Features to know about

Quick Safety Checks on the Go: Push-to-Test LED Indicator

Ever unsure if your trailer's breakaway system is fully charged before a trip? With the Bright Way Push-to-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit, a simple push of a button lets you know your battery's status instantly. The LED lights give you a quick visual check: green means fully charged, yellow means it's charging, and red means recharging is needed. This feature ensures that your trailer's brakes are always ready to go, providing peace of mind on the road.

Protecting the Battery Against the Elements: Durable Top-Load Battery Box

If you're tired of worrying about your breakaway kit's battery being exposed to harsh weather, the durable top-load case is the perfect solution. Made from tough plastic, this box is designed to protect against moisture and other environmental factors, thanks to its rugged rubber O-ring seal. Installed on the trailer frame, this compact design is both space-efficient and provides easy access from above, keeping the 12-Volt, sealed lead-acid battery safe and dry.

Reliable Safety on Any Terrain: Electric Brake Activation

Navigating unpredictable trailer detachment scenarios can be daunting, but this breakaway kit steps in to safely activate your trailer's electric brakes when needed. Once the cable detaches from the switch, it sends a signal to engage the brakes, bringing your trailer to a prompt halt. This built-in security feature works effectively on both single-axle and tandem-axle trailers equipped with electric braking systems, ensuring you're always prepared for any on-road eventuality.

No Hassle Charging: Built-In 1-Amp Automatic Charger

Keeping your trailer's battery charged shouldn't be an added chore and with this built-in 1-Amp automatic charger, it won’t be. It conveniently charges the battery while connected to your vehicle, ensuring your battery is always ready without needing a separate charging setup. Whether heading out for a day trip or after a long haul, this reliable feature keeps your system ready and your worries at bay.

Secure Wiring Installations Every Time: Integrated Wire Loom and Clear Diagram

Simplify your setup process with the kit's integrated wire loom that neatly bundles and protects wires. Additionally, a clear wiring diagram is printed on the box itself, making DIY installations straightforward and easy. No more messy wiring or confusion—this setup keeps everything secure and organized, ensuring a neat and user-friendly installation.

Just got it 5 minutes ago.

by:

Quick shipping and great service as usu al...Thanks!!!

by:

Excellent quality same as the original box on my Aluma trailer. The agents were very helpful in making sure I did receive the right box.

by:

Sorry about the delay, the truck was stuck in the fire evacuation zone. Everything is OK now. The breakaway switch worked fine. Even installed it in the same mounting hole as the broken one. The battery box also works fine, although the trailer didn't have the 12v wire connected. After fixing that it shows when the trailer is connected and tests the battery well. The only misleading indication is the charging light is lit, even if the truck battery has a lower voltage than the trailer battery. Not a problem.

by:

Lightning fast processing and delivery!! Next day, even with the free shipping because of the size of the order!

It will take me a few days to get this installed, but the kit looks complete and well thought out.

by:

Initially the product was going to take a while to arrive and I immediately got an email from etrailer to that effect and to see if there was an alternative I would prefer that was in stock. I went with the original order and decided to wait. The wait turned out to be much shorter than I expected and it arrived within a couple of weeks. Great customer service and follow up.

by:

Yes I like it and thanks very much. I liek every thing I get from u guys but the latter rack I got for my truck

by:

The only disappointment - original est arrival was on a Friday before deep freeze temps hit my area only to be revised to Tuesday in the middle of single digit temps. No biggie for some but uncomfortable for Virginia folks. Kit arrived complete with the battery fully charged. Once the daytime highs shot above 40 deg, it took about 30 minutes to remove the old Breakaway kit and install the new. Original mounting holes from the factory Aluma kit matched the Bright Way battery box perfectly. Tandem brakes on 16' trailer are good to go.

I suggest if you’re in the trailer industry and have a business don’t buy from this company, they have a date that it’s supposed to come and it’s a joke, I ordered it on Saturday 22nd and was supposed to be here on the 25th which it tomorrow. It’s still in Utah. So if you run a trailer business and need parts asap you’re better off buying from AMAZON OR YOUR LOCAL TRAILER STORE. Again DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY THEYRE FULL OF IT. This is disappointing especially when you rely on them, and they let you down. Don’t do it, again don’t do it. The only way I’ll take my review down is if I receive it by tomorrow the 25th.

by:

Nice replacement for my trailer. Easy to install. Nice wiring diagram on top of unit.

by:

The battery was fully charged when it arrived and still fully charged a couple of months later when I finally got around to installing it. Works as expected. The lanyard for the breakaway switch is pretty long (50",) so I installed it as far back as I could on the trailer frame.

Great. I have not needed the breakaway controller. I have noticed the battery holds a charge for a long time, so even though I don’t use the tailer for months at a time, it stays charged and gets topped off when I use the trailer.

by:

I wired it up to recharge off of the house battery in the trailer, I put the wiring in the old battery box. Now it's easy test, easy re-charge. It took a while to get it but well worth the wait.

by:

Order arrived earlier than expected - Customer service was great on the phone and product selection was very good - videos were also informative and help in my selection

by:

Well made. Installed easily.

Computer software and breakaway kits alike, those two qualities are fundamental :) What kind of set up do you have this installed on?

by:

Worked OK. No charger built in though.

by:

I was pleased that I recieved all the items as stated in the information. It fit on the trailer and all the holes lined up so I did not need to redrill anything. I used a solder heat shrink tubing to make my connections.

by:

Great products

by:

It was the oem direct replacement. It comes with everything you need.

by:

Awesome transaction,start to finish!

by:

Sheila gave me the best customer service experience I’ve ever had. etrailer is a great place to do business. Thanks to each of you.

  • Can I Add Electric Brakes To A 1993 EZ Loader Boat Trailer
Hello Mike. It sounds like you are wanting to add electric brakes to your boat trailer that currently has no brakes. This is possible, but you will first need to make sure that your axle is equipped with a brake flange at the base of the spindle. The brake flange is necessary for adding brakes. If you do have a brake flange, you will next need to determine your bearing sizes. Electric brakes will require new hubs and drum assemblies, and we need to be sure that there is a drum available...

  • Recommended Kit to Convert Brinkley Z3100 from Drum to Disc Brakes
Hey Dwyane yes that is necessary unfortunately. We do have disc brake kits like the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE68YR which will work with 7,000 lb axles that uses specific bearings. The last couple of things you'd need is a brake line kit # 18TA-BLKIT as well as an actuator # DE47SR and a breakaway kit # 3802308. If you can let me know what size axles you have as well as what bearings it uses, I'd be happy to find the correct kit.

  • Adding Brakes To A Shorelander Single Axle Boat Trailer
Hello Dan. This trailer currently has no brakes correct? It may be possible to add electric brakes, as long as the axle is equipped with a 4-bolt brake flange. If no brake flange is present, you would either need to have them added to the axle, or replace the axle entirely. If you do have a brake flange, you can add electric brakes without too much trouble. You will need to get brake assemblies, hub/drum assemblies, a 7-way trailer wiring harness, an emergency breakaway kit, and an electric...

  • Adding DeeMaxx Hydraulic Brake To A 2024 Brinkley Z2900 5th Wheel
Hello Darren. Thanks for reaching out, I can definitely help with this. To convert your 2024 Brinkley Z2900 5th wheel over to disc brakes, you will need a disc brake kit, a brake line kit, and electric over hydraulic actuator, and a breakaway kit for the trailer. Your tow vehicle will also need to be equipped with an electric trailer brake controller. If you want to go with DeeMaxx brakes, such as the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE68YR, this is definitely a good choice. Keep in mind this...

The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R1058D11E is for 9,000-10,000 lb Dexter axles. Assuming you have a standard duty Dexter or Lippert 12,000 lb axle, the correct kit would be the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 11" Rotor - 8 on 6.5 - Raw Finish - Leaf Spring - 12K - Dexter/Lippert # K2R1258L12. This kit fits an idler hub assembly like the # 8-214-8UC1. You will need to verify which axles you have in order to make sure this will work, it is not for use with 12K HD axles. • Recommended Breakaway Kit For A Boat Trailer With Two Braking Axles
Hey Rick, thanks for reaching out. My recommendation for a breakaway is the Bright Way Push-to-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 3802308. I prefer the Bright Way units just because I know them to be durable and dependable. This breakaway (and every other breakaway unit) is water resistant, not waterproof. Meaning the box can be mounted on the trailer frame and can be exposed to the elements, but it cannot be submerged. So, for mounting on your boat trailer try to find a place that is higher...

To determine the correct brakes for your trailer we'll need to first know the axle capacity. The Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-26-27 you were looking at are designed for 3,500lb axles. From there you'll need a hub/drum assembly, which will require knowing your bearing and grease seal numbers and your wheel's bolt pattern. You will need 4 of the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Assemblies # DE89YR with a Hydrastar Electric-Hydraulic Actuator w/ Line Kit # CAR-HBA16-2. It does not include a hub. I do recommend looking at the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-468-469 instead as the brakes adjust while you drive saving you on having to adjust the breaks as they wear. I'm not sure what the mounting bolt pattern is for your 2327 but for the 3802308 the mounting holes are spaced 5-11/16" apart horizontally and 1-5/16" apart vertically so you can compare that to what you currently have.
