Question:
Installing 2 electric braking axles on my boat trailer. Trailer will be submerged loading and unloading the boat. Can you recommend a trailer break away kit for the tandem axles that would be best suited?

Hey Rick, thanks for reaching out. My recommendation for a breakaway is the Bright Way Push-to-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 3802308. I prefer the Bright Way units just because I know them to be durable and dependable. This breakaway (and every other breakaway unit) is water resistant, not waterproof. Meaning the box can be mounted on the trailer frame and can be exposed to the elements, but it cannot be submerged. So, for mounting on your boat trailer try to find a place that is higher up and close to the coupler so you can launch your boat without submerging the breakaway box.

Thank You for your recommendation which I probably follow. However, the boat is a sailboat trailer which requires full submersion of the trailer to launch. With that being said I may install the kit so that it can easily removed for load/launching. Fortunately the load/launching of the sailboat does not happen very often due to its size and weight. Thank You again Rick H.
