Product so far has worked great for a pinched/cut OEM 7pin cord. It isnt weatherproof like an OEM connector to the cord-as well as the female end of the connector but then its just the connector so totally sealed is not the design for this. It works fine & currently has saved me from having to purchase a connector & wire cord as 1 piece & some shennagins with installing that set up.

by:

It's a good plug and easy to wire with internal screw terminals. However, there's no real weatherproof seal to the cable or bundled wiring that you're inserting into the plug. It's going to get wet inside the plug, leading to possible short circuits unless you seal the cable entry well with RTV or dry it out regularly and/or take it apart once and a while to make sure there's no corrosion on the terminals. A lot of plugs are like this which is why the manufacturers use a molded plug/cable assembly for the trailer connector cable.

by:

Using this product to replace inputs from a straight-4 hookup plus add'l wires from a supplemental light system for my truck. Works exactly as advertised; saves me a lot of hassle. Installer must have some rudimentary electrical-connection knowledge.

You must also know which of the seven contacts does what for your vehicle to install this correctly; should be in your car/truck's manual.

Four instead of 5 stars just because the entrance/exit hole for wires needs supplementation to make it water-tight.

Product is easily worth the money and functions exactly as one would expect.

Great jack for the money! Much better than the jacks that come on most utility trailers that wear out quickly.

by:

Showed up in acceptable condition, refused order. Parts missing. Have not heard back yet for replacement of order

That is not good! I have sent your information over to our customer service department for them to get you your missing parts.

This was a great deal. I was switching from and old style 6 pin. What I really like was the size of the wire clamps and screws. Because of this I was able to fit 10 gauge wires in the 12V +-locations for better/ faster battery charging in my camper while driving.

by:

Excellent place to purchase quality par ts.

by: 05/18/2023

Decided to install this myself after getting quotes for $1100.00.
Now I know why they charge so much. But with the help of etrailer's
video's the install went as planned and works great.
Thanks etrailer.

I have this same plug (PK 12706) on the Boat Trailer and it works perfect, and never disconnects or shorts. Now I'm putting this same plug on the Snowmobile Trailer. I'll let you know if I have any problems. Anything to do with trailer issues I always contact eTrailer Company first.
Thanks,
Ron

Parts work gread! I use this one with a receptacle on my Kubota tractor for powering my utility trailer electric brakes and for an auxiliary power outlet for my 16 gallon electric sprayer

by:

Easy to order, and was delivered when they stated it would be here.

Still working out great after 1 year. No issues. Stock OEM replacement.

This was the last part I needed to order to carry a spare tire on my RV. Sherry S. was a GREAT help ensuring I had all the right part for my Road Master spare tire carrier - and didn't order more than I needed. Lots of helpful information on their web-sites and the videos were also very helpful. Will definitely purchase from Sherry and etrailer again.

easy installation

by:

Exact product that I was expecting. Quality trailer connector.

by:

I was hoping that these connectors would be better than they are. They do work. I would consider them a two trip connector; the first trip from one state to another, the second trip watching the sold trailer being pulled off by the new owner.

Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.

by:

My trailer connector got to me sooner that promised . It was exactly the right one, which I was unable to find in my local retail stores.

by:

Finally, a company that actually knows how to package a product! Quality packing materials, Thick, sturdy cartons, plenty of paper to prevent the items from banging around inside and destroying each other. Quick shipping, good communication and overall fair prices. Will be back for more!

by:

do not follow the labeling on the back of the plug the colors do not match. had to do a google image search for a pin out of a trailer plug.

Thank you for your review! You do bring up a good point. While the wiring setup displayed on the connector is the most common wire colors, it is important to note that some instances can vary so you want to connect the wires by function rather than colors. The function diagram is listed in the photos above as well as this attached helpful article for you to check out.

by:

Excellent customer service, reasonable pricing, timely shipping and delivery,, and quality parts for the past 10 years of doing business with etrailer.com. Keep up the good work.

  • Voltage Drops at Clearance Lights on Aluminum Cattle Trailer with 25 Clearance Lights
You have a lot of lights on your trailer drawing power from the running light circuit. As long as the lights are lighting up properly there is no reason worry and you can switch out LED lights a little at a time. If the lights are dim then the combined power draw is likely too much for the tow package wiring on the tow vehicle to handle. Usually when this is the problem it will blow a fuse on the tow vehicle. You can check the wiring for each of the lights to make sure that they are all...

On the top of the trailer side 7-Way connector # PK12706 there is a small set screw. Use a small flat blade screwdriver to loosen the set screw. It does not have to come all the way out. Once the set screw is loose you can use the screwdriver to push the face of the connector out from the back. You would then run the wiring through the back, make the connections to the terminals on the face part, then push the whole assembly back into the body of the connector. Tighten the set screw and...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Lights that Go Off When Headlights are On and Brake Is Applied
It sounds like you have a ground issue. When the headlights are on and the brakes applied, the highest amperage draw is placed on the wiring system and, a faulty ground will show at this time. Make sure you have good metal to metal contact. Paint and corrosion can act as insulators, so make sure the grounds of the light assemblies are touching clean metal. I would check all of the ground connections on the trailer. First, check the ground at the trailer tongue from the trailer conenctor....

The black wire of a 7-way is typically the 12 volt power accessory circuit. This would be hot all the time but on some vehicles it may only come on when the key is in the on position. The blue wire would only see power if a brake controller was putting power on the circuit.

  • Wiring Up a New Trailer Side 7-Way Connector on a Trailer that Used to have a 4-Way
A wishbone harness will have 2 wires for running lights. On a trailer side 4-Way, the pin next to the ground pin is for the running lights. You can connect the 2 wires that carry the running lights together and then to the new connector. The running light wires should be the yellow/brown and green/brown. Traditionally a yellow wire only is for the left turn and brake lights. It is next to the running light pin. And the last pin, typically a green wire only, is for right turn and brake lights. But...
