Features to know about

Smoother Ride Over Rough Roads: Rubber-Cored Equalizers Absorb Shock

Standard cast equalizers transfer every bump straight through the frame. The Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit replaces them with cushioned equalizers that have built-in rubber cores to soak up road shock and cut down on that harsh bounce. Each equalizer is designed for tandem-axle setups rated up to 6,000 lbs and fits an axle spacing of 33". The rubber flexes with each hit, minimizing fore-aft chucking so the trailer rides steadier and gear inside stays put.

Built for Long Miles: Heavy-Duty Steel and Bronze Components

Dexter uses strong steel throughout the kit for durability under load. The equalizers carry a corrosion-resistant bronze finish that stands up to road grime and moisture. Heavy-duty shackles connect the springs with solid support, letting the suspension move smoothly without flexing the hardware. It’s a lasting upgrade that keeps the suspension tight and responsive mile after mile.

Quiet, Low-Maintenance Operation: Wet Bolts and Grease Zerks

Dry joints are what make suspensions squeak and bind. This kit fixes that with wet bolts that have built-in grease zerks. A quick shot of grease keeps the bushings and bolts turning freely so the suspension stays quiet and wears evenly. The easy-access fittings mean you can lube the system in minutes without taking anything apart.

Everything You Need in One Box: Complete 6,000-lb Tandem-Axle Kit

The kit includes two E-Z Flex equalizer assemblies, eight shackle strap assemblies with wet bolts, four shoulder bolts, two press bolts, twelve flange nuts, and two hex locking nuts. Equalizer dimensions measure 5-3/4" between outer shackle bolt holes, 2-7/8" from hanger bolt hole to shackle bolt hole, and 2" from side bolt hole to hanger bolt hole. Shackle straps are 2-1/4" center-to-center with 9/16" bolt holes. Everything matches up cleanly for a direct upgrade that installs easily and keeps your trailer suspension working the way it should.

I’ve had my fifth wheel for 14 years and put around 50 k miles on it. This is the second time I’ve had to replaced the equalizers on the RV. The rubber cushions get hard and split. I greased the pins at least twice a year, but they were badly worn. The new links are much thicker, perhaps they will hold up better.

I struggled to get the new bushings in the leaf spring eyes, until I used a long 9/16” bolt, nut and a stack of washers to pull them in.

I wanted to replace the grease nipples with angled one for easier access. When tried to remove one with a small opened wended wrench it twisted off.

Thanks for such a great detailed review Al. Great call out with getting the bushings in. In the last 14 years, what has been your most memorable trip, where did you go, what did you see?

Upgrade for my trailer with worn bushings and no lube points.
The rubber on these equalizers along with the wet bolts and bushings eliminate the squeaks and creaks on my trailer.

After a year, these have eliminated the squeaks and creaks of my stock setup. The wet bolts and grease-able joints, along with the bumper really help the shaking and movement of things around inside the trailer. Also, these are much heavier duty than the factory ones.

This suspension kit is a must for ANY tandem trailer!
Took the bounce right out of our 16' enclosed work trailer.[pictured] I also had installed a pair on my boat trailer, that was only a year old and the plastic bushing where already worn and it made a some aweful noise when turning, now no more noise! Both trailers tow great!

The rubber really does a great job of taking that road shock Cyco! What kind of boat do you have, and what body of water do you get out on most? I just have a little bass boat, but love getting out on the Lake of the Ozarks and Mark Twain Lake here in Missouri to chase the Bass =)

@KateF I bought my Nitro Z19 at Pro-Choice in Warsaw, Dec 2022. We went to the Ozarks after we picked it up. Wanted to take it out but it was only 20 degrees out AND I forgot life jackets, lol. Been meaning to get back there, thinking an April/May trip. I'm in Wisconsin, fish a lot of lakes and rivers.

I am very impressed with the help and advice I received when I was trying to upgrade the suspension on our Coachman travel trailer. After you sorted out the details you recommended I try the Dexter Equal flex kit. The shipping was was incredibly fast (three days) and the recommended kit went on exactly as described. I’m very impressed with the overall experience and would highly recommend etrailer to anyone interested in upgrading their units.

Why thank you very much, Gary! Looks like you did a great job with the install too :) Do you have any tips or tricks to pass on to anyone in review section looking for help?

by:
This kit is awesome, I highly recommend it (assuming its dimensions match your existing equalizer, of course). I think the ride is way less jarring - items don't seem buffeted around in drawers and cabinets like before. It's very straightforward to install, and I had no trouble at all on our Cherokee 255RR fifth wheel RV. You should do the entire wet bolt kit and heavy-duty shackle plates while you're at it.
by:
Installation was pretty straight forward. Did have the camper up on jack stands (1 pr 6-ton, and 1 pr 4-ton) and all 4 wheels removed. A large clamp proved the best tool for pressing the bushings into place. Do not try to tap them in with a hammer and block of wood. Used my ATV jack to support the axle.
I did give 4 stars as the end hangar bolts were too short to fit thru the frame on my Cougar RV, and I ended up using the original factory bolts (which did not have grease fittings) on those 4 points.
Amy was great to work with!
by:
Bought this kit last year for a tandem axle car hauling trailer. The original equalizer and bushings were just wore out from normal use. The wear was creating lots of extra vibration and noise. Thought I would give this a try. I am beyond impressed. The trailer now tows and rides as good as one of my other trailers that has torsion suspension. Vibration from axle misalignment and rattles are gone! I am so impressed I have now purchased another kit for my 5th wheel camper. Have not had the 5th wheel out yet but my expectations are pretty high after the improvement I have experienced with the other trailer. Some would argue that since my camper has shocks this is redundant. My answer to that is, "shocks and springs have different jobs". Very easy to install. Only took 2.5 hours total for both sides.

Over a year now and about 18k miles. Still impressed! The improvement on my 5th wheel just as impressed as with car trailer.

by:
The package had not been opened but it was missing the 2 nuts for the center bolts. I was already into the project when I found they were missing so I had to get them locally. What happened to quality control?
by:
Huge improvement over the stock equalizers!
by:
This kit is fantastic. Everything I needed to complete a proper overhaul on the suspension for my 2014 Nash 23B. Only issue I had was with one axle having a flipped shackle. I found a YouTube video that demonstrated you just jack up the axle that is in the correct shackle orientation and the other axle will pop into the correct position.
by:
My trailer was due for some maintenance cuz everytime I was returned when the axles twist there's a lot of popping crack on going on this is when you know you need to change out the bushings and shackles. But with these pins you can keep the pins greased. I have 6540 lbs inside trailer all the time. So now the trailer rides a little. Plus the it quiet things up when I now turn.

I was on the fence last year when I began this upgrading project, but I’ve been so pleased at the end results. The customer support team at etrailer have been amazing! I actually had an issue of a part that came up missing during shipping, which wasn’t their fault & they went above and beyond to make sure my trailer wasn’t left stranded during an upcoming trip. I will continue to do business with etrailer for any & all needs that I might have in the future.
by:
Great customer service. The tech that helped me was trained well. He made sure I had the proper part for my rv. Thanks a lot.
by:
Parts came in fast more stout, then originals. I can feel a difference towing in ride quality and response when reversing
by:
So far so good! Big improvement from the factory parts. I would recommend to anyone upgrading their trailer.
by:
I ordered over the phone. Service was great. I haven’t installed the Dexter kit yet but my order arrived within a couple of days. The packaging was intact & has some heft to it. Should work great as an upgrade to the stock equalizer on our camper. Thanks etrailer!!!
by:
Very happy with them, and had them on for about year. They are working well, I also bought new leaf springs too, plus I upgraded the new disc & rotors, electric hydraulic pump, breakaway braking system along with them, plus flipping the axels, and new shock kit. The whole job was a little bit of money, but, thinking it was well worth the effort, time, and money. She [ The Hillbilly Hillton ], a customer cargo trailer, is a real pleasure to tow around and was really made to go offroad and explore the back country. She rides like butter! : ) All parts came from etrailer, they had everything I need
by:
I replaced my leaf springs, drums, brakes and added the Dexter E-Z Suspension kit to my Keystone Cougar Fifth Wheel trailer last year. This was my first time working with etrailer and I can’t say enough about how well it all went from the ordering to the install.
Tammie P did a amazing job with knowing what parts would work best on my trailer. Tammie also gave me updates on my deliveries that I appreciated. I had a trip planned short after I received my parts. So having someone at their end checking on arrival dates helped. In the future I will definitely use etrailer for all my trailer needs. Thanks again for all the help! Great Team....
by:
Great product. Not an easy installation but well worth the effort. Tuffest part is getting the old bolts out and the new bushings and bolts pressed back in. I found I could not effectively pound them out or in as directions suggests. I made a simple tool using a large C clamp and two sockets to press the old ones out and the new ones in. Picture enclosed

We replaced the leaf springs and the equalizers at the same time with products from etrailer.com. The Dexter equalizers were much better than the stock product and easy to install. The leaf springs were exactly the same as those we could purchase locally and at a significantly reduced price. Well done etrailer.
