  Hello Ben. Anytime we see a trailers suspension go "wonky" like that it is almost always due to incorrectly sized suspension components. Since you say you replaced things recently, I suspect this is the issue. If the equalizer is pivoting forward and hitting the frame, this could mean your springs are too long. I do recommend that you stick with a spring that is appropriately rated for your trailer. You would not want to put a 6,000 lb spring on a 3,500 lb axle.

  I would not recommend going all the way up to the 6,000LB Spring # e47SR as this would cause the suspension to not flex properly with the weight on the trailer. We do have the 4,000LB Spring # e57SR which is only 1/8" longer than the 3,500LB Spring # e54SR. This small difference in length will still work on your setup as the shackle bolts allow for a little play.   I believe you are talking about the leaf count on the leaf springs. The leaf count won't have an impact on the ride as long as the rating is the same. For example, the 4-leaf # e47SR will have the same ride quality as the 6-leaf # e94SR since they're both rated for 6,000 lbs. A higher leaf count may result in them lasting a little bit longer with the extra material but it wouldn't be noticeable.
