Replacement Hub for Tracker TrailStar Boat Trailer

Hello. I have a 2008 Bass Tracker Pro Team 190. It has a matched Tracker TrailStar trailer. I would like to replace the entire hub. I had the seals blow out and water got inside. I am wondering which is the correct hub to use. I can tell you that the bolt pattern is 5 on 4 1/2. It has a 13inch tire on it. The GVWR on the trailer is 2700lbs and the Max Load Capacity is 2110lbs. I know for sure the one bearing is L44649. Without pulling the hub I cannot remember any information about the second bearing. I honestly cannot remember a second bearing even existing. If more information is needed, I can get the model and serial number on the trailer, or I can possibly pull the hub tomorrow night if I can get home in enough time from work. My other question is, how often does the hub need to be greased? How much needs to be added when it does need grease? Should the hub need grease every 400 to 500 miles or is that too frequently? Should I only be addressing this at the beginning and end of boating season? I have blown the seals several times and believe it to be from overpacking. If I would use one of the packing tools to fill the hub originally how often would it need grease after that? Thank you in advance for your Help!

Overpacking the trailer hub with grease is the number one reason for grease seal failure. For a boat trailer I would recommend re-packing the hubs by hand with grease once per season and you'd be fine. I don't like recommending people use Bearing Buddies or EZ lube spindles as this commonly causes over-packing.

Based on everything you mentioned the hub you'd need as a replacement is the Dexter part # 8-258-50UC1-EZ which matches the bolt pattern, the bearing you mentioned, and the capacity as well.

For grease I recommend the higher quality Red grease part # L11390. I also attached a video that covers bearing packing for you to check out as well.

I'm needing to replace 1 wheel Seal / Bearing on a Trailstar trailer wheel for a 2020 Tracker Pro Team 175 Tournament Edition trailer... If this helps, the VIN number I have is: 7J511HH1XLB001388 and the Boat Serial number is: BUJ57769I920 I was thinking it might be just as easy to install a New Hub Kit with the race already installed, not that I would need new race's... But if not a Kit, what size of Inner & Outer bearings and what else would I need ... and should I use a E-Z Lube or Buddy Bearing ? Thanks for your thoughs and suggestions. Randy R

@RandyR Hello Randy. Unfortunately, there is not a data base where we can look up the trailers and what parts were used on them. From my search I have found that the 2020 Tracker Pro Team 175 Tournament Edition trailer normally comes with a 1500 pound axle. With the 1500 pound axles there are different spindle sizes, and they require different bearings. You will need to take the hub off and either measure the spindle with a digital caliper like the # PTW80157, or take the bearings out to get the bearing numbers off of the bearings. I am attaching help article that will show you what portion of the spindle to measure. Also, in order to know if you need an EZ lube spindle there will be a zerk fitting at the end of the spindle. If you do have an EZ lube spindle you will most likely have a little rubber plug in the dust cap like # DC200L-DCRP. If you just have a full metal dust cap like # F001518 then most likely you do not have an EZ lube spindle. For 0.99" spindle you will want Bearing Kit for 1" BT8 Spindle, L44643 Inner/Outer Bearings, 34823 Seal # BK1-100 For 1.06" spindle you want Bearing Kit, L44649 Inner/Outer Bearings, 10-9 Seal # BK1-150 As for bearing buddies, always a great item to add. If you do have an ez lube spindle it will require for you to remove the zerk fitting to install them. If you want to get me the bearing size you come up with, I am happy to suggest the correct bearing buddies for you to add, if you choose. Hope you are out there catching some big ones! My biggest is still stuck at a 5 1/2 pound large mouth here in Missouri, but one day that number will change!

Thanks for getting me all the info needed to pick out a hub! Based on what you listed the correct hub you need for a replacement is the part #84545BX. This uses the same bearings as what you have and has a matching bolt pattern.
