Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, we're going to be test-fitting the Rhinorack Vortex Aero roof rack system, comprised of part numbers RRVA137B-2. These are the Vortex Aero crossbars, 54 inches long. These also come in silver as part number RRVA137S-2. We'll also be using part number RRRLKVA. These are the 2500 series legs for the Vortex Aero crossbars. Finally, part number DK360, and this is the custom fit kit for the Hyundai Santa Fe.The Rhinorack Vortex Aero roof rack system is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on Hyundai Santa Fe, for freeing up space inside your vehicle.
These can carry anything from bike racks, to cargo baskets, to cargo boxes, to even ski and snowboard carriers. The bars do have an aerodynamic shape to them, and that coupled with the Vortex Aero strip as well as the strip that you put underneath, that's going to cut down the wind noise and drag while you drive, eliminating the need for any fairings that you might need for square or round bars. The end caps are lockable with this plastic tool, and once removed, you can see that you can use T-Track accessories with this by simply removing the strip to a point, cutting it to length, putting your T-Track accessory in place, and then replacing the strip itself. If you wanted to, you can replace this plastic piece at the end with a lock that is sold separately, and you can find this on etrailer.com. Our end caps are lockable, so these are secured to your roof once they're installed. A downside to that if you wanted to make these keyed alike with the accessories that you have, you would have to replace the lock that's already there with something else.
It's very easy to install. It just simply clamps into place with the screw up at the top and does come with the tools to do so.From the center of the roof to the top of our bar, that's going to be about four and a quarter inches tall. Also, the two bars combined have a carrying capacity of 165 pounds, but you always want to double-check with your vehicle's manual to make sure your roof can withstand those weights. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the roof rack system, let's go ahead and show you how we install it. We've already installed our front bar on to our vehicle. We have our rear bar partially assembled on our table, here.
In front, you'll see the 2500 series leg, the fit kit, the measuring strip for the bar, the two end caps for the bar, as well the keys to lock and unlock them, our included tightening tool, and the end cap, and end cap locking tool as well. Our first step is we're going to take our leg and install it on the other end here. First we'll flip. The bar upside down just makes it a little bit easier to install this. We'll take our leg, and this metal piece here on the top, that's going to slide into the track underneath, here, like so. For the measurement in between here, you'll find that in your instructions.
Then you'll take this strip, you'll cut it to length and put that in place and slide it up to the location and tighten it down. For demonstration purposes, we'll just measure it out because we don't want to cut this right now. We'll take our included tool, tighten the screw in the center here all the way until it's not going to move. Then, of course, you would cut your strip to length and put that in place as well. Next, we'll install our rubber footpad, making sure our number and the arrow are facing the proper direction. To do that, you just simply look in the instructions and it'll let you know. This just pushes into place, kind of a friction fit. Our final step is to install our clamp. We'll remove our screw here at the top, and we'll bring our clamp into place. We'll just loosely tighten this up because we just want to hold it in while we put this on our roof. Alright Finally, we can install our end cap here since we don't have to tighten anything else down, and secure that into place as well. Now we can set this on our roof. The reason why we installed our front bar first is you have to use that as a point of reference when you're measuring out your crossbar spread. So we assembled it just like you saw on the table, and then we measured back from the center of the door jamb to the center of the bar. Now, with our rear bar in place, we'll go from center to center there, and get it in it's proper position. We'll do this on both sides as well. We'll continue to tighten it down with our included tool, here, giving about five turns to each side until it's completely tightened down. With our tool here, you see it has a bend. Once that straightens out as you tighten it, that means it's torqued to its proper specification, like so.Our final step is to put our end caps into place and lock them in, and there you have it for the Rhinorack Vortex Aero roof rack system on our 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport.

These heavy-duty, aluminum crossbars work with Rhino-Rack legs to create a sturdy roof rack. The square bars include built-in C-channels for mounting Rhino-Rack heavy-duty, contractor-grade accessories.I’ve had this rhino rack for over 3 years and it’s been excellent on long road trips to the ski slopes. A year after my purchase, I realized that I was missing the plastic coverings that attached to the end of the bars and called their customer service to resolve the missing pieces. I was impressed with their quick response and seamless delivery.
The rack fit well and was easy to install. Seems to be made well. The problem is the amount of road noise. I never even put the basket on. It was so loud, it roared. I repositioned it several times but the noise was way too much and I finally just removed it. I spent a lot of money for the rack and the basket and now they are in storage. I wish it would have worked out better because I thought it looked really good.
This has been a disaster, and terrible experience from the start. Original product Rhino roof rack ($188.00) misrepresented for sale, even called and was told all parts were included as "Open Box" item. Received item with missing parts and mismatched parts, then ET sent wrong parts (Legs) causing having to order these cross bars ($192.00) to fit parts sent (Legs). Now my $300.00 BougeRV ski rack - mounting base plates won't fit the crossbars. Still waiting for return label for original item so I can get my refund of $188.00. Three weeks later, still dealing with problem. I do appreciate Shawnee and EDW for their efforts in follow up service attempts.
Great product, fit was spot on with correct vehicle specific parts. Etrailer
was fantastic to work with. Great communication and feedback, worked through a small problem with positive outcome. Will definitely purchase from them again, their customer service department is top notch.
Ordered a Rhino Rack for my 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali. Rack arrived in very good shape and all items were there. Installing at this time and see no problems ahead.
Tricky to rivet tracks onto car with a manual riveter but once done, a great solution for the car with ease of bar removal. My only regret was going with the square bars which result in notable increase in wind noise.
High-quality, sturdy rails, but noisy. There was a pronounced and audible whistle driving with these racks at any common road or highway speed (with the rubber inserts installed across the top). I have since replaced these rails with the Rhino vortex aero style (change of vehicles and the HD bars did not fit the new car). Having used both types several times, I would recommend the aero style over the HD if you have the option.
Product installation instructions were fair, and that is the worst thing I have to say. I havent put anything on the rack yet as I just installed it, but I gave a good tug on the bars and they are SOLID. The product came in a reasonable amount of time, and the feedback for etrailer is that I got followup emails at each step of the process keeping me fully informed right up to the message asking for feedback.
Bottomline: etrailer is a great business to work with, and this product seems to be good too.
Good quality and locks are included. The plastic lock covers are flimsy but they will keep an honest person honest.
Can't really comment on the bars because they didn't arrive but the legs got here. Called Justin and he is getting them shipped, just wondering why it takes so long to get here. Picked on 8/12 and delivery is set for 8/23.
We installed our Vortex Aero rack on a 2013 Santa Fe Sport. The instructions were easy to understand, and it took me and my husband about an hour to install. The rack looks great on our car. The etrailer customer service has been a great help. There is never any wait when calling them, and they are always helpful. We are very happy with the roof rack and with the etrailer team.
This kit is easy to slap on and sturdy enough to balance my skis and snowboards. I recently used the Rhino Rack on a three hour drive to a ski resort and had no issues.
I have to say that I was hesitant ordering from a company that of which we had never heard, but we did anyway. Fabulous decision! Shipping was fast. Company to consumer communication was right on the money. These took no time to install in addition to the crossbars we ordered. They fit on my SantaFe sport 2013 with panoramic sunroof fabulously. Looks just like the video vehicle. Bought them for a couple of ten foot kayaks. No slipping or shifting. Went up to 60mph. If you are hesitant, don't be. My husband and I are thrilled with our purchase! We have even been return customers!
The roof rack works great and is easy to put on and take off the Santa Fe. We attach our luggage carrier on it for trips and when we take our daughter to college and bring her stuff home. It increases our space so we can carry more.
This rack works perfectly on my Nissan Versa for carrying my two Perception Sound 9'6" kayaks. The Rhino-Racks look good to me. The kayaks can rest directly on the rubber pads on the rails, unlike the Yakama racks I had in the past that had bare pipe rails. Also, I expect I can buy parts to adapt this product to a different car without having to buy new towers. I am sorry there are not hooks or loops to attach bungees when carrying lumber. They are noisy in the wind, but less so when carrying the kayaks.
This is my second Rhino-Rack. They go on very easily and hold the bikes/kayaks and even an extension ladder very well....thanks for a great product
Overall, happy with the product. I found that every few days after long drives the roof clamps loosen slightly and need to be re-tightened, depending on your load. When first installing the roof clamps, one of the clamps had a small metal bur on the edge (manufacturing defect) which left a nice sized scratch in the roof. Other than that, the rack has been a good product for the price.
The rack and crossbars were easy to install using the instructions and videos, great product, very happy we got them.
Two items I received surprised me when I unpacked the box were the rails because they were not black like I saw in the picture, and the rubber insert that I am having a hard time sliding in the rail. Should this rubber insert have come already installed in the rail or is there a top on how to put in with ease?
Awesome roof rack! I got it to haul my kayak around. The rack is super solid and so easy to install. I was planning on taking it off when not using it but once I realized there is zero wind noise from it I am just going to leave it on, looks good on vehicle too!
eTrailer and RhinoRack are the best! r>^^^^
Thanks to Etrailer, I am ready to do some serious summer exploring with my 2013 Mazda 3! Rhino Racks, Malone top box, and Kuat bike rack!
I am normally a exclusive Amazon shopper, but etrailer gives equal or better service and has specialty items you just can't find anywhere else. The pricing is great also. This is my 4th order from them on this project and the response has been perfect and the shipping has been prompt. They even offered to take back an item that I did not need. I desperately wanted to mount my 19ft Kayak on my new RV and with some Rhino RT tracks, a Rhino Nautic kayak lifter, a few really heavy duty rivets, and some ingenuity, I was able to accomplish the task. I am replacing the current Nautic bars with the heavy duty bars. See the attached pictures.
Great product everything fit perfectly. With the heavy duty bars almost all the hardware for anything you put on the rack is too short
Good product, no need for foam blocks
