  • What Size Axle Does a #84 Spindle Fit
A true 1 inch spindle is a BT8 spindle, like # TRU94FR. The next closest one would be the BTR spindle which is commonly referred to as a 1-1/16 inch spindle, like # TRU44FR and is more common than the BT8. Both of these are typically used with 2,000 lb axles. A #84 spindle, like # TRU24FR or # TRU47FR is bigger and is used for 3,500 lb axles. Common sizes for these are 2-3/8 inch round axle, 3 inch round axle, and 2 inch square axle. I have linked a helpful page that shows the different...

  • Replacement 3,500 lb Trailer Spindle that Fits In 2 inch Axle Tube
Spindles have to be welded onto a trailer axle by a pro with the correct jigs to allow it to have perfect alignment. That would be why you weren't able to simply insert the spindle.

  • Spindle Dimensions of a 3500 lb Axle
3500 lb axles have the most common and most consistent spindle sizes. They are typically 1.73 inches at the seal, 1.38 inches at the inner bearing and 1.06 inches at the outer bearing like # TRU24FR. I've attached a video to assist. I've linked the page to all of the options for hubs or hub/drum assemblies for this size spindle. There are 4 different sizes for 5 bolt assemblies and I've attached an article to assist.

  • Correct Spindle for Hub with L44610 and L68111 Races
The numbers that you mentioned are actually for the races that pair with the inner and outer bearings in the trailer hub. The # L44610 race is commonly used with the # L68149 inner bearing while the # L68111 race is usually paired with the # L44649 outer bearing. If this is the case then you likely have a 3,500 pound hub like the Dexter # 84546UC3 that is compatible with a #84 spindle like the TruRyde #84 Spindle, part # TRU24FR. As long as you have a 2-3/8 inch round axle the correct...

  • What Trailer Axle Spindle Has Bearings L68149 and L44649
If you know the trailer axle capacity that's a pretty good way to determine what spindle you have. Or if you get me the bearing numbers. You can also measure the spindle where the bearings ride and with that info I can let you know what you have.

  • Replacing 10x1-1/2 Inch Brake Assemblies with 10x2-1/4 Inch Brake Assemblies
As long as your spindles are 4.75 inches from seal to threading like # TRU24FR or # TRU57FR they are compatible. I've attached a photo to assist. You will be able to use the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs # AKEBRK-35-SA. We do not carry a hub that will fit the bearings you referenced. My recommendation is to change your axle or at least your spindle to allow you to use standard hubs like # AKHD-545-35-K. This will require...

  • Replacement Hubs Based on Tapered Spindle Measurements
If you give me the tapered spindle measurements like in the attached photo, I can help you get the replacement hubs you need. I need the measurements at letter B where the seal sits, letter C where the inner bearing rides, and letter D where the outer bearing rides. The only other thing I will need is bolt pattern and whether you want idler hubs, drum brakes, or disc rotors. I've attached an article to assist with bolt pattern to match your wheels.

  • What Spindle Works with the Kodiak Disk Brake Assembly # K1HR35D?
For the Kodiak Disc Brake Assembly - 10" Hub/Rotor - 5 on 4-1/2 - Dacromet - 3,500 lbs # K1HR35D, you need a Dexter #84 Spindle like the #84 Spindle for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles - 2" Diameter # TRU24FR or the #84 E-Z Lube Spindle w/ Brake Flange for 3,500-lb Trailer Axle - 1-3/4" Diameter # TRU74FR. It is important to note that the spindle must be welded perfectly square onto the axle. If the spindle is even slightly lopsided, you will not have an even wheel surface for the trailer. We here...

  • Replacement 5 on 4-1/2 Hub for a Trailer w/ a LM12749 Outer Bearing
Hey Seth, I am sorry but we have no hubs with any lug pattern that will work with your LM12749 outer bearing. That bearing is obsolete. The only solution I have for you is to replace your spindles with one like the item # TRU24FR so you'll be able to find a hub with modern use bearing sizes. I have attached a diagram below that shows the dimensions of the #84 Spindle item # TRU24FR. If you could get some measurements off of your spindles I can match a replacement up as close as possible. • Idler Hub for Trailer Axle with 1-1/16 Inch and 3/4 Inch Tapered Spindle
I do have an option for you but we do not offer any trailer hubs with bearings that match the dimensions you provided. Therefore, we can either offer you a new spindle like the TruRyde Spindle part # TRU24FR or a new axle like the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles part # 7359765. There is not a lot of room for error when replacing a spindle therefore unless you are an experienced welder then replacing the axle will be your best option. In order to recommend a replacement...

  • Availability Of 5 On 5-1/2 Hubs For A 5.2K Or 6K Axle
A #84 spindle is the standard 3,500 lb axle spindle. It uses an inner bearing L68149 (1.378" inner diameter), and an outer bearing L44649 (1.063" inner diameter). These days this is basically universal for 3,500 lb axles. What you have with your 25580 outer and LM67048 Inner bearings is either a 5,200 lb or 6,000 lb axle. The 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern and the 3" round tube also indicate a 5.2K or 6K axle. With your axle and bearing combination, there are not any hubs with a 5 on 5-1/2"...

  • What Grease Seals Do I Need For An # 84 Spindle
If the inner diameter bearing on your spindle measures 1.38" and the outer diameter bearing measures to be 1.06", then you have a #84 spindle such as part # TRU24FR rated for 3,500 lb. trailer axles. The correct grease seals for this spindle are Grease Seal - Double Lip part # 58846 which has an inner diameter of 1.719" and an outer diameter of 2.565". As the grease seals are a very tight fit, you may want to use a block of wood and mallet to get the seals to seat properly. Attached is...

  • Replacement Hub and Bearings for a 3.5K Axle On a Trail Star Boat Trailer
Chris, so to start with your questions, you can use the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-35-K as a replacement hub and drum assembly, and the #84 Spindle for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles # TRU24FR to replace your spindle, but we unfortunately do not have a replacement free backing kit. But, we do have replacement bearings # L68149 & # L44649, along with the triple lip seal # DX49CR should you need those as well.

  • Do I Need to Replace #84 Spindle With Rust On Surface and What Bearing Kit Do I Need
You should still be able to use your spindle without having to replace anything, especially because this is not in the seating areas for the bearings. Regardless, I recommend cleaning off the spindle with emery cloth to try to remove as much of the rust as possible. You'll want to take care to make sure that there is no pitting on the spindle that might damage the new bearings, which would be the only case that I recommend replacing the spindles. If you do end up needing to replace your...

  • Determining Correct Replacement Axle For Older Axle With Obsolete L68149 LM12749 Bearing Combo
I have a replacement axle option for you, but we do not have any hubs that will fit your spindle with the # L68149 and LM12749, and I was unable to find any replacements online. The best option is going to be replacing the axle with one that uses standard bearings to make finding replacement parts now and in the future easier. To do this you will need to take a few measurements, from hub face to hub face and and from spring center to spring center, and determine the axle weight rating. The...

  • Availability Of Replacement Trailer Hubs With L44649 and LM11949 Bearing Combination
Based on the measurements you provided of your outer bearing you have the # LM11949 which is kind of an odd-ball bearing, and as such there are no hubs that we offer that use the # L44649 and # LM11949 bearing combination. You did not mention why you need to replace the hub, but assuming there is no excessive damage then your best bet is going to be replacing the bearings with # LM11949, and # L44649, and the races with # L44610 and # LM11910 to refurbish the hub. If it is damaged to...

  • Are #84 Spindles Threaded into the Axle?
No, they're welded. You assumed correctly. The spindles listed below that I referenced in your previous question all have to be welded on. • How to Determine if Trailer Spindle is Bent
One thing you can do is take a straight edge that is longer than your tire and lay it across the tire parallel with your trailer frame. Measure the distance from the frame to the straight edge in front and back of the tire. If the measurement is the same then your spindle is not bent. This is assuming your tires are in good shape and don't have any bulges. Outside of that, the only way to find if it is bent is to take your trailer to a professional who can check your spindle alignment.

  • Availability of Spindle that Would Fit Square Tube Axle
New spindles should be welded on only by a professional welder who has experience and the correct jigs for installing spindles perfectly straight and concentric. If not installed correctly the trailer may not track properly and uneven tire wear can occur. It might be more trouble than it's worth to try and fit a round spindle like the part # TRU24FR in a square tube axle by trimming it. We have a square version of this spindle as part # TRU47FR.

Unfortunately we do not have any hubs that use those bearing numbers. Your options would be to remove your old spindle and install a new spindle such as # TRU24FR with compatible hub and drum such as # 84546UC3. You could also replace your entire axle with one such as # 35545E-ST-89, which is rated for 3,500 lbs and has electric brakes. In order to determine the correct axle you would need to measure from hub face to hub face and spring center to spring center like in the accompanying photo....

While we have an option for you, the Agricultural Spindle # TRU54FR uses uncommon bearings, so there isn't a hub for it with a 5 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern, just the 4 on 5" Trailer Hub Assembly # AH15450ECOMP. What you can use instead is a more common #84 spindle, which does have a hub with a 5 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern available: - #84 Spindle for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles # TRU24FR - Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles - 5 on 5-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKIHUB-555-35-K This will give you...

  • Stainless Steel Kodiak Disc Brakes for 3,500 Pound # 84 Spindle

To replace your brakes and hubs you'll need the Kodiak Stainless Steel Brake Kit # K2R35S with hubs # KH84545S. You'll also need the bearing kit # BK2-100 that I mentioned earlier.

  • Replacement Spindle for 3,500 lb Trailer Axle with 2-3/8 inch Diameter
Since you have a 2-3/8 inch diameter axle and that indicates you have a 3,500 lb axle the 84 spindle like the part # TRU24FR will work great as that is what capacity this axle was designed for. Installing spindles is a precision job that should only be done by a welder with the needed jigs to get the spindle completely square to the axle.

Hi Joel; we have bearings and a seal with those measurements. For a bearing with a 1-1/16" (1.063") inner diameter what you need is Bearing # L44649. Then for a bearing with a 1-3/8" (1.375") inner diameter the correct part is Bearing # LM48548. There are a number of grease seals with a 1-3/4" (1.75") inner diameter though, and they all have different outer diameters so you are going to have to know what that is to get the right one.
