Video Transcript for Hands-On with the Rubber Lube Plug

Hey, everybody. Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the TruRyde Replacement Grease Cap Plug. And although these are a small component on your trailer, it's a good idea to to pay attention to them, because they do serve a purpose. You know, if you have the style of grease cap that has a plug in it and lets you get to the grease fitting inside of there, you're gonna want that to stay sealed up and keep contaminants out. Water, dirt, debris, whatever the case may be.

And so, honestly, over time, it just almost becomes a maintenance item. And today on my boat here, we have a perfect example of that. So the current plug that is on my trailer, this is what's happening. It started to kind of balloon out and dry rot, and it's getting ready to let go. And this is probably only about a year old.

You know, I'm in and out of the water lot. The boat is stored outside, so the sun's hitting it, and I just want to get it fixed before, you know, it actually breaks. And you know, these things just pop right out. My cap and everything's in good shape, so I really don't need to replace the whole deal. But, you know, probably the main question you're gonna wonder, "are these going to fit" And as long as the opening here in your grease cap is 1.18 inches in diameter, this will plug in and seal everything up.

And you know, honestly, it's almost a standard size. A lot of the manufacturers, different manufacturers that make this style, you know, these are gonna fit kind of across the board, generally speaking. But it's a good idea to double check to make sure, just in case. But these things just pop right in. And that's really all there is to it.

It's a good, tight fit. Keeps everything sealed up, and hopefully buy me some more time. So, you know, these are sold individually, also as a set. If you wanna pick that up, I'd probably just replace them all, if I'm going through and doing it. But that said, these are pretty standard, you know, they're made of rubber. Like I said, this one I got maybe about a year out of. And what I'm thinking I'm probably gonna end up doing is trying this style out, just to see if there's a difference over time. So this one's made by Deemax, it's silicone and not rubber. So, you know, in theory, my thought would be it'd hold up better against water and stuff like that. But time will tell. It feels well-built. So if that's something you wanna try out as well, this is definitely an option for you. If you do happen to have, you know, your original caps are torn or missing or whatever, definitely not a bad idea to take a look inside of there, right If the grease looks contaminated, or anything along those lines, usually a good idea to go a step further and inspect your other parts in there, because it's really important, you know If you have bearing failure or something like that, you can really chew up a lot of parts or, you know, really cause a hazardous type situation. So yeah, if you notice that, take it apart, inspect it. You know, usually if I run into something like that, bearings and stuff are very affordable, and I'll usually end up just replacing and kind of go through it all. But that's up to you, if that's something you want to do. We carry all those different types of parts right here at etrailer. You can be able to find just about anything you need. But other than that, at the end of the day, if you're looking for a good option as far as a replacement cap goes, this will definitely work out for you.

Product was just exactly what we needed, we only needed one and you allowed us to order just one. thank you. Also it was reasonably priced and shipped at a very reasonable rate. One other site wanted $36 to ship the same plug that you charged a couple of bucks for. A big thank you for that!!!!

by:

Worked great, could not find them locally and found them here. Always afraid to order from a site I did not know but received order confirmation very quickly along with a name and number to call with questions!

Very nice, wish some of my more complicated purchases offered service like that.

Anyway, they arrived very quickly and they worked. Not much you can say about a rubber plug.

by:

Like others I could not find this product locally, so I went to the internet. Although it was a very inexpensive material, etrailer.com allowed the order to be placed for less than $5 AWESOME!! Other companies would not process the small value order.
Easy finding the odd ball part at etrailer as well
Easy tranasction!
Good communication back of order confirmation
Good communication back of order shipped

And the product was of great quality and fit perfect.
Got the order in 2 days after it shipped.

I will use etrailer.com for my next parts order.
Thank You
Travis

  • Replacement Rubber Plug for EZ Lube Spindles
I do have an option for you but the Rubber Lube Plug part # DC-RP that you purchased is designed to fit a 1.18" diameter opening and will not work for you assuming the plug you measured is indeed 1.5" diameter. Instead, the better option for you would be to replace the entire grease cap. This way you get a brand new seal and will not have to worry about the rubber cap falling out or not working. In order to recommend the correct grease cap we would need to know the diameter of where the...

  • Replacement EZ Lube Grease Cap For Trailer Hub on 4,400 lb Dexter Axle
We do have the correct grease cap for the hub on your Dexter 4,400 lb axle, but # 21-41-1 won't fit as it is for 3,500 lb axles. Instead, what you will need is the following: - 2.44" OD EZ Lube Grease Cap # 21-42-1 - Rubber Lube Plug # DC-RP I did verify directly with Dexter for you that this is the correct part.

  • Recommendation For Bearing/Races/Seals Replacement Kit For 7,000-lb Lippert EZ-Lube Axles
I contacted Lippert to confirm bearing sizes and it sounds like your 7,000-lbs axles have an outer bearing like Item # 14125A and an inner bearing like Item # 25580 and a 10-36 seal. Based on this information, I recommend the replacement Bearing Kit, Item # BK3-200, which includes bearings, races, grease seals, and cotter pin. For hub grease caps, I recommend Item # rg04-120. The dust caps are sold separately so if you need them I recommend the Rubber Lube Plug, Item # DC-RP. If these...

  • Troubleshooting Water Getting Inside Hub on a 2019 Karavan Trailer For Boston Whaler 17 Montauk

If you have something different please send me pictures so I can verify what is being used.
