Features to Know About

Start with the Right Tongue Weight: Built-In Scale Shows What Your Trailer Is Putting on the Hitch

Weigh Safe True Tow Built-In Tongue Weight Scale

A good weight distribution setup starts before you ever put tension on the spring arms. The built-in scale measures the tongue weight of your loaded trailer right at the hitch, so you can check that it falls within the recommended 10% to 15% of your loaded trailer weight. If it doesn't, you can shift your cargo before heading down the road instead of trying to correct an unbalanced trailer with the hitch alone. Once your starting tongue weight is where it should be, enter your trailer data and towing-system measurements into the True Tow app or online calculator. It gives you a target distributed tongue weight to work toward during setup.

Dial In Weight Distribution at the Hitch: Live Adjustment Lets You See When You Reach Your Target

Adjusting the Lead Screw on the Weigh Safe True Tow Hitch

Once you know your target distributed tongue weight, you can fine-tune the system right at the hitch instead of working through stacks of washers. Turn the Lead Screw to angle the hitch head up or down, which puts more or less pressure on the spring arms. As you adjust, the built-in scale shows the distributed tongue weight at the hitch. That gives you a number to aim for instead of relying on guesswork, making it easier to get your setup level and the load properly distributed before you tow.

Stay Steadier in Wind and Traffic: 4-Point Sway Control Helps Keep the Trailer in Line

Even with your weight distribution dialed in, crosswinds and passing semis can start pushing a larger trailer from side to side. This True Tow adds 4 points of friction sway control, with friction at both spring-arm sockets and both trailer-bracket platforms. Those friction points resist side-to-side movement while the spring arms continue distributing the load, helping your trailer track more steadily behind your tow vehicle when conditions change.

Match a Higher Hitch Height: 10" Drop Works Well with Lifted and Higher-Riding Trucks

If your truck sits higher than the trailer coupler, you need enough drop to bring the hitch ball down to the right height before you dial in weight distribution. This model gives you up to 10" of drop with 1-1/4" height adjustments, making it a good match for lifted and higher-riding tow vehicles. The drawbar can also be flipped into the rise position when your setup calls for it. Rated for trailers up to 22,000 lbs GTW and 2,200 lbs TW, it gives larger trailers the capacity, sway control, and vertical adjustment needed for a properly matched towing setup.

Backing Up with the Hitch Attached: What to Know Before You Turn

60 degree graphic

Weigh Safe does not recommend backing with the spring arms attached, especially when you are dealing with a steep driveway, a sharp turn, or another significant change in grade. Never tow or back up with the spring arms attached if the angle between your tow vehicle and trailer centerlines exceeds 60 degrees. If you need to make a sharper turn while backing, disconnect the spring arms first. Exceeding that 60-degree limit can damage the hitch, cause system failure, and void the warranty.
