What Kind Of Grease Is Used In The Easy Grease Idler Hub AKIHUB-440-2-EZ-2K?

Updated 04/17/2025 | Published 04/15/2025

Question:

I have bought two sets of pre-packed bearing hubs for separate trailers. I was curious if you could look up my sales history on what ones I bought and let me know what type of grease to use on those thank you. I appreciate it.

Hello Scott. Sure thing! I do see you have bought the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2K Axles # AKIHUB-440-2-EZ-2K from us twice in the past. These hubs use a lithium complex grease. This is compatible with a few different greases, but what I recommend is the LubriMatic LMX Industrial Strength Grease - 14 oz. Cartridge # L11390.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Thank you very much. I appreciate the info. I had one more question what size bearing buddies would the second set of bearings that I bought take ? I want to get some bearing buddies and I was just curious what size the prepacked hubs would take. I believe the second set of Hubs that I purchased were four bolt 2000 pound axle. I have a set of bearing buddies at home. I’m just curious what size the new hub took. Thanks

@ScottH Your hubs have a 1.99" diameter hub bore and sadly Bearing Buddy does not make an exact fit for this. The closest they make would be the 1.98" # BB1980A-SS. I know 1/100th doesn't seem like a lot but when it comes to these grease caps it is best to use an exact fit. Otherwise, you risk grease leaking out or the cap falling off.

@JesseM ok thanks again for the helpful info. I may change these hubs out this summer to a galvanized hub since this is a boat trailer. I never thought of this when I purchased them. One more question. What galvanized pre greased hub would replace these ? And are they able to use a bearing buddy? Thanks
