Adding DeeMaxx Hydraulic Brake To A 2024 Brinkley Z2900 5th Wheel

Question:

Good morning, I hope this finds you well. I was hoping to get information on a Deemaxx hydraulic brake upgrade for our 2024 Brinkley Z2900 if possible. After watching “RV Wild life” doing the upgrade and raving about how Etrailer was so helpful with all the parts and necessary items I was curious if I could get a brakedown of what’s needed. I thank you in advance for any and all help you can provide. Have a good day, Darren W.

Hello Darren. Thanks for reaching out, I can definitely help with this. To convert your 2024 Brinkley Z2900 5th wheel over to disc brakes, you will need a disc brake kit, a brake line kit, and electric over hydraulic actuator, and a breakaway kit for the trailer. Your tow vehicle will also need to be equipped with an electric trailer brake controller.

If you want to go with DeeMaxx brakes, such as the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE68YR, this is definitely a good choice. Keep in mind this kit is for the standard 7,000 lb axle and it uses the # 25580 (1.750" ID) inner bearing and # 02475 (1.25" ID) outer bearing so please do verify this is what you have. If you have a different axle with different bearing just let me know. Keep in mind you will need two of the # DE68YR kits if you intend to put brakes on both axles.

For your brake line kit, we will want to be sure we get you a kit with an appropriately sized main line. The Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # 18TA-BLKIT comes with an 18' main line. You can measure from the front of the trailer to the axle to determine what length line you will need.

I recommend that you use the DeeMaxx EOH actuator # DE47SR which is made specifically for disc brakes. Then you can use the Bright Way # 3802308 for your breakaway.

Note that your vehicle will need to be equipped with an EOH compatible brake controller. If you don't have one already, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 because it is our most tired and true brake controller and it is EOH compatible. Below, you will find a like to our guide in installing EOH brakes and it goes over this process in detail. Feel free to post in the comment section below if you need anything else from me.
