Hey Joseph, welcome back! To add a breakaway kit to your car hauler, I recommend the Bright Way Push-to-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit item # 3802308. This kit is designed for single or tandem axle trailers like yours and comes with everything you need to safely and quickly stop your trailer in the event of it coming uncoupled from your tow vehicle.
The Bright Way item # 3802308 includes a 5 amp battery and a 1-amp hour charger that will keep the battery topped off. The weatherproof box measures 4-3/4" long x 6" wide x 4-7/8" tall and will bolt directly to your trailer's frame. The brake away switch comes with 4' of wire so you'll be able to play around with the positioning of the box to suit your needs.
What kind of car do you haul in your trailer?

I bought this kit as a replacement for what came on my 2018 Aluma car hauler. It’s a dual axle 7000 pound gvw trailer. It was just a quick replacement of the original. It has not been used or charged over the winter and if I press the “test” button the battery still shows good.

I completely rebuilt a 22-foot Big Tex equipment trailer, including the Bright Way Kit, all new wiring, 7 pin connector-cord and control box, multiple new grounds and all new LED lights from e-trailer. I also added backup flood lights on the back of the trailer for night loading and parking. This trailer has dual 7500-pound axles. The kit works great, had to modify the mounting of the unit as the original location was within the frame of the trailer but all works good. I have been running it about a year, it recharges quickly once on the truck and I have had no issues at all. I really like the battery test ability, and the charging status. I'm not easy on trailers, I work them, I would use it again and do recommend it.

I use this kit and it works great. Double 7k# axles, solar panel with charger to a large AGM battery, connected to the power of the breakaway. It will always have power given the large battery that also powers lights and winch. Works, I tested it.
