I'll show you how it's done. To assemble your packer you find the plastic cap with the solid end on it and you thread your rod in.
Making sure that the hole stays above the cap of your plastic. Then you take your bearing that you're going to grease, set it on top. Then you take your cap and thread it on. You want to make sure this is nice and snug on top. Now that I've got that set up I take my grease gun put in the zerk fitting on top and force or grease through.
This not only puts new grease in, it forces the old grease out. It accommodates roller bearings like the type I have in there now or ball bearings depending on what style you need. You can see it's coming out the bottom right here and it should be squeezing out between our roller bearings. When you're done putting your grease through you pop your grease gun off. Have your paper towels handy.
Un-thread your top piece and you can remove your newly packed bearing. As you can see there's grease in between our inner shield and our outer shield. It's been forced in by our gun. That's it for a look at the performance tool bearing packer. Part Number PTW1218.

This is a handy tool! It works well. The only complaint is after using it on the first bearing we found a large metal burr in the bore of the threaded rod (obviously left over from the machining process)(see image below). This made us wonder if we had pressed any metal pieces into the bearing - I guess only time will tell if we did...
Finely got around to repacking the wheel bearings on our Scamp 13 travel trailer. The seal puller popped out the bearing seal without damaging. Now I have a spares for an emergency back up. The bearing grease packer also saved time and made the job much easier.
I have ordered all my towing and trailer news from etrailer. Their business model, web site and customer service personnel are second to none.
Great fit and worked well!
This is a practical tool. And works well. After purchase and with a large can of grease. Realized that a grease gun was needed and had to make a trip to auto store for tube of wheel bearing grease. My bad for not watching the video on operation of this tool.

havent had to use but once didnt work at all grease went everywhere except into bearings.tried realigning tightening ect. Still grease over hands. finally tossed in trash resorted to hand packing. lesson learned appears to be someone tried to build a better mouse trap. Wouldnt recommend this purchase
Came quick. Packaged well.
It’s works but I prefer hand packing my self.
Bearing kit was great! Had all the parts I needed to rebuild the hubs on my snowmobile trailer. Good instructions and videos available. E Trailer is my go to place for parts and accessories.
Definitely not a production tool, but it works great for the yearly bearing repack on the trailer. The threaded shaft tends to unscrew out of the bottom piece when unscrewing the top piece to remove the bearing. Next year I might try to use wrenches to tighten these two pieces together before placing the bearing and top portion on. This year I only hand tightened it. Still works fine and I would buy it again as the price is so low.
WOW...Fast delivery w/standard shipping.
Got exactly the right bearings and grease tool that I wanted. Made 4 wheel horse trailer changeout a fun project. Thanks.
I was very impressed with the quality of this product for the price. It worked flawlessly and I had packed bearings in seconds!
No one ever told me about these tools growing up...I used to pack bearings by hand, probably getting more grease on myself than in the bearing!
I was worried about the quality for the price, but no need to be concerned. It works great, and if I lose it or break it, I'm not out much.
Etrailer 5 Stars...
Bearings 5 Stars...
Bearing Grease Tool ( plastic piece of crap) less tha 1 Star!
Packed the wheel bearings and it worked. However, it just used up lots of grease to pack the bearings. I scooped the grease and put it on the spindle. Bottom line is it works good.
This item taught me how to hand pack bearings. Just never could get it to work like I thought it should. Grease kept coming out around the edges instead of through the bearings. Not that complicated really but hand packing is better (definitely messier).
Easy to use and works well. It just waste a lot of grease. I had enough wasted grease to pack another bearing plus put some in the hub. For the cost it's just as easy to pack the bearings by hand unless you have several to do.
Great little tool for greasing bearings. Simple to use and less mess than using your hands.

I have not needed to use it since my last review
Top notch website and outstanding customer service as I had several questions concerning my bears and seals, etrailer.com answered all questions with not only helpful information and speedy response not to mention the VERY LOW LOW Prices.
First class supplier.
Thank you Etrailer
This product isn't even worth the cost of shipping, let alone the price I paid for it. The female threads weren't completely cut, preventing the male threads from going thru. Therefore, it wouldn't clamp down on the bearing to allow grease to flow thru the bearing. Do not waste your money. Either buy the higher priced device, or just get some latex gloves and do it yourself the old fashioned way.
The zerk fitting broke off after the first use. Bought a replacement from an auto parts store that seemed to be better quality zerk fitting with stronger materials.
I chose the cheapest version of the bearing packers you offer because I will probably only use it twice. As it turned out, this is an excellent little tool that worked just fine. Of course, it might not take rough handling or dropping on a concrete floor, but for my purposes, it is just fine. It's easy to use and clean.
**UPDATE WEBSKU**
One of the two was off the bead when I received it. Nothing a ratchet strap and air compressor couldn’t remedy. Needed new rubber for my boat trailer. These look like they’ll do the trick.
This works surprisingly well. I packed 20 bearings with no problem. Easy to clean up and store with minimal grease waste.
Bearing packer works as advertised, certainly easier than doing this (grease packing) by hand.
e-trailer is easy, go on line place order, products ship usually same day. Tracking provided via email great place to shop for trailer needs.
After applying grease to bearings by hand over the years, using this product not only made the task easier and cleaner but really ensures the grease gets will into every space of the bearing.
Made packing my new bearings SuPeR easy! I’ve always just hand packed bearings and it totally works, but this thing is so much faster and less messy. However, don’t for a second think that it’s going to be a clean job, even with this tool. It just makes it a little less messy and a lot faster. Great tool!

Thank you for asking. This kind of follow up as well as you customer service is way I will continue doing business with etrailer. In the past year my wife and I have towed our 13 ft Scamp camper just over 10,000 miles. The etrailer equipment I installed has worked reliably for that time and miles. I have recommended etrailer to any one who will listen and to other Scamp owners on a FaceBook page.
